Just arrived in Livingston, a wee heads up. There are roadworks on the dual carriageway when you come off the M8. Really busy just now 👍🏁🏁

Worry about us at corners particularly against Kabongolo who scored twice in the one game against us last season.
Need to start winning soon but a draw is acceptable today.

4-2-3-1?

Ox

Lobban Abdullai Harding Fraser

Amade Oliywoth

Bray Tod Morrison

Shaw

That would be my guess anyway. Unless Lobban at RCB and Bray RWB?

That is a physically small looking midfield which concerns me and so many changes which will be ver disruptive. Glad to see Bray getting a start hope he grabs it with both hands.

6 changes. The shape should be interesting.

Great to see Abdullai back.

Donnelly, Kane and Gilmour not at their best last week.

Hopefully Morrison and Tod are wider so we aren`t so narrow and can get the ball into the channels earlier, rather than pushing wingbacks forward once the opposition are all set.

Mention A.Tod and no one can handle it, hilarious.

Surprised at so many changes but as last weeks performance was pretty poor then I suppose the changes are justified. Formation change was a must. Not sure in Allan or Abdulai will be fully fit but plenty options on the bench.

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Glad the formation has changed, as it left us overrun in midfield every game. Big opportunity for Morrison to prove his worth.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

He’s certainly made some changes and taken out a few who haven’t started the season great, Tod lucky to stay in but good he’s got a chance upfront with shaw and let’s see how it works, I think they both only want to get on the end of things so it maybe won’t work but worth trying and it’s better than Tod behind the 2 strikers.

Some bench too!

Horrible time to lose a goal and probably against the overall balance of play.

But that`s what you can expect if you actually get your shots on target.

Been the better team, Livi done nothing really up until they scored.

We don’t get enough chances created in the final third, we’re still lacking someone who can produce a bit of magic.

Lennon has his work cut out again, fingers crossed we can get back into this.

Playing a lot better today than we have been in previous games. But we’re still pretty toothless when it comes to creating anything meaningful. And that sucker punch is exactly what’ll happen if we don’t make the most of being on top.

Its typical Livi there for the taking , we have 10 attempts at goal 5 on target
Livi have 3 attempts one on target and score
Raith on top of table and this early we are 5 points behin forgot to add we had this bad habit last year of losing goals at HT

Cmon pars get the finger oot

a game we have dominated but with one attack we are undone. Actually think Morrison and Tod are playing well but need more support from midfield - - suspect Shaw will be off and Kane on if fit. Livi. have been poor for large parts of the game but we let them into it last 15 mins.

I dont think we can let Lennon keep bringing in players. He should have enough by now to get a winning team on the park. Poor stuff from Lennon this season.

We didn`t defend the ball well at all for the goal.4 players around him, he gets his shot away and on target.

We need to create and take chances 2nd half.importantly need to get more shots on target.

I think the problem is we are ineffective up front. Frantic in the first half, but we lack the composure in the forward areas. Huffing and puffing but thats really all we seem to do.

We need to see much more from the forwards in terms of at least hitting the target.

We simply ran out of ideas as the game progressed

Starting to worry Lenny hasn’t focussed enough on the final 3rd of the pitch.

Massive squad now but not set up to create enough and still lacking that quality in creating and the quality in taking the chances.

We’re miles away from competing at the top of this league.

How did Allan do?

We’ll do well to finish anywhere near the top if this continues. We can’t buy a goal. We were miles off it in the second half and really should have been at least three down. Lennon needs to figure out how we can create more chances and maybe bring someone in who can convert them.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Do you trust him to bring in someone to take these chances?

He brought in Rudden, Adams, Shaw already.

Should have been at least 2 up at half time. We didn`t take our chances. Hit with a sucker punch and that clearly got to us and blew our plan out the water.

Dreadful start to the season without actually being that bad. Just can`t take our chances. Something needs to happen against Raith. Another lose there and some serious pressure is on Lennon.

Very poor. Got to take the chances in the first half. Second half they didn`t look like they believed they were getting back into it. Low energy final 20 minutes especially.

Lennon needs to find his best 11 and let them become a unit. It`s a bunch of strangers hitting and hoping at the moment.

The lack of creativity in the middle is killing us. Everything we do going forward goes out wide, and despite the volume of crosses into the box, no Pars player ever looks in danger of actually getting on the end of one. Too easy to defend against and completely one dimensional in attack.

