Why is it that catering for ordinary fans at small clubs is usually so much better than at most SPFL clubs?
I was at Tayport yesterday for the Scottish Cup tie against Carluke (2-0 for Tayport). The refreshment snack offered filled rolls with several different fillings, four different types of hot pies and the best bridie* I can ever remember eating, as well as a wide range of soft canned drinks, and the usual tea, coffee etc.
* Supplied by Rough & Fraser, Dundee.
And occasionally I go to St Andrews United, where you can get pie, beans and chips!

Iv always said the kiosks at East End should be served by the local scran vans based in Elgin,Pitreavie and Inverkeithing offering the best rolls week in/out.
Get the local scran vans involved..even one outside EEP.

I agree with you.
I can only think it’s just a generic menu supplied with the company’s associated with football clubs in the SPFL.
Stephen’s had no such excuse though and one of their most popular brands, lentil soup was never ever sold at East End Park.
Could never understand that.
Smaller clubs tend to have local bakers or even do it in-house so can experiment much more .

Got to say, out with Baynes rolls, Dundee bakeries blow their Fife counterparts out the water for quality and selection.

I suggested a while back that we bring in food vans but the feeling was the trade would be too limited in terms of time.

If you brought in the local scran van trades to serve at EEP on a Saturday it would be a lot better.

I think it`s improved at EEP since the change I think. I tend to have a steak Bridie, and it`s better than Stephen`s, the pies I`ve had were ok. Haven`t tried a Donner pie yet.
Whoever does the steak pies at The Haws are the best I`ve had, also was at Kelty on Saturday, not too bad
Last time I was at Peterhead, was about the best selection I`ve had.
I think for us, we`ve just got a brief period before the game, and at half time to sell, at wee clubs you can buy while watching the game, I`m happy with what we have- could do with decent coffee though!

The Stewarts of Buchaven offering is decent at the rovers. The meal deal a pie, sweet option and a drink is brilliant value.
This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

I’m in a massive cream puff over the diabolical standard of coffee served up at East End in recent years. Have now given up purchasing it. A loss of an easy stream of income from a huge markup item through scrimping on coffee granules that probably cost pennies per cup when bought in catering pack sizes.

I`d add to this that I`m sick of standing opening and pouring 5 of those crappy little plastic UHT milks. For the love of god just stick a 4 pinter on the table.

£5:20 for a bottle of Peroni in Legends. Just as a comparison you got 2 for £4:95. Can’t beat Spoons prices. The one up the town might now get a visit pre match.

Paid £5.50 for a NON-ALCOHOLIC Peroni in Edinburgh. Crappy wee bottle too.

It`s weird.
On P&B after Raith drew their opening game against Stenny their fans were in meltdoon. Everything was brought up including bird sh1t on seats and catering. It was the end of the world.
2 weeks and 2 wins later are they`re definitely top 4.
I honestly thought we were better than that. Apparently not

No, not until you`re at the front of the queue and just about to be served - I usually panic and end up with a doner pie, lol. I think the font sizes and colours aren`t great.

Is there any mileage in the club working with the caterer to provide a menu on the website and even pre-ordering food, or providing a match and meal deal woth a separate pick up area for fans rather than waitong in a long queue that may put people off, especially right before kickoff.

Not a fan of the catering at all, and I’ve simply stopped buying it. What Stephens served up wasn’t great, but I don’t think this lot are any better, and they’re charging considerably more for it.
The pies and bridies are just bog standard, straight out a packet stuff, and at nearly £5 a pop they’re expensive for something that’s gone in about two bites.
The juice is warm, the coffee is awful, and both are expensive as well. I genuinely don’t know how they get away with it.
If people are happy to buy it, then fair enough, each to their own. But it’s definitely not for me. I’d much rather eat somewhere else before the game.
