Some bustard threw some grapes into my garden. I recon this was a deliberate attempt to kill my dachshund.
I don`t know if she got any but I found 3.
I have to act quick.
2 hr window apparently.
I was told before that hydrogen peroxide 3% will make her sick. This is what the vet would do and charge me £500 plus.
Where can I get hydrogen peroxide 3% or does anyone know a vet that isnt a theiving bustard.

Hope you sort something out. I don`t remember the exact price but I don`t think 3 Bridges Vet was as much as £550.
Are they definitely grapes? I`ve just now found a small amount (15) of what I thought were red grapes in our garden. On closer inspection they seem more like large cranberries. Definitely thrown into our garden though.

Bill only £430
Only!
Anyone got a budgie I can swap her for?
Im gonny look at independent vets. We should all boycott the ones owned by large groups.
Need to find the sicko that did it.
I got 3% peroxide and liquid active carbon online. Ready for the next emergency.

Have you considered pet insurance? I’ve got one for Daisy and have always managed to claim it back for emergencies.

It`s a good shout but the prices can be enormous for older dogs meaning you`re as well just putting money aside instead. Vet prices are through the roof, particularly at Inglis it would seem.

Yes she`s insured but I still have to find it up front. Don`t get it all back. Admin fees and excess.
3rd OOH incident in 2 months. I was worried insurance will get hiked.

Thats the bit that sticks in my craw with the insurance - having to fund the full price up front yourself is farcical. Should be your excess, then the rest goes through insurance.
If our cats ended up in there on an emergency appointment just now then we would struggle to fund it up front due to other financial commitments 🤷🏻♂️ doesn’t mean we don’t love them just as much.
Glad your dog is ok PARrot 👍🏻

Grapes, cherries, and chocolate, very not good to give to dogs.Although, some products, have to given in large doses to cause serious harm. But ,then again, depending on size of the dog.

I`ve heard good things about Ferguson Vet but it is in Glenrothes
I know knowledge is good, but it does feel like some vets are using the love of an owner to massively exploit fear and worry about a lot of things to make a mint on stuff that isn`t really required.
Heard of someone who has recently been charged 4k for an MRI to be told their 12 year old dog has an inoperable tumour. Mental.

Vets are an absolute rip off. What i dont understand is they check the dug, give you the medicine AND at the end "ohhh there is another type of medicine that can also help but its an extra £30"....... now the wife went "well if it helps then why not" I just said not a chance as we were already at £125 for a 10 min check up plus medicine.
The last dog was on his way out so off to the vets and told this injection might help and tablets.....£85....back home and he died around 4hrs later sooo back to the vets to hand him in and i asked if i could get a refund on the tablets as they were not opened...a strict no! Then it was £130 for them to take him and i was asked if i wanted his ashes for an extra £100(luckily my wife was not there as it would have been a yes)......I just said this is a money making machine this place!
We use Billy McNeil in Aberdour now, no faffing about and charges a decent price.

I live in Australia. A mate of mine, Keiran, went to pick up his dog at the vet. It had been kept overnight having had a tick removed. Mate goes in next morning to get the dog. "How much?", he asked. "!600 A$". He turned round and walked to the door. "Keep the elfin dog" he said. "All right, 1200" shouted the receptionist. "You heard me" said the big fella. Eventually he paid $750. True story.

It`s worth noting that vets will only require you to pay excess if you`re signed up to one of their preferred insurers. Fairly sure for Inglis it`s Petplan, who also happen to be bloody expensive!
I know costs have risen but I don`t remember prices ever being as high as they are now.

Grapes sultanas raisins and sugar free chewing gum are the killers. Even one grape can kill a large dog.
Chocolate also bad but needs to be a few squares of solid chocolate. Not a thin coated biscuit. Still can make them ill though.
Grapes are the worst. I can`t see how they got there unless it was deliberate. She`s a pup still. Barks at everyone who walks down piggy lane. Maybe someone got pissed off

Could also be completely innocuous like a child thats dropped them by mistake. Suppose you will never know unless you have cameras up on the area. I certainly wouldn’t have known grapes can kill a dog till this post came up.

A total nonsense response, Eric. Without belittling what I would agree to be a harrowing experience, a football thread is the last place 99.9% of pet owners would go to seeking urgent advice.

Any idea why someone would want to hurt your dog? Is it a constant barker or is it just an evil deed? I know that if I had a handgun with a noise suppressor there are at least 3 dogs near me that I`d have no qualms shooting in the face (or their owners).
Obviously not serious but some people let their dogs bark all day and poo all over the place.

I have a suspicion that I will keep an eye on. I`ve informed the police.
Apart from that, she is an 18 month old mini longhaired dachshund. She isn`t out often. Just to pee. If anyone passes down piggys lane she gets all exited and says hello. Hardly menacing and certainly not deserving of induced kidney failure.