Guys calm down, it’s okay, Lennon will say it’s his fault, we’re a week behind and he’s got work to do to find a way and he’s embarrassed and we’ll be better next week etc etc.

Last week we were too passive but we still play the most passive player in the league every week in the hope he sticks on in. Shaw offers nothing different.

We still need a target man as we don’t have the quality in wide areas to pick people out.

Morrison looked a threat in the first half, then we stopped going that route in the second half. It’s embarrassing. 1-0 down and there’s no fight or anyone providing any sort of quality to get us back in the game and we were lucky it wasn`t 3-0. We need to get this sorted.

Well like others im totally deflated by the start to the season
We all knew we didnt have quality in the final 3rd and today once again has proven it , we needed experience in that department if we were serious about mounting a challenge at the right end of the league
1 goal in 3 games is pretty naff !
Table pretty crap also we are sitting 8th with 2 points and this is all on our own merit !
Friday night we play our rivals who are already 5 points in front of us , lose Friday night make it 8 points , certainly hoping we can win on Friday night but im not confident we can take anything from the game , its goals that win games and we aint scoring at present , NL has now got a big job on his hand to get our season kick started
I really thought we wojld be doing better than this
And our bad habit from last season is back losing goals at HT and FT

Shaw was completely anonymous and that`s been the case every time he`s played against anyone higher than League 1.

How Morrison got 82min is beyond me. Tod wasn`t great but taking him and Bray off, who did reasonably well, before Morrison is a mystery. He can`t beat a man and when he doesn`t have honking first touch and put the ball out for a goal kick, his crosses never get beyond the front post.

Thought Fraser was decent although both goals came from his side, and Oyirworth showed some good touches and looks promising.

Lennon - we dominated foes and half. Dispute good play we didn`t score. Really disappointed we didn`t take chances. Miles better performance from last week. Too nice on both boxes. We need to find an extra bit of power. Subs didn`t have the impact we wanted. We have to learn and adapt quickly. Second half performance was awful I’ve watched better football over the park on a Sunday. I could count on one hand how many touches Shaw had in that game. Late subs as usual. When it was obvious from the start of the second half we were miles of it.

Toothless on the final third.

Sick of hearing the same story from Lennon now. He doesn’t know his starting 11 and what formation to play. It’s all experimental in the hope something works.

He ain’t earning what we are paying him and that’s the reality at the minute, and when it starts going wrong we know how that ended up at Hibs.

every game is a must win nowadays.

"Too nice on both boxes. We need to find an extra bit of power. Subs didn`t have the impact we wanted."

find as in sign? not the first time hes gone on about that, good thing we have signed 11 players and not addressed it, add in the comments that were in the Courier yesterday about needing to find answers, maybe change formation, find the right line up etc, its ridiculous to be in this position after 8 competitive games.

so go in to today, another game, a different formation and system but still the same problems, all huff and no puff and far too easy to play against and none if it is a surprise. a squad of 27 players including the injured Connor Young (CitizenPar), there is not an 11 there in any system with far too many nowhere near good enough to play consistently at this level.

Thought first half we played really well, had some chances although not clinical enough.

Oyirworth again looked really good, Morrison first half was good, thought Bray was really good, defensively we looked good - really didn’t see much wrong to be honest.

Think the goal from Livvy was the one shot on target they had that half, such a sucker punch.

Second half Oyirworth could have scored early but after that the game just petered out a bit and Livvy had a bit more control, in the end we were fortunate it only finished 2-0.

Morrison was a totally different player second half, you could be forgiven for thinking Shaw didn’t play today, so anonymous. Tod yet again a waste of a jersey. Subs didn’t work.

Nice finish for their second.

First 20-30 minutes it looked like a really positive response to last week`s garbage. We were urgent and positive without creating too many clear cut chances. Then we lose a goal on half time and look drained of belief and energy the rest of the game.

No point in singling out names of players for criticism because there are plenty who are not performing to their standards and everyone has a different opinion on who`s played ok and who contributing nothing. So in this case I think the buck stops with the management and coaching staff. Too many changes suggests NL doesn`t know what the solution is. Being `one week behind` starts to lose credibility if you`re still making wholesale changes to tactics and personnel after 8 games and coming away with another Pars nil performance.

And for all the criticism of our forwards (often justified) the quality of our passing/crossing into the box is terrible. On the surface it looks fine as we are in promising positions and a ball goes in but the quality is gash. I can`t think of a cross that didn`t hit the first man or go wafting away to the back post. Often it seems they don`t even look, it just gets played somewhere in the general direction of the box. It`s not picking out a target so unless we get lucky it produces nothing.

