Manager sacked after 4 months but signed a contract for 6 years đź
âChelsea have sacked head coach Liam Rosenior after less than four months in charge and on the back of losing five consecutive Premier League matches without scoring for the first time since 1912.
Rosenior arrived at Stamford Bridge in January, signing a five-and-a-half-year deal, but has won just 11 of his 23 games across all competitions.
After Tuesday`s 3-0 defeat at Brighton, Rosenior said the performance was "indefensible" and "unacceptable" as he faced angry chants from the travelling supporters.
They subsequently slipped to seventh in the Premier League standings in a further blow to their hopes of qualifying for next season`s Champions League.â

Chelsea`s owners would give the Germans a run for their money in how not to run a club

I think that`s slightly unfair.
The Germans weren`t great but there have been some positives to their tenure, I don`t recall a time when we had so many of our own youngsters in and around the first team.
The Tods, Todd, McLeod, Fyfe... that`s a direct result of the Germans focus on youth.
I don`t agree with everything they did, or their approach, but they did manage the Finances pretty well, and helped us build a nucleus of young pars men in the first team.
That`s miles away from Chelsea.

Id argue that was a direct result of their recruitment process, or lack thereof.

Not forgetting they pumped a decent amount of money in to the club during the covid years which was a god send.

I think the issue with the Germans is that they massively underestimated the cash required to get us to where they said they wanted us to be. They made some poor mistakes by giving big contracts to players who simply werenât good enough for the level, some of whom are currently out on loan in lower leagues. Not every transfer will be a success, especially at this level, but the Germansâ recruitment was poor.
They then stopped the investment and hid behind the âtraining academy,â which, by the clubâs own admission, was built using grants, and to be fair, itâs nothing more than an astro pitch with a few cabins. They went about that all wrong. At the very least, they should have made it so we could host youth games there and charge a small entry fee to get something back from the "investment".
Then Mr Bord arrived. At first I was sceptical as he came in promising similar to the previous lot. How wrong me and a fair few fellow fans were. He has invested in EEP, recruited wisely, and bringing Lenny in was a blinder and the results this season back that up tenfold. Long may it continue.
When it comes to the German consortium, letâs keep the past in the past.
This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Back on topic. Another crazy decision by the Chelsea owners. Rosenior never really stood a chance with that squad of massive egos
It`s bloody tough being a legend

Was it not James McPake who identified signings and decided on contracts rather than the German owners? They then froze his budget which affected recruitment of course.

Strasbourg haven`t regressed since he left for Chelsea. I`m sure it`s Gary O`Neil there now?

I predicted as much when he was appointed. 6 years was insane. He will be laughing all the way to the bank thoughâŠ.
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Iv always said the best managers job in the world is at ChelseaâŠthe wages are great and if you canât get a team if we up their own erses playing your guaranteed to be sacked and a big payout..never to be heard of again and just enjoy your life!
As for our super Germans..they made the decisions and mostly every signing McPake wanted did not meet the wages so he had to go with the youth(beneficial now) With the right backing McPake would have done a decent job.
Letâs remember the Rosyth training was government grants and when that ran out they invested nothingâŠthey were millionaires but didnât have a clue on how to run a football club and expectations.

Not many companies get criticised for using government grants to help finance expenditure but it always seems to happen with the Germans.

They wouldnât have been blamed if they hadnât been caught talking out their erse. As I said, letâs keep the past in the past. Weâve got a squad on the rise and an owner who seems to know what it takes to build a successful club.
