Lennon has done great for us to get us here and to renovate this team - let`s hope he continues on. But I think today - he got a lot wrong.
We looked a different team in the second half, Maybe that was the plan.
That was pretty much our assessment tbh.

Ten minutes of the Arbroath game where he was isolated with Ryan Dow running at him was a red flag for today going against Maeda; got away with it then but sadly step up today in levels and was punished.
Abdulai in midfield in that same game made sense, ball was in the air for what seemed like 80% of the game and he dominated. Today was in amongst and up agsinst two best of the midfielders in the country and they passed around him for fun.
Two big calls - especially for a cup final - and this time it didn`t work out. We never laid a glove on Celtic in the first half and it`s really disappointing if nothing else.
Plus points i would say, despite the obvious success in change of shape, is there is a potential partnership there with Rudden and Kane. Fitness issues aside they linked up quite well, few good runs and seem to have a decent understanding.

I thought Neil got it wrong with the starting line up and the formation.
There were no surprises in the Celtic line up. Abdulai is our quickest centre back. I can see why he played there against a physical Arbroath side, but Celtic are not physical in there with MacGregor and Nygren. Celtic played with two wingers, so a back four would have made sense. Matty Todd and John Tod were caught out often in the first half with Tierney and Yang interchanging and Maeda’s clever movement in between the centre halves.
Up front, we had nobody to hold it up. We were probably fortunate to go in just two down?
Second half, the changes along with a rocket had the desired effect and we gave it a good go and the lads did very well.
I’m sure, with hindsight, Neil would have started with a team more akin to how the game finished.

Being honest, I was not impressed with the best team in Scotland!!
I’m not saying they weren’t better than us. Or that we were robbed.
I just thought we didn’t believe in ourselves in the first half. Watched Lennon going mental a few times, sorted things out at HT.
When second half started we snapped into tackles got in their faces and caused a few problems.
He assigned people certain jobs, these are international players we were up against, so a wee lack of concentration and you’re undone.
So well done to our young players, you would have taken this at the start of the season.

I`m typing this without hearing any punditry or seeing any re-runs of the match, so I may be quite wrong, but here goes.
Celtic went in at halftime 2-0 up from, firstly, a long ball that was either a perfectly judged pass or a hopeful punt that Tod misjudged, and secondly, a well-struck long-range effort that perhaps Oxborough was unsighted at, as he didn`t make much effort to stop it despite its seeming pretty close to him.
Apart from those two occasions, I don`t remember Oxborough making any saves, although there was a huge amount of Celtic pressure, we couldn`t clear our lines and they did look likely to score again. Against that, we had one very good chance when Scales (I think) cleared Morrison`s shot off the line.
To that extent, I think Lennon`s plan worked - almost! He was (presumably) aiming to frustrate Celtic and their fans by keeping the score level or down to one goal, and then unleashing his strike force in the 2nd half - he had Kane, Rudden, Cooper and Fyfe on the bench for this.
It`s utter nonsense IMO to suggest that Lennon threw the game - nobody gets to his position or has a career like his without being an out-and-out winner. His substitutions at halftime showed he still wanted to win the battle or be carried out on his shield, and had we scored in our spell of pressure before losing the third goal we would have been right back in it.
Many fans questioned the initial line-up, and I do think his persisting with Abdulai in midfield is a mistake. As a central defender Nuru is one of the best in the division, but as a midfielder he is bang average and prone to error. The first goal might have been avoided had it been Abdulai there rather than John Tod, for whom Maeda is far too fast. The Celtic midfield is not particularly physical (as it was with Roy Keane or Neil Lennon) and Amade would have offered more forward passing threat - although he did make some missed passes when he came on.
Andrew Tod seemed lost at times, and unsure of his role. I couldn`t see if or how well Tash was marking McGregor, but his style of play does seem overly lethargic at times. Perhaps Hamilton might have been a better choice, but with the obvious risk of a red card. Everyone else played about as well as anyone could expect.
Overall, we were well outplayed in the first half, but went toe-to-toe with the Scottish champions in the second half and matched them. Had the score been 1-0 at half-time it could have ended very differently. I was immensely proud of the team`s performance and the fans were magnificent too. But it`s the hope that kills you ...

The starting lineup was really weak.
I won’t get any thanks from most on here but Morrison should not be in that starting eleven.
He was brutal in the semi final and innefective today.
Boothe was crap as well and I don’t know if Lennon just gambled we get to halftime 0-0 or just a goal down before bringing on Kane (who should have started) but we were powderpuff up front and every Celtic fan I spoke to said how surprised they were by that.
I’m proud of each and every player though who gave it their all this campaign.

I think there is too much talk of tactics. Ultimately when you step on the park you have to stand up and take responsibility. We thought the team selection was odd first half. Their passing and movement caught us out quite a bit and they could have been 4 up by hslf time. You have to win cup finals. There is nowhere to hide on the park. I thought some of the players stood up well, some did not. A bit of a footballing lesson certainly first half. Second half we were better but then there was nothing to lose. Its about handling the pressure while you are still in the game. Good experience for the younger players, lessons to be learned. I think if they reflect on the game they will be better players for it. For those players who will move on, I wish them well. For those who stay, I see us building on this year, taking the experience of today and moving forward to improve next year.
