We would have stood a decent chance of getting past St Mirren.

Always difficult to be impartial when your own team is involved but had Motherwell not recalled Ox it’s hard not to think what might have been watching the dross on offer in the 1st half.

Looks like the Pars will be coming to my local stadium again next season, unless Thistle can find an equaliser and a winner. Don`t have much sympathy for them. Ashcroft kicked Andrew Tod all over the park.

The offside freeze frame is a bit of a joke. Doesn’t help.
My initial thought was that he was onside.

I think it`s better for the Pars to have Thistle in the Championship next season than St Mirren, who would have come down with a parachute payment and would probably have been favourites to go back up as champions.

Time to stop these silly play offs. Partick finished 2cd and
deserved to go up. I would say 2 up 2 down, and if there`s
to any play off them make it 3rd bottom in the
Premiership and 3rd top in the Championship.

Yeah u can`t really think he`d improve us, really don`t care what he does as long as its not with us.
Having watched both games of the final its a bit of a sore one to take as we`d defo gave st mirren a game. Maybe all those fixtures just caught up with us in the end, onto next season. Coyp

It was the goalkeeper errors, honestly think that’s all it was and the build up of fixtures wasn’t the reason.
We were in control of the game for most of the game, Partick had a decent spell when Watt came on which had we rode that wave without the blunders, think we would’ve been ok.

I actually thought we looked very leggy in the second leg, we looked done.
Similar to Thistle last year to be fair as well - silly amount of games if you finish 3rd or 4th.
C'mon Ye Pars!

I much prefer the English play-off system. It`s crazy that the 3rd and 4th placed teams in our Championship have to play six games to get into the Premiership.

I think for our promotion chances, Thistle staying down is a much better prospect. St Mirren have stronger finances and parachute payments etc would`ve helped them rebuild like St Johnstone did quickly.
Similar to our situation with some of our better players coming to the end of their deals, Thistle have Stanway, Fitzpatrick and Chalmers to name a few all out of contract. Clarke and Smyth were on loan and will head back to their parent clubs too.

Our leagues are too small, Thistle, St Mirren, Pars, Arbroath and a few others should all be in a top league of 18. The Old Firm can go off during a winter break to play each other in the States/Saudi/Australia wherever they want to get thier extra derbies.

They definately need a rethink with teams like DAFC, PT, RR etc, fighting it out and trying to stay financially afloat in the championship.

Premier Playoff is shown to favour the current Premier team statistically. 12 years of play-offs, only 3 (25%) have resulted in the Championship team being promoted.
Comparing that to the Championship playoffs, 7 out of 12 (58%) have resulted in the League 1 team being promoted.
Seasons 13/14 to 25/26 (note 19/20 had no playoff due to covid ending seasons early)
Time to stop rewarding failure - bottom 2 should be relegated. 2nd to 5th of lower leagues play in playoffs if they still want a playoff. Alternatively bin the playoffs and have top 2 promoted.

Be careful what you wish for.
If and when DAFC get promoted, in the following season we are more likely than not to be in the post-split Bottom Six, and quite possibly in a relegation battle.
We might then be very happy to finish 11th, with a tie against a Championship side to preserve our Premiership status.

I used to be of the opinion bigger leagues would be better, but there would be too many meaningless games. When you look at the 4 leagues in Scotland and the playoffs, the split, there are actually hardly any meaningless games, pretty much every game in every division, going into the final weeks of this season was important. We don`t have enough big teams to have a bigger top division. The 12 that will be in there next season are about right as the 12 biggest clubs at the moment, outwith the top tier only Partick Thistle and Dunfermline Athletic would add anything to that league. Imagine a 16 team top tier where those 14 teams would be pretty much permanent fixtures, and you would then have a Championship where there were really no teams that would enhance the Premiership with their presence, and we would regularly have kack teams like Ayr United, Arbroath and Raith Rovers, Greenock Morton changing places getting in the top flight. The league structure is probably about right as it is.

A bigger league doesn`t guarantee meaningless games - I can think of some big leagues - English Championship, Polish top flight, German 2nd Bundesliga - which in recent years the vast majority of teams have had things to play right until the end of the season. You can have a playoff system if you like for the Conference League place to give more of a chance of the middle teams having something to play for and if you have 3 relegation spots that should keep lots of teams on their toes.
I will concede, that it is likely that there are more but I counter that and say that a meaningless game might allow the opportunity for more youngsters to play - and so become meaningful. I am sure a lot of our kids that played against Airdrie benefitted from the experience.
All of the `kack teams` you have mentioned have had several seasons finishing above us or in the league above us...so not sure where that leaves us! It also gives these clubs more chance to develop their finances, infrastructure, fanbase...everything.
Finally, football is for the fans, especially those going to games. More variety of trips, more new places, new experiences.
