Some nice play at times by the Pars, and a great goal by Chris Kane after good lead-up work. I feel we should be at least a couple of goals ahead at this point. But, too many final passes have been wayward.
Arbroath are by no means out of this—Ryan Dow still poses a threat. We need to be careful and hopefully get another quick goal in the second half to settle our nerves.

A very strange performance bar the goal we`ve been "meh" not necessarily bad but not our usuall self with fluid football. Matty hasn`t been in the game, Amade very wasteful too. Hopefully we can get a second and go up with a couple for advantage but Arbroath as expected making it very difficult.

Take a scrappy 1-0 win against a team that finished above us in the league no problem but that second half was an uncomfortable watch. Another day we`d have not got away with the win.
Unfortunately, most of what we did well in the first half we stopped doing after the break. Passing and crossing were especially dire 2nd half.
I guess NL likes Morrison for the energy and pest factor he brings. For me, he was largely a headless chicken with no end product. I thought he was winger (?) but he doesn`t seem to have much pace or a `trick` to get by anyone. Hopefully he plays blinder on Friday.
Hope to play better for longer on Friday. COYP.

We had at least four clear cut chances in the match and should have been out of sight already.
Our midfield seemed to disappear at times. As someone else posted - Hammy might have helped there. I knew Arbroath would be quick and dangerous on the break, and they had the better of us in the second half but they had little cutting edge.
I think maybe our players were a bit over-anxious, being strong favourites tonight on our own pitch.
But we won without playing very well, which gives me encouragement that we can play better at Arbroath and get the result.

I`d give pass marks to almost everyone. Great to see Chris Kane on from the start and playing most of the game.
Matty Todd put a lot of good balls in, but Robbie Fraser wasn`t as much of a threat as he can be. Morrison was the only fail for me. He looks dangerous in moments, but it rarely leads to a chance for someone else.
Same team on Friday with Cooper in for Morrison please. It`s do or die. Take a risk on Charlie getting booked and then worry about the consequences later.

Can see why Arbroath finished 3rd. Picked up most of the second balls and made it a very scrappy game. Glad to get out of it with a 1-0 advantage but it means we’ll need to score up there.
Thought the ref was atrocious for both teams, seemed to let everything go at first then went full circle and was blowing for the softest of fouls.

We’ve got a habit of scoring at Arbroath so hopefully that continues.
Thought after the goal so early we could’ve scored one or two more in that first half, but we were very pedestrian, we were deliberately slowing the play down at times.
Thought to myself we’ll be going for it second half with Arbroath a bit more leggy but they were excellent and we did well to get out of that with a W.
Morrison had a really poor game, again.
Personally thought Amade first half was superb, don’t know what happened the second half though!

We need to be better when on the counter, either the decision is the wrong one or the execution is poor.

Yes, I`m a fan of Cooper, there`s a lot to his game
Arbroath are tricky all right, and second half the past cked up a lot- can easily see why they finished third.
Job half done though, plenty decent performances, first legs can be a bit cagey, and this wasn`t a classic- I was glad to get back to the house! Heating on...

We failed to get a grip of midfield second half and O’Brien should have been at least yellow carded for his two footed challenge into Todd’s back in front of the NW. The ref I thought was dreadful.
We were hanging on a bit at the end and Arbroath looked more likely to score. Arbroath were fast and direct in possession and we were slow and more often took the easy option of passing backwards. Again I thought our best players were in defence and Mullen was my MoM.

Very positive interview from NL after the match. Big praise for Chris Kane and Andrew. I think he`s right to be so positive, we won the match and our players all got experience of the opposition. As he said, our men were maybe a wee bit rusty after ten? days off, so tonight`s match would`ve sharpened them up for the task on Friday.

Should`ve been at least another goal up in the first half, but second half Arbroath were better on the ball without threatening us all that much. They had the chance right at the start and the one near the end which the boy was about 5 yards offside. Tod unfortunate not to have scored from a couple of strong strikes.
Need to be more consistent on the ball throughout but defensively limited Arbroath to very little. That final ball at times is there for us to be ruthless, just making the wrong decision a little too often. You`ll take the lead up to Gayfield knowing if you get the first goal it`s a huge hill for them to climb.

Not a lot of quality on display, apart from Kane`s brilliant goal. On the whole we deserved our win, but that Arbroath side are a tough nut to crack, a team packed full of battlers. At times it looked to me like they were happy to take a narrow defeat into the home tie. I had hoped to have a couple of goals of a lead going into Friday`s match, but, when you think about it, they have to have a go at us now, and we have the players who can get at them on the break. I`d certainly rather be in our position than theirs