Their first goal came from a guy who, despite 3 Pars players in his face, just seemed to drop a shoulder and give himself tonnes of time and space for a nice curling finish. Compare that to us and we`ve got players in similar positions on the edge of the box who do well to hit the stand.

Only 3 league games in and we`ve played a couple of title/playoff contenders so definitely not panic stations. We play sporadic passages of decent stuff albeit with no end product yet so signs we can do it.

No doubt we`ll gub the rovers and all will be forgotten. COYP

Who have we brought in who is better that what we had last season? So far prob only Allan who looks better than Tash.

The rest look the same or worse from a team who had a good 2nd half of the season just to finish 4th. We’ll still relying on Abdulai and Kane by the looks of it.

If previous seasons are anything to go by we’ll beat rovers then slip back to old ways for a couple of games…then trundle on.

Lenny might just to drop he who shall not be named, this isn’t a league you can carry passengers.

Kind of deflated. Showing same signs as last season. I fear it’s going to be a mixed bag until late on.
The late window signings are a nightmare really wish we could get a head start on recruitment for once. Partick registered majority of theirs on first day of window.

I’m not pressing panic button obviously but hate the fact the early results punish us at the end of the season. We had to fight for 4th last season and we only started playing well after the Hibs win.

I’m confident in NL’s ability we just need that to transfer into goals and points. I have a feeling Morrison (who I am not the greatest fan of) and A Tod will be our key partnership.

"“It’s got to be better, it should be better. And that comes down to quality"

couple of selected lines....the usual weekly comment about final ball and finishing...as for quality, they dont have it and no amount of coaching/training will change that.

going back to another one about too nice in each box, last week it was lacking pace at the back....you signed/re-signed all these guys, you pick the side then seem surprised the same things keep happening!

Which signings have we made that have really been that bad?

Allan Oyirworth - great player
Oxborough - great keeper
Lobban - looks good
SCH - looks solid
Donnelly is alright
Adam’s - not really had enough minutes to rate

One could argue Dibaga hasn’t had best of starts but back up keeper and Robinson seems a bit restrictive in terms of ability but other than that?

Shaw probably the one stand out but got to feel he’ll come good at some point.

Think it’s more the players from the previous season tbh:

Both Tod’s have been really poor
Morrison poor
Gilmour has started really poor
Kearney has been poor
Rudden when he’s been on has been poor

Not long home and I’m absolutely raging.

First things first though, fair play to Livi. They deserved to win in the end and, if we’re being honest, it could have been 3 or 4. They had one cleared off the line, should probably have had a penalty and somehow missed an open goal after hitting the bar from the free kick. I’m not sure what Prior did to get MOTM, but he’ll never have an easier clean sheet and MOTM combo.

The frustrating thing is that I thought we were tremendous on the ball in the first half. We seem to have signed a group of really technically gifted footballers and, at times, the build up play looked Premiership level. Oyirwoth looks some addition and was a class above at times. The cross field passing from him and Amade was superb. Tod was having his best game in a long time, Morrison looked good, Abdulai was strolling about winning everything, C-H looked unfazed and drove forward with the ball, while Lobban looks another cracking addition and gave us the same sort of energy on the right that Fraser gives us on the left.

I kept thinking, “Once we score, that’ll be it.”

And therein lies the problem.

For all the neat, tidy, technical footballers we have, who actually grabs the game by the scruff of the neck? Who creates something out of nothing? Who unlocks a defence?

Livi dug in, waited for their opportunity and took it. Fair play to Van Hoeven as well, I thought he looked good and for the goal he tied our defence in knots before curling it past Ox.

At Half Time I still thought we’d be ok if we came out and went up a gear. Personally, I’d have taken Shaw off then. I appreciate the service into him wasn’t great, but Kabongolo had him in his pocket and Shaw didn’t seem to have an answer. At least Kane, Adams or Rudden would have battled physically with him and maybe got some joy.

Of the new signings, Goalkeepers aside, Shaw is probably the first one I’m starting to have doubts about. I’m not writing him off after 3 league games and a few cup appearance, but at the moment I’m struggling to see what he offers us as the starting Striker. I’m not exactly Rudden’s biggest fan either, but I’m just not seeing it with Shaw yet.

