Champions League Final 5 pm KO.
Topic Originator: GG Riva

I know the CL is not everyone`s cup of tea, but PSG are almost always worth a watch, with their abundance of attacking talent. I can`t help thinking Arsenal will need a minor miracle to take the trophy back to London. I wouldn`t rule them out completely as PSG are not exactly watertight at the back, and if Arsenal open the scoring, they might just nick it.

I`m not sure why the traditional 8 pm ko has been abandoned, Budapest is CET, is it not, so just an hour ahead of the UK. I think Arsenal will have to wait a bit longer for their Champions of Europe medals. 3-0 PSG

I don’t usually take much interest in the champions league final these days but tbf a work colleague is a PSG fan - he’s actually from Paris believe it or not 🤣 so I would be happy for PSG to win

Score after 5 minutes then 10 behind the ball the rest of half and yet they nearly grab a second!
Had to laugh at the end of that half.....they take forever to take a long throw to ensure they get to H/T,get a corner and ref blows for H/T....cue them running complaining to the ref😂.
PSG movement is a joy to watch.

Their antics at the end of half was very amusing. They are such a dull watch. PSG need to cut them open, or this will go down as the worst CL Final in my life time.

Time to make keepers temporarily leave the pitch when they get treatment, like everyone else on the pitch. This goalie cramp to give everyone a tactical break has been laughable this season.

🙏🏼 for footballs sake that PSG can win this.
Need to find a way to stop anti-football.
10 men behind the ball most of the game and relying on long throws/corners.
Boring as Fxck.

Watch the full sequence - Mendes puts his across madueke first. That`s the initial foul, it`s outside the box, but the first foul is definitely by Mendes.

It’s not a shirt grab into box, so the minute Madueke grabs him and pulls him into him to go down, it’s not a pen.

Arsenal relying on set pieces and they’ve had a whopping 2 corners all night. It’s been an embarrassing display from them today. And no doubt they will win it.

Nailed it for me. Arsenal may be on the brink of a double and yet are boring as Fxck to watch.YES I would have accepted us doing it last week at Hampden But they rely on such a boring defensive style then throws/corners and thrive in the "dark arts".
Not seen any comments about "saving football"

Shades of the 2021 Euro final - early lead, anti football rest of the game and bottling on pens.

I say bottling because the PSG keeper was so bad in his attempts at saving pens that all Arsenal had to do was get them on target to win and they failed at that.

"AND the World Cup". Do you know something we don`t, wee eck? 🤔

As for the game, that was pretty dire. It`s hard not to put the blame firmly on the old @rse for that. Contrast the final with PSG`s epic semi-final encounter with Bayern, who went toe to toe.

Arteta`s Arsenal are reminiscent of some of the club`s previous incarnations, when their supporters regularly used to sing "One nil, to the Arsenal..."

Arsenal have been my 2nd club for about 40 years. Gutted we didn’t manage to win this evening. Would have been great to of celebrated the double. Sadly it came down to the lottery of penalties. I must admit that watching us play if you are neutral will be frustrating and not entertaining. I myself wish we would play a bit more attacking football as we are definitely capable of it. But the first rule of winning a football game is not to lose it. Certainly PSG had lots of shots at goal but if you check the stats, the majority were not in target.
I’m sure if the Pars win the league next season by winning most games “one nil too the Pars” none of us will be complaining.

1986/7 we got promoted to the Premier having won 9 of 23 wins by 1-0, including the first three matches, and had the lowest goals against in the league…
However, despite those figures we were significantly more attack minded than Arsenal were.

But to answer your statement, of course we would take a load of 1-0 wins!

I guess if I had an english team it would be Arsenal, on account of my grandad playing for them, but I`m glad PSG won, good attacking team. They could be set to dominate for a while now. Arsenal played some decent football under Wenger, but before and after they`ve often played successful but dull, functional football, with the George Graham era typifying the worst example.

Many people tag penalty kicks as a lottery. I don’t agree. It’s a test of technique, skill and nerve. Two of Arsenal’s players failed to hit the target from 12 yards.

BTW, how come Madueke didn’t take one ahead of a centre half ?

@RTL I suppose the penalty takers would be decided way before the game had even kicked off. They would have all practised and the most confident players would put their names on the list. If they have the confidence to take one then let them have a go. I don’t think I would have put Tash down to take a penalty in the semi. But he had the confidence to have a go.

PSG fans trash their own city. Setting fire to cars and bikes and causing chaos. What’s this current trend of trashing the place you live in.Celtic fans were at it as well after winning the league. It should be time of friendly celebration. I’ve never once felt the need to smash a window or set fire to something when celebrating a Pars victory. Should get the scumbags locked up in isolation and then give them some hard labour.

It should be time of friendly celebration. I’ve never once felt the need to smash a window or set fire to something when celebrating a Pars victory. Should get the scumbags locked up in isolation and then give them some hard labour.

Harassing lots of Arsenal fans just trying to get back to their hotels too. Absolute scumbags.

Genuinely don`t get the hate Arsenal fans get. It`s bizarre.

Gabby Agbonlahor who has no link to Arsenal at all broadcasting in a PSG shirt. Crazy.

Think the fans get it because of entitlement. They were getting upset that fans of others clubs weren’t backing them to win the CL.

Also, their football and manager don’t help the situation. Arteta is a complete tool on the sidelines. Cant stay in his technical area for more than 10 seconds at a time. He is infuriating.

I watched the game in a north London pub with a load of Arsenal fans. No entitlement whatsoever. Disappointment, yes, but also acknowledgment that PSG were better.

None of them thought Arsenal have some kind of divine right to win it.

And hating fans because the manager is irritating is beyond harsh.

I don’t mind Arteta jumping around in the sidelines. He’s playing every ball along with the players. Better that than a manager just sitting in the dugout looking like he doesn’t care.

This^^^^

OlderPars fans will shudder at the memory of Jocky Scott, who used to lean on the outside of the dugout, occasionally looking at his watch - the epitome of boredom. His team managed to squander a 7 pt lead over Killie with 5 games remaining, meaning we missed out on promotion.

Not surprisingly, he was sacked, but he wasn`t happy and demanded £90k compensation. I don`t know if he got anything for his brass neck.

Not your average Sunday League player.

Used to watch Arsenal from the North Bank with my cousins back in 1969, what a delight that was. Teams with a sprinkling of Scottish, Welsh & Irish players, way before money became king!

Don`t like Arteta, so not much fussed.

Even saw the Pars play there 1967, night before Wembley?🤔
