With JCM playing in the U21 against Portugal, does that make him the most capped Scotland U21 to play for Dunfermline? If so, congratulations to him.

If Wikipedia is correct then he`ll be 22 in June.
I wondered if this might preclude him from making any more appearances but it looks like eligibility is based on age/year born when the competition starts. So he`d be eligible for the remaining two European Championship qualifiers later this year and the final competition next summer (qualification looks unlikely however).

Bit quiet on whether JCM will be with us next season. Unless we get promoted I reckon he’s away. Could see him at Hibs or something. He’s going to be £1M at least player pretty soon. If we hold on to him then that’s massive for us.

I don’t know if it’s just bias from me thinking that he’s already leaving but if we could walk into next season with a back 3 of Ngwenya/Tod on the left Abdulai in the centre and have Turkey starting on the right I don’t think we lose much obviously even keeping him just for the depth in the squad as well would be amazing

But I agree with you, Abdulai Ngwenya etc can more than make up for it, plus I imagine we will have a fair bit of recruitment - Replacement for Bene (if he is not offered a contract )etc

You get a development fee for anyone who leaves your club u23 so long as you offer a contract the same or better terms as they were already on.
There`s a few factors at play but length of development is a big one and 18 months or so, especially towards the end of his defined development time will make the fee rather low compared to any potential transfer fee had he be under a long term contract

I’ve no doubt the club want him to stay around but it might come down to personal ambition more so than financial benefit.
I too think it will depend on what league we are in next season.
He’s been given the captains armband on multiple occasions to sweeten him up as he doesn’t seem a natural captain on the park when we already have one in Gilmour.

According to Salary Sport Josh Edwards is earning £3100 a week. So yes I would expect JCM’s agent would be pushing for a similar salary.

I would say he’s had a mixed season compared to being excellent second half of last season. Can look great in games and can also look a bit like a donkey too.
Hard one as to what happens with him but i don’t think it worsens us replacing him, ideally tod Abdulai and a more experienced centre back could even be an improvement in terms of leadership on the park etc.
The fact nothing has been said suggests he’s keeping his options open at this point so will have knocked back or thinking about the offers we will have made for him to stay.

Would like to see us try to sign Turkey although he has another year under contract at Derby.
Offer JCM a new contract although I can’t see him staying.
Offer Ngenwa a new contract - been a revelation since moving to centre back.
Bend and O’too release and sign an experienced, commanding centre half to keep it together at the back.

Exactly. I’ve seen a few interviews in our league from managers implying players downing tools who have their contracts running out.
That’s maybe a ploy to disguise bad results but Lennon seems to be keeping our lads hungry by not discussing contracts and quite rightly so.
We could end up promoted and potentially a cup win or we could go the opposite direction.

Burton Albion are keen on Dunfermline Athletic defender Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen. Aberdeen have also been scouting the Scotland under-21 cap. The English League One side want to take the defender back down to England. The Brewers have already expressed their interest. Mullen will have a decision to make in the summer. The 21-year-old is trying to help Dunfermline through the Premiership play-offs before he can concentrate on the Scottish Cup final against Celtic.

I’ve heard he’s asking for around the 5k mark. Potentially, he has an offer of, say, 4k and he’s trying to get the best deal he can. If we’re in the Premiership, I’d imagine these are the figures players will ask for. It’s hard to pay this kind of money in the Championship.

Doesnt sound like a good option. They are 17th in league 1, with average gates lower than us. You could end up languishing as a player in the lower divisions.i suppose it depends where you think you best interests and future lie. Its not always about money but future potential. Personally, i think he would have a better options to stay with us, at least for another season to continue his development. The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

The one thing I will say is I am a big fan of our owners then because could they give him 5k a week absolutely but to spend that on one player would take the money from every bit of budget we have next season think with the owners 15 years ago they would have given him it and we seen how that worked out

There won’t be a single player in our squad on more than 2-2.5k per week. I’d imagine the average wage to be around 1-1.2k mark bringing the wage budget to around £1.5m.
If we are paying any more than that, I’d honestly be worried about heading back down the Masterton path again. It’s nice having a great team that’s playing well but I’d rather have a ***** team than have the clubs existence threatened again by spending outwith our means
JCM is worth 5k a week, anyone with any football knowledge can see how talented the laddie is. If he takes a step up I wish him all the best, but if any player is demanding those numbers from us we need to say thanks for your time at the club and see ya later

I wouldnt speculate about player salaries. Like everyone else who earns a living the salary is a private matter. It is about the market rate and what someone is willing to pay set against the perceived benefit. The other consideration of course is the amount of tax you will pay on higher salaries based on the tax thresholds in Scotland. Tax thresholds are higher in England so any player moving would be likely to keep more of their money. It may be a consideration if moving South. There also daily travel and accommodation costs to consider.

It’s an open forum exactly for this type of discussion.
In terms of me knowing for a fact come from a friend who works for Livingston and informed me about Robbie Fraser signing for us prior to us announcing it.
It’s nothing to do with someone pretending to know something, it’s someone sharing information they’ve been given by a reliable source.

Your friend could probably do with losing his job in fairness. In my line of work I used to deal with quite a lot of high net worth individuals, many of them professional football players, and knew the sort of money they were on at various levels, even seen some very interesting contracts. Wouldn`t dream of divulging that sort of information on a public forum or even share that sort of information in an informal chat. Totally unprofessional.
I agree with this thread, probably this sort of speculation does nothing but harm and would be better off deleted

Why would anything get deleted regarding players wages etc as it happens on every forum?
And just to mix it up how much of a wage do you think Fraser is on as he was 2k plus bonus a week at Rangers? Mehmet has been stealing his 1.7k a week since signing for us..no wonder he’s happy until his contract expires.
Mullen imo is in the 5-7k a week bracket and will be going back down south if we are still in the Championship.

As for the poster who thinks we’re breaking the law or in a “gray area”, you’re on the wind up, surely 🤣🤣🤣
Discussing football players salaries happens everyday, news papers plaster it on the back pages. We better stop incase football players lawyers are reading .net to look for fans talking about footballers wages, have a word with yourself min.
As for Martin Boyle, Im talking about the deal we offered him in the summer. This is 100% true, not a rumour or a lie, FACT!
As I said, we better not discuss as people will start thinking about jumping in front of a bus or be worried they might be sentenced to life imprisonment.