Anyway, I expected us to come flying out in the second half. Far from it. If anyone went up a gear, it was Livingston. They suddenly looked like the side expected to challenge for the title and we struggled badly. We couldn’t get on the ball and, when we did, we were poor with it.

I won’t criticise the effort. We huffed, puffed, chased and battled, but once again we lacked someone capable of producing that bit of creativity to unlock a defence. Lennon can point to the two decent saves from Oyirwoth, but it feels like the same issue we’ve seen against St Mirren, ICT, Ayr and, according to my son, Ross County. We just don’t create enough clear cut chances.

As Lennon became increasingly desperate, understandably, I also thought some of the deficiencies in the squad became more obvious.

Cooper replaced Tod but offered very little. I know Josh has that “impact” in his locker, but he still looks like a League One player to me.

Then Adams and Rudden replaced Bray and Shaw on 72 minutes (rather than at Half Time as I’d hoped). Rudden ran about, gave us some much needed energy and certainly couldn’t be faulted for effort, but again I’m left wondering what the answer is there. Adams worked hard too and at least got on the ball and drove us up the park a couple of times. But neither of them had any real supply. Neither did Kane when he eventually came on.

Quite frankly, the Second Half started poorly, gradually became p*sh and finished very p*sh. Some of that was obviously because we were chasing the game, but some of it was because Livingston were simply better. They could easily have made the scoreline embarrassing.

The drive home was pretty quiet and my son eventually asked, “What are you thinking, Dad?”

Truthfully? I don’t know.

On one hand, I genuinely think we’ve improved the squad. There’s no TOB, Hamilton, Bene etc anymore, technically their replacements look better. Individually, I think we have improved… yet somehow, as a team, we’re currently playing worse.

Then I think back to that First Half and find myself thinking, “When this clicks, we’re going to be formidable.”

But will it click? Do we actually have that creative player who can make it click? That’s the bit I’m beginning to question.

So, in short, I genuinely don’t know what to think.

What I do know is that it’s been a dreadful start to the season. Money has been spent, the squad has been strengthened and the pressure is now on Lennon to find the solution, and find it quickly.

If the Wee Team win on Friday, we’re 8 points off the top already. Even in a league as unpredictable as the Championship, that’s a hell of a gap to be trying to claw back this early.

Plenty of time to turn it around, but we need to start seeing signs of it soon.

I don`t see RR as a must win, more we need to win it to keep in touch with the leaderboard. There are alot of points still to play for but St J last season got off to a good start and kept going. The forwards need to start to score goals or at least hit the target. Our best opportunities fell to Oyirwoth and he was playing in midfield. He looks a player. The crosses are going in but in alot of cases it felt a bit like we were just crossing and hoping rather than playing with a bit of purpose. I also think that as the opposition pack the box, we need to be a threat from outside the box or from the edge of the box.

Just have to plug away and try and be more purposeful and clinical in front of goal.

If, as NL claims, their goalie won MOM, we must have been doing something right. I recall him having several outstanding saves in the first half and one in the second but I can`t recall whether any were `sitters`. According to the BBC he had seven saves and Ox only had one. We had 14 shots (7 on target) and they had 11 (4). So it`s fine margins rather than us being way off the pace.

The first goal was a poor one to lose and a double whammy in that it was a kick in the teeth for us but also gave them a massive boost as evidenced by their start to the second half. We certainly faded after that and the subs smacked of desperation rather being a calculated attempt to turn the game. For Friday I`d be tempted to make as few changes as possible. Kane for Shaw probably and maybe find a place for Freddie Turley if NL says we`re too nice.

Trawling through the comments on the thread I noted one question - `How did Allan do?` - presumably from someone who wasn`t actually at the game. It didn`t stop him criticising the team selection or the signings though. Can you guess who it was, boys and girls?

It`s a strange one Wee Eck. I was like the commentary team and Buster above in being amazed the Livi goalie was their MOM. There`s many on here clearly saw the game and felt we ended up well beaten.

I looked at the stats at half time and saw the amount of shots and on-target shots they reported and was concerned I`d had senior lapse and zoned out for portions of the game :-) as I couldn`t remember that many (Amade`s shot helped over the bar was one that I saw).

Oyirworth`s bicycle kick (?) was a good save second half but other than that were there many outstanding saves? I guess so if he was MOM but I didn`t come away thinking we`d been hard done by with the final score. More concrened it could and should have been more with the sitters they missed second half.

Hopefully our rub of the green with all these shots is due next game.

