Having just listened to iain Brunskill`s after match comments I was astounded to hear him say it was not about tactics or team selection as to why we lost.
I beg to differ. It was definitely down to that. Whoever picked that starting line up and formation should take full responsibility for that 1st half performance.
Unfortunately, he just blamed the players.
We know Hamilton is not a right back. He doesn`t seem to know that.
We know we are better with 3 at the back. Too late to wait until half time to change it.
Why on earth was Barney left on the bench? He`s been the only one scoring of late.
Please take some responsibility Mr. Brunskill.

We thought the same when we saw the lineup. We were talking about that during the game. Why not play CH in the centre or a proven centre half. Play Bene even for the first 45 given we have a reputation for losing early goals. We were out of it by half time and by then it was all too late.

Cant argue with that. We all saw that line up as very questionable.

"Whoever picked that starting line up and formation should take full responsibility for that 1st half performance."
Ngwenya for Abdulai was the only change in the line up or formation from the final 30mins of last week at Queens Park, it wasnt a surprise to see them try that again.
what he said about the basics was spot on, what he said Tuesday night post match about having a better idea about what is needed going forward after that game etc was more of a problem. been in the job 9 months and it takes till now to work that out, it was clear in the 9 weeks at the end of last season and a lot of that has not been addressed.

I agree with every single word of this. I looked at the lineups before kickoff and thought this may not go well. And so it proved. If it`s nothing to do with team selection or formation, what do we need a manager for? Brunskill has dropped in my estimation after that interview. The team selection and formation cost us the game.

It was a poor interview. Players were picked in positions that were obviously wrong for them so some accountability should have been shown.
On the tactics under this management team - I was hoping to see a significant change after enduring McPake/Tidser ball but all too often it`s still the horseshoe of death.

I am getting very fed up reading that management need to learn from the first half performance. I think I have read that every week for last four weeks.

With Abdulai out I fully expected Bene to come right in as Mullen needs a commanding presense alongside him.
The defence were an utter shambles first half with no leadership at all. Keeper to blame for their second with hesitation whether to come for the ball and made it easy for their attacker to nod it in.
Three very very poor goals to lose.
Hamilton likes to be influential whether CB or center midfield so it was bemusing he was placed as right back where he wasn’t used to playing and he had a nightmare there.
I don’t know who picked that team but it was ALL wrong.
Thankfully the second half gave us fans something to cheer and we wouldn’t have been surprised if we’d sneaked a draw but the damage was already done.
We got bullied the first half and the fight in the team to counteract that was not evident until the second half where I am certain they got a bollocking at half time.
I think it’s fair to blame the coaching staff on this occasion. Lennon maybe didn’t get too involved in the process of picking that eleven.

What formation is the team trying to play..knocking the ball left to right at the back isn’t going to get anywhere… 4-4-2 and get the wide boys attacking?
