With JCM playing in the U21 against Portugal, does that make him the most capped Scotland U21 to play for Dunfermline? If so, congratulations to him.

If Wikipedia is correct then he`ll be 22 in June.
I wondered if this might preclude him from making any more appearances but it looks like eligibility is based on age/year born when the competition starts. So he`d be eligible for the remaining two European Championship qualifiers later this year and the final competition next summer (qualification looks unlikely however).

Bit quiet on whether JCM will be with us next season. Unless we get promoted I reckon he’s away. Could see him at Hibs or something. He’s going to be £1M at least player pretty soon. If we hold on to him then that’s massive for us.

I don’t know if it’s just bias from me thinking that he’s already leaving but if we could walk into next season with a back 3 of Ngwenya/Tod on the left Abdulai in the centre and have Turkey starting on the right I don’t think we lose much obviously even keeping him just for the depth in the squad as well would be amazing

I fear we are going to lose him too.
But I agree with you, Abdulai Ngwenya etc can more than make up for it, plus I imagine we will have a fair bit of recruitment - Replacement for Bene (if he is not offered a contract )etc

He’s U23 and according to what I’ve read even if he goes as a free agent we should receive a development fee.

You get a development fee for anyone who leaves your club u23 so long as you offer a contract the same or better terms as they were already on.
There`s a few factors at play but length of development is a big one and 18 months or so, especially towards the end of his defined development time will make the fee rather low compared to any potential transfer fee had he be under a long term contract

I’ve no doubt the club want him to stay around but it might come down to personal ambition more so than financial benefit.
I too think it will depend on what league we are in next season.
He’s been given the captains armband on multiple occasions to sweeten him up as he doesn’t seem a natural captain on the park when we already have one in Gilmour.

Feeling the love can mean a lot to a player (or anyone)... he doesn`t know what he is getting if he signs for a league 1/Championship team down south. He knows the whole club love him here. 2 year contract. Sing his name North West !!

According to Salary Sport Josh Edwards is earning £3100 a week. So yes I would expect JCM’s agent would be pushing for a similar salary.

I would say he’s had a mixed season compared to being excellent second half of last season. Can look great in games and can also look a bit like a donkey too.
Hard one as to what happens with him but i don’t think it worsens us replacing him, ideally tod Abdulai and a more experienced centre back could even be an improvement in terms of leadership on the park etc.
The fact nothing has been said suggests he’s keeping his options open at this point so will have knocked back or thinking about the offers we will have made for him to stay.

Yeah tbh we have a chance of being in Europe and in the prem next season he’d be silly to just run away the now to another team for the money because if he can go to them at the end of the season and be like look I can stay here and play European football anyone that comes in for him will have to entice him with big wages

John Tod and Sam Young could cover his absence along with Abdulai.

We only have John Tod and Abdulai under contract next season.
Would like to see us try to sign Turkey although he has another year under contract at Derby.
Offer JCM a new contract although I can’t see him staying.
Offer Ngenwa a new contract - been a revelation since moving to centre back.
Bend and O’too release and sign an experienced, commanding centre half to keep it together at the back.

Exactly. I’ve seen a few interviews in our league from managers implying players downing tools who have their contracts running out.
That’s maybe a ploy to disguise bad results but Lennon seems to be keeping our lads hungry by not discussing contracts and quite rightly so.
We could end up promoted and potentially a cup win or we could go the opposite direction.