No wonder Falkirk fans laughed when we signed Morrison…he’s a very average football player that runs about and does nothing.
Shaw on the other hand is a box finisher but if he doesn’t get the service then he won’t score.!!
It’s not rocket science and we need to stat 4-4-2 against Raith..

Morrison came to us and looked lively but got injured not long after that. He has 100% lost a bit of pace since returning which was one of his main attributes. I thought he done decent today in fairness to him.

I dunno hoolie, sometimes it just depends how physical the player he is up against is as if he’s up against a decent defender they just ease him out of it all the time as Morrison is too small.

A front 3 of Morrison, Tod and shaw is as lightweight as it gets.

I don`t doubt Callum Morrisons committment and effort. I think he just needs to be a bit more efficient with the ball. He has been a bit unlucky with a couple of efforts over the last few games. At least he has been prepared to shoot at goal when the chance arises. He has been struggling to beat his man, but that wasnt the issue today. I am not sure why we are ineffective in front of goal, ie forwatds not taking up the right positions, quality of ball into the box, one pass too many, etc. Oyirwoth had our best opportunities and he is a midfielder so A Tod, K Bray, and O Shaw and C Morrison not producing the goods? Not sure. These players should be able to produce 2 or 3 goals amongst them in a game. Alfons is such a good passer of the ball but can`t hit the target when he has a pop at goal. He is capable of much better and should be good for 8-10 goals a season with the positions he takes up on the edge of the box. Maybe next week it will come together.

Falkirk fans saw him as an exciting, highly productive but imperfect attacking winger—roughly 8/10 at League One level and 6.5–7/10 in the Championship. The hostility now is predominantly about how he left and subsequently joined Dunfermline, rather than a belief that he was never a good player. His best role is running beyond the striker or attacking space from wide areas; he is less effective as a conventional touchline creator expected to retain possession and consistently deliver crosses.

We’ve been pretty gash since before last seasons play-offs. We have obviously got better since Lennon came in but at the moment we are extremely disappointing. Signing a bunch of Irish players isn’t exactly thrilling stuff. Cheap though I’d imagine. If we hadn’t signed Ox we’d be in an even more alarming position.

I wasn`t jumping for joy at the signing of Shaw. I never understood the excitement his name brought, never mind that useless lump of a winger that put on a couple of reasonable performances t earn a contract before reverting to type. We signed a decent keeper, the rest are risks. Hopefully it pays off but it`s not looking promising so far.

We lost the one player (hated by many) that was capable of a touch of creative input. Only Andrew Tod can save us now.

I wasn`t at the game yesterday, so I don`t feel I can comment on it or the performances of individual players, but that`s an excellent post from Buster Brown at 19.34. He encapsulates the frustration and bewilderment of so many other fans at how the team could have played so well in the first half but so poorly in tane second.

It`s hard to avoid the conclusion that, much like our season opener v Ayr, conceding a goal just before half-time gave the opposition a real lift and simultaneously gave our lads a collective kick in the nether region. It`s all very well to say that this shouldn`t happen, but players are only human, and confidence plays a huge part in affecting performance.

For me, it’s definitely not all doom and gloom. I’m actually happy with the signings. We’ve built real strength and depth across the park. With so many new boys coming in, we just need a bit of time to put a run together. I’m not panicking at all because I trust Lennon and the process.

I thought we were excellent in the first half, and Allan looks a player, moves like a young Paul Pogba. Yesterday just felt like one of those days. We haven’t won away at Livi in years, so losing there wasn’t exactly a shock. The second goal comes from us pushing to get back into the game, and I’m not bothered by that. We were chasing something, and we were already behind.

It will click. When it does, someone is going to take a heavy one, hopefully Raith on Friday night.

I will say I was surprised to see Robinson and Donnelly dropped. From what I’ve seen, I like both of them, and I’m hoping Lennon settles on his best XI sooner rather than later. Being realistic, I’d have taken a draw yesterday. We’re creating chances; as Lennon said, we’re just not ruthless enough yet.

Difficult one for me yesterday, being a season ticket holder for 20+ years in the Norrie to then be commentating for Livingston - the proper half and half scarf was out!

Trying to be relatively neutral, I thought Dunfermline were much better in the first 45 and were well ahead in the game before a bit of magic from van Hoeven. However he did take a lot of touches in the area without any major pressure but the finish was very decent and left OX no chance.

