12 noon pitch inspection - GAME OFF
Topic Originator: Sacktheref69
Date:   Sat 14 Feb 09:32

#DAFC can confirm that there will be a 12noon pitch inspection ahead of this afternoon`s match with Partick Thistle.

Following a drop in temperature last night, as low as -6 trackside, there are small areas of concerns, however to give the game the best chance of going ahead an inspection time of 12noon has been agreed.

Matchday hospitality will now open at 12.30pm subject to the pitch inspection outcome

Supporters will be updated upon the conclusion of the inspection.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Shed padlocks were by frozen and I defrosted them with water. The water in the ground froze immediately. Hope the sun can get a wee bit heat into the surface. It is that stand side that will be the issue.

Not necessarily. The fact they’ve not done inspection earlier means they’re giving it a chance with the sun being out right now.

You would presume if it was the usual area in front of the Main Stand and given the forecast they would have called it off early doors.

If that`s the case and people in the know are being told, it`s really poor they still haven`t updated social media.

Edited to add - we shouldn't have to rely on some crabbit lad on a forum to tell us.

The grass in the main stand shadow is always the problem this time of year. It’s no surprise it’s also the part of the pitch that cuts up the most

That`s been 2 really poor weeks from the club.

Last week`s nonsense with people still outside the Norrie 15-20 minutes after KO and this week getting caught out by the weather.

Disappointing.

Partick fans seem to think the games off.

Claiming to have heard from a match official, that was 10 mins ago.

Complete waste of money buying those pitch covers. Been used twice and both times the game`s been called off.

Morton game on and they had pitch covers. I think the issue is the stands cover most of the pitch. This can be seen in the club photo regarding the pitch inspection.

Do we still have undersoil heating? If so, can`t it be used on that strip.of ground down the south touchline? It`s so frustrating with this serious backlog of fixtures piling up when other clubs seem to be able to cope.

Last week when the Peterhead game was off they sent out a message on social media inviting locals down to the club for discounted meals as hospitality couldn’t go ahead as usual and encouraged people to come in for the rugby - apparently it was packed and a very profitable afternoon

Club doesn’t have any control over hospitality as franchised it away to Thomas Franks. Food and staff are theirs.

Must be only club in UK that has covers and USH and has games postponed.

Remote controlled rollers that move up and down the pitch all night won’t allow the frost to build on the pitch. Quite cheap and cost very little to operate….

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.
