On the train now, set off from Oldham at 7am.
Have some ice cold beers in my rucksack which will tingle the tonsils pretty soon.
The pressure is on Aberdeen. They`re not in good form, they`ll be in a "salvage the season" headspace.
Pars just need to stand up to them and not be bossed. We just need to break up their play and frustrate them. Then the pressure really will be on them.
We`re the underdogs.
Nothing to lose, everything to gain.
A bottle of Belhaven 80 Shilling is awaiting my attention...
It`s gonna be a long day!
I blame Andy Rhodes for this!

I been lurking on a couple of their chat forums the last few days. They ain`t happy. They`re looking forward to a decent awayday on the beer, but they ain`t confident of a result. Reading a few posts, they need a goal within the first few minutes or the fans will start turning on the team.
This is an all or nothing game for them today, the pressure is fully on them

Aberdeen have only won 4 away games this season, drawing 1 and losing 10. They average 1 goal per game while conceding 1.41. Aberdeen have only won 1 and drawn 1 in their last 5 matches, losing the last 2.
We’ve won 5, drawn 4 and lost 5 at home, scoring 1.37 goals per game and conceding 1.19. In our last 5 matches, we’ve won 2 and drawn 1, and we’re unbeaten in the last 3.It’s a massive chance for us today. I think the pressure is more on Aberdeen than on us. Aberdeen don’t really have anything positive left to play for this season, while we still have this match and a chance to get into the playoffs of the result doesn`t go our way.
It should shape up to be a good match. Hopefully we can play as well as we did against Hibs and if we do we should be on track for another memorable night at EEP.
This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Suppose it depends how both teams turn up on the night .
If the pars set up as we did on Tuesday and against hibs we have a great chance .
Aberdeen not having a good season but they played good against Celtic ,their front men against celtic were fast
I think it will be harder than the hibs game but we can do this

I`ll be heading down from the Broch shortly. Three hours in the car, if traffic is kind to me.
I don`t know how to call this one today. We`re definitely capable of giving them a game, but if they turn up in the right mindset it could be a long evening.
I`ll travel in hope as always though. At the very least we have a `puncher`s chance`.
Full house, under the lights, on the telly ... Let`s go for it!

Who starts at RB is the big question, the rest of the team fits around that. I think Matty will get the nod, he`s earned it imo. Likewise with Mullen, Abdulai & Ngwenya at CB
Turley has been playing well... Amade is in good form but maybe Turley has a bit more dig in midfield?
I don`t think both Kane and Thomas start, one will come off the bench, either to give us fresh legs or to go all out if we need a goal. Cooper & A. Tod both start I reckon, unless there`s a surprise at RB in which case Matty Todd & Andrew
Ox
Todd
Mullen
Abdulai
Ngwenya

Turley/Amade

A Tod
Kane (fingers crossed)

Fraser having an absolute stormer so far, his first touch taking the ball out of the air (many times) is Berbatov esq.
Great finish from Todd but realistically the goalie has to be coming for that, was in the air a long time.

I think it’s only fair that when the officials have a good game they are credited by the management team. They were good but I guess it’s easy to say that when you win. We got off with a couple of things. Yep, great ref!

On our way to Hampden, i think i would prefer St. Mirren or Partick in the semis, dont really want to face Falkirk as it might lead to a kicking match with too much hatred coming from the supperters and spoiling the game.

"The pressure is on Aberdeen. They`re not in good form, they`ll be in a "salvage the season" headspace.
Pars just need to stand up to them and not be bossed. We just need to break up their play and frustrate them. Then the pressure really will be on them.
We`re the underdogs.
Nothing to lose, everything to gain".
....,
Ok. I`m lousy at football predictions but I`m chuffed as hell that came up!
They were terrible!
No.. I`m actually being disrespectful.
They were terrible cause we made them look terrible. We never give them 1 second of sniff around to think about anything.
In their faces for 90+ mins and it showed after half time, their season was done . 10 mins of pressure (probably), nothing to show and their fans were on their backs.
Can`t fault anything tonight. Every man had a job and it worked.
Cracking atmosphere.
Ah. Apologies for this northern monkey here shouting encouragement for Pars from minute 1 till the end. It seems (in the main stand anyway) it`s frowned upon unless Pars are 1/ winning and 2/ there`s a Hampden Park semi on the horizon.
I`m not by any means a potty mouth fan( I f#@&+g can be!) so I`m just guessing some don`t like loud non local encouragement.w
I`ll stick with the Norrie stand from now on.
Anyway.. worth the trip today and back home tomorrow.
Hampden Park anyone?
I`ll be there!
Cheers all!
I blame Andy Rhodes for this!