The issue for me is nothing stuck, there was a few efforts from outside the area and Oyirwoth really should have scored from about 8 yards as well. Shaw was very poor and got bullied by the 2 centre backs in Kabongolo and Iseni. Anderson was similar for long periods against Abdulai and CH but grew into it more and as soon as that happened Livingston had more joy.

Second half, Oyirwoth has a very good effort and I said it on commentary that anywhere other than central and it`s a definite equaliser and probably shifts the whole dynamic of the game.

I don`t think either team really did enough, but the longer it went Dunfermline were just running out of huff and puff and then Livingston looked more dangerous going the other way.

Spoke to one of the Pars players post match, thought Pars were good for at least 1 if not 3 points in the end - would definitely agree with 1.

Just far too safe, no cutting edge. Tod had no impact on the game, I thought Bray was very good for spells in the game. Morrison dangerous opening...35 or so then died in the game and Shaw non existent. We really struggle without a fit Chris Kane.

On to the Rovers!

C'mon Ye Pars!

The only issue we have is no purpose and decisiveness around the box. When you are not scoring goals it puts pressure on the defence. Defenders push further forward to try and create something and that leavee us exposed. We need our forward players to produce something at the end of the day.

I`m not a massive Morrison fan, was fed up seeing him get pushed off the ball too often.

Yesterday though, I thought he was really good. Starting the match well it must`ve given him some confidence. A shame we didn`t have Kane on to get on the end of his crosses. He needs to be kept out wide.

He looked burst after about 60 minutes, surprised he was kept on as long as he was as he wasn`t replicating his first half performance (not that any players were).

Nice to see Nuri back though!

I think yesterday looked much better than what we`ve seen in the other league games, certainly in the first half. We just need to find a finishing touch. Inverness and Livi are two tough away fixtures to have in the opening 3 games but if we`re serious about being up there come the end of the season, we need to start converting those dominant periods into better chances and goals, Lennon doesn`t know his best system or XI which is difficult when you have such a large turnover of players.

Against both Ayr and Livi we had long portions with possession but really didn`t capitalise on the opposition being on the backfoot. In both games we`ve conceded a goal on HT which has taken the wind out of the sails.

Part of the issue is that Lennon has built this season`s team with the same 3 in the back in mind as last season imo, when I think it would`ve been better to play with a team that utilised wingers and more explosive attacking threats. The loss of Ngwenya and JCM can`t be understated, they were crucial to our good run at the end of last season and to the system we played.

Lots of neat and tidy bits up to the final third where we have absolutely no idea how to break down a stubborn defence. You need a mauler in the box or someone rapid up front that can get in behind, we have neither. Kane is our best option but it`s difficult managing his fitness.

As for Tod and Shaw, think they need to come out of the team, simply haven`t been good enough in their link up going forward or turning promising opportunities into goals. I`m no Morrison fan, but he is far better out wide and that first half was the best he`s played in a long while, Bray also had promising signs considering he`s had very few starts with us. Abdulai is great to get back and Oyirworth looks a find to me. This is a big moment for Lennon despite how early in the season it is, he`s been given a big backing and this is now his team after 3 transfer windows, we have to start putting wins together to compete at the top of the league.

Yes, the suggestion that we are no worse than we were at the same stage last season is hardly something to celebrate. In our last two games at East End Park we`ve had approximately 5,000 fans to the opposition`s 100 and still could only manage a draw and a defeat. We`ve had to suffer Ayr United celebrating a 1-1 draw as if they had just won the league and Ross County, in the division below beating us with a late goal. They had so few fans there that the guy next to me had to turn up his hearing aid to hear them. Like some others, I have found Shaw`s contributions somewhat underwhelming. We really do need to shake off the tag of being this league`s perennial under achievers and get our act together. Let`s not leave it to the last few games to scrape into the top 4. With our resources and fan base we should be leading the pack.

I think when you don`t notice a contribution from players there is a problem. Watching back the highlights, for me there seems to be a bit of a lack of belief that the ball will come in to the box. Both Livingstons goals came from about 10-12 yards out where there is a bit more space and you can use defenders in front of you to unsight the keeper. We seem to be forced out wide, put the ball into the 6 yard box that is crowded with defenders and hope to get something from it. Or we are forced to shoot from acute angles. I think with the players we are much more likely to get goals from a bit further out where you will get a little more time on the ball and have the opportunity to face the goal. My observation of Callum Morrison is similar to the comments made by Falkirk supporters ie he is a bit greedy and doesn`t look up. You may get away with that in league 1 and score goals, but in the championship not so much. For me he will be a better player if he looks for a better option rather than shooting from tight angles. He is no good with his back to goal due to his stature, but turning in tight areas and running on to balls is his strength. I also dont think Ollie Shaw is a box striker. He needs time and space.

Its fair to say in alot of ways we are starting again this season. I am sure it will come together, but this league is unforgiving so it needs to be soon.

Once we get a win we will be off the mark. No better team to do it against than RR.

I get everyone has their favourites and we get the rose tinted glasses on when there are pars fans playing for us etc but it’s interesting to see shaw getting pelters for the same things Andrew Tod has been doing for a season now. Yes he scores a few goals but 88 minutes a game he’s very much ineffective.

I don’t think shaw and Tod can play in the same team, not got the workrate or interest when we don’t have the ball and both not physically up to it.

Not there only seen highlights, but still struggle with wide player who cant get past and cant cross so send it back⁰, the rare crosses are poor with no one on the end. We need to also go down the centre, buts only kane can recieve. Ball forwatd, centre lays it off to someone who moves and hey Presto space, but we dont through fear or lack of skills.

Regarding crosses into the box , our crosses very rarely find a pars player, often we bomb down the wing and just fire it in towards the box, and its either over hit or we cannot get it past the first defender , but my main point is we rarely seem to look up and try and pick a pars player to cross it into it`s always just fired in and players seem to think job done !
Where other teams seem to be able to pick out their man regulary sort this out which is easier said than done and we might actually score a goal or two ( then it could be we give attackers far too much space)
Here`s hoping we have our shooting boots on for Friday night
Cmon ye pars

Stats are the more balls into the box and goals will be scored…maybe we are missing a Ally Mcoist type of player who does this…oh wait we signed Connor Young and he doesn’t get a sniff in the team?
Football isn’t a very tactical game when you look at it…get the ball up the park quick and score in between the metal posts…if that doesn’t happen then get the ball of the opposition player before they attack.. If the opposition team score a goal you have to score 1 more goal than them…That’s it!

Exactly this, Tod is void of criticism or even being benched no matter how many bad games he plays in a row.
A few players haven’t started the season well and come under some fire but mention Tod and you better get your tin hat on.

You`re contradicting yourself saying Tod`s void of criticism and then saying you get grief if you criticise him! He`s probably the most criticised player on this forum.

And he was subbed yesterday halfway through the second half. I can`t say I noticed any improvement after he went off but that was true of all the subs.

Still waiting for Berkey to tell us who had a good game yesterday.

Saying Tod is "void of criticism" has to be a laugh surely?.

Our delivery into the box, either via dead balls or open play, has been appalling so far this season.

So in training go through passages of play when the winger receives the ball and takes on the defender/ or cuts into to put a cross in our forwards are there to challenge/put the ball in the back of the net…it’s not rocket science or and you might argue we have to big of a squad now??

Think it’s fair to say that Tod’s form last season built him some goodwill and big fans going into this season but ever since his last Scotland call up (which he 100% deserved at the time) he’s been really poor.

Both Tod’s shouldn’t be in the first team lineup at the moment.

In response to Wee Eck on who played well, I thought there were a few, Oyirwoth, Lobban, Bray in particular stood out.

Despite losing the two goals, thought defensively we looked good as well for majority of the game.

Morrison had a good first half.

Tod and Shaw were anonymous pretty much the whole game.

Tod was playing, presumably under instructions, virtually as a left winger which was a waste for me as one of his strengths is finding space in the box. Oyirwoth got into the box a few times to support Shaw and did manage to test the keeper.

It’s basic stuff we are not doing, that infuriates me . Can’t cross a ball above head height, and blasting way over everybody in the box.I know that sounds contradictory, but come on,that’s basic stuff.

I’d also chuck Nurdeen in there as players that played well I think nearer the end you seen he was lacking in match fitness but did well especially first half

Also think we kill our attacks before they start most of time with the passes instead of playing a pass in front of someone to get them on the front foot straight away it’s always into their body so takes one or two touches more to get driving forward and by that time the defender is already closed them down I would say bray was excellent and he was really the only that would try play a pass in front of someone but for some reason the player would be standing still and it goes out for a throw in

Connor Young is like Mcoist aye?? Maybe that’s why Lennon doesn’t play him 😂

That’s up there with the craziest of comparisons made on here. Boy scored a few in the lowest tier of Scottish football and is being compared to one of the premiers all time scorers. Wow!