Not many nights like that watching the Pars. And whatever happens in the semi, we should still remember this one because that was pretty special.
Decent start to the game but I was a bit worried when Aberdeen came into it and exposed us with quick play a couple of times. I don`t think our system was working too well at that point and we could see the weakness of playing 3 forwards, but in the end it came good. Having got through that spell, then scored ourselves, we were able to control the game pretty well and the system allowed us to go to pretty much 5-4-1 without the ball, and shifted quickly when we had it ourselves. It worked well over the game.
The key to the win was getting through that spell at the start of the second half when we were under pressure and had to defend for a long period. We did really well, then did even better to score on the break with our first attack of the second half. That goal knocked Aberdeen flat and from then on we weren`t in much danger.
We had to play well tonight and we did that. A great effort from them all individually, and a brilliant effort as a team. I love it when I`m able to say we played well as a team.

Absolutely brilliant performance tonight. Great pieces of play, long balls across the park that were received perfectly with brilliant first touches, fantastic movement, peeling aberdeen players away to leave the wingers with space to run with the ball. Just buzzing from it. Currently rewatching it.
Its been a long day with nerves, that didnt settle until the 3rd goal really.
Bring on Hampden!!!!

Take nothing away from Pars, the team was magnificent. Getting in at the Aberdeen defence from the start meant they resorted to long ball clearances. The only worrying times were near the start of each half when Aberdeen moved the ball quickly and threatened to score - albeit without ever seriously troubling Oxborough. We looked like the Premiership team and could have scored two or three more.
But what a gutless, leaderless performance that was from Aberdeen. They played without belief or urgency, and nobody took it upon himself to fire them up - I`m looking at you, Graham Shinnie, Stewart Armstrong, Peter Leven. When Mullen was getting treatment, I think it was 2-0 at the time and still all to play for, every Aberdeen player stood about 10 yards from each other - no communication at all, never mind any encouragement. When the 3rd goal went in after a spell of Aberdeen pressure they were psychologically well beaten.

A night that will live long in the memory. From Matty`s early peach of a goal to young Tod encouraging the fans down in the corner near the end. It was a fantastic performance. I said at HT against Hibs that the tactics were spot on. We contained them and then we got the late winner. Never in my dreams did I expect us go at Aberdeen like that tonight. The third goal was superb and came just at the right time. Credit Chris Kane for the pass to Thomas. I thought Kane`s workrate was fantastic tonight.
The thing that stands out for me is the composure that this young team has when they are in pressure situations. They should be very proud tonight.

That was one of the weirdest games I remember watching. If anything I expected a really similar game to the Hibs one but we looked completely comfortable and even when Aberdeen started both halves well, you didn`t ever really think they`d score.
I questioned Abdulai being left out but Lennon got it spot on again. We have a seriously top manager and I think there`s a chance we could actually win the cup. 2 wins away from glory.

To a man, we were fantastic last night. Aberdeen were nothing short of an embarrassment. Olly Thomas has been a bit like Morrison in the way he has been playing quite well but needing a goal and he picked the right game to grab it. I’m so happy for Lenny and the team. Glad we didn`t knee jerk when we went through our purple patch.
Amade and Gomour, as deeper midfielders, worked a treat, as both looked back to their best. Turley is a real talent. Over all a great night for the club. Let`s get our allocation at Hampden sold out and back the boys.
EDIT: Just seen the Pars Supporters Trust video of the players walking off the park. How happy Abdulai is just to be a part of this club shows how powerful football can be.

With a young and inexperienced squad, you have to accept that there will be rough patches. But on the flip side, we have assembled a good group of players who, on their day, can compete with Premiership opposition. The model seems to be working.

A night that will live long in the memory......
I was going to post this, word for word, JTH. 😁
Every single player played his part, as did Neil Lennon. His team selection and tactics were spot on. Let`s not diminish the performance of our team by focussing on the limitations of our opponents. You can only play as well as the other team allow you to and we limited Aberdeen to a good opening 10 mins in each half. We could have won by 4 or 5 and they were lucky to get 0.
How funny was it at the end when the Aberdeen players were instructed to go over and applaud the few fans who had stayed behind? They certainly weren`t returning the applause, and the players were reluctant to get too close to them. 😀
Not your average Sunday League player.

Have to also give some credit to those involved in recruitment. Of the January additions of
Morrison
Thomas
Turley
Oxborough
Carey
...you`d have to say 4 out of 5 have contributed massively over the last few games. It`s taken time for some to get going but that`s a really high hit rate.