I recall seeing McCoist playing for St J at EEP when he was 17. He scored a cracking goal from 25-30 yards. You could see his natural ability at that age.

Based on what, though? He scored goals in League Two and is untested at a higher level than that, apart from 12 poor appearances in the championship where he didn`t score. We create chances, and a good few at that, but our end product or killer instinct is absent. All the strikers have had chances and have failed to take them. I don`t see Connor Young, even if he was fit and match sharp, being our saviour in that department.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

How did it end at hibs remind me?

The most balanced interpretation is that poor form created pressure, Lennon’s confrontational management style produced an internal flashpoint, and his relationship with senior management became irretrievable. However, the more serious stories circulated at the time were never substantiated publicly, and Hibs formally cleared him of wrongdoing. A month later, he became Celtic’s interim manager.

I base my views on the facts on the achievements at Dunfermline;

1. 3rd place finish in the league where he had a squad he effectively inherited
2. Scottish cup final
3. A squad changeover this season with 3 key players who have decided to move on. An element of starting again and building a new squad is obviously needed.
4. Given a new squad, the players who have come in are potentially better in my view hence why we have offered longer contracts. Some players haven`t had alot of 1st team experience but with regular game time the potential to improve is visible.
5. AI is a fact of life and is used by many clubs in Scotland and England. Its here to stay and a tool like any other. On balance with NL`s experience it looks a good fit to improve the overall potential of the club.
6. He inherited a team 9th in the league with 7 games remaining and kept us up. 51 points last season compared to 35 the season before.

My assessment: Lennon has moved Dunfermline from relegation danger to a credible top-four and cup side. That is significant progress. However, another play-off challenge is more realistic than automatic promotion unless he settles the defence, finds greater midfield invention and raises the league consistency. The first nine league fixtures—not the first three—will give the meaningful verdict on this season I think. Still alot to play for. A couple of wins are we are back at the top end of the league.

About the poor balls into the box, there was a moment in the second half where Shaw lost his man. 1 Livi defender roughly in line with the front post, one at the back and Shaw in the middle. The cross to him must`ve been, at a guess, 20 feet too high and hit at ridiculous pace. It was awful. Just no composure. Shaw was poor, but the service was rank as well

DOOOOOOMMMMMMEEEEED 😃 😊 😀 😄 😁 🤣 😂

I agree. We signed Conner Young because he was banging in goals for Edinburgh City and we have done the same for Shaw. We need someone like Kane who has playing at SPL level and who has a bit of physicality. Was gutted we couldn’t get Olly Thomas back. Think he would have made a massive difference 👍👍

Olly Shaw made 65 first-team appearances and scored 12 goals for Hibs, with most of those appearances coming from the bench. In the league, he scored 10 times in 46 appearances. During 2018/19 he produced five league goals at approximately one every 179 minutes, a better rate than Florian Kamberi at that point.

He is obviously older and more experienced, but wasn`t renown for his physicality at Hibs. Conversely he has good movement around the box, and as others have said he gets into good positions but doesn`t receive the ball. At this stage of his career and in this league I would anticipate 10-12 goals from him. If you look at the stats, 9 goals in 41 appearances for Ross County, 16 goals for Killie, 0 goals for Barnsley in 8 appearances, 19 appearances for Motherwell 0 goals, 27 goals in 46 appearances for Hamilton in League 1 in 25/26. I personally saw him as a solid signing with experience in this league and at a higher level. I don`t see him as a prolific goal scorer in the championship and in reality we will need goals from other players and areas of the park.

I think its also useful to remember the backlog of games due to rescheduled matches with players on international duty, or postponed due to bad weather exacerbated by the cup run. This compressed the number of games that had to be played before the end of the season.

We criticise forwards, but largely not their fault. They can only score by having brilliant touches or good service.. Sadly the latter is poor, no balls down middle to allow them to lay off, never space to have a shot, and the shooting is a panic, either a mishit, no power or straight at keeper (or even worse off target), when we are this predictable, we are easy to play against.

I think if you look back over the last 5 years Zak Rudden is scoring 1 goal every 4 games. Similar to Olly Shaw, we can expect 8-10 goals from him this season if he remains injury free.

Just get a few maniquins round the box with 2 forwards….pass the ball out wide and hopefully a winger can put a decent ball into the box for our forwards to attack…keep doing this untill the winger can put a decent cross in….then put the real defenders in and take corners/free kicks working on their defence??
