Does Lennon know he needs permission from some of our fans to do other things in his free time?

Bertie Paton has him chained to the training ground fencing.

Aside from Lennon, is it just me or is the Outwith Festival really poor this year? Usually there was a great selection of bands and some fairly big acts were attracted to play, Idlewild, Arab Strap, The Twilight Sad etc. This year I barely recognise any of the names (although maybe it`s just cos I`m old)

Would have been good if they had some comedians playing. Some of the best in the world are just across the water right now and would definitely pull a crowd

I agree, the line up doesn`t look great, usually they`ve got some interesting acts , they`ve got Steve Mason- but in conversation, not playing!

Far better when they used local venues and pubs etc around the town. Hopefully they can consider that again in the future.

Agree the lineup is poor this year, this is the only thing that attracted my interest, but knowing he’s going to sit and chat about Celtic all night, I’ll no bother going.
Hope it’s a good night for those who attend.

I don`t think this was the organisers decision. Last year a few venues said no to taking part. I don`t know the details but it`s disappointing, particularly when most venues are empty during the day anyway. Still some great artists to see but it`d be great to see a big lineup next year and maybe make use of Bruce Square?

Live music is struggling in Dunfermline. I don`t think Outwith has been getting the turnout to cover its costs, so they`ve probably had to scale it back.
Bruce Festival tried to do a musical festival a few months ago too and I don`t think it quite took off the way they hoped.
At the end of the day, if folk aren`t willing to come out for these things they`ll just disappear. Pretty sure Outwith is just run by volunteers, so why should they bother really if the audience isn`t there.
Going to go to the Lennon interview, and I see they`ve got the boy from Kes doing a talk after the film, so might check that out too.

It`s a shame Dunfermline`s music scene and venues used to be fantastic. Feel for those involved in keeping things going. It feels like people everywhere aren`t that interested in live music anymore unless it`s an "experience". The current generation genuinely have to be the most miserable going. Gym, vapes and leased motors.

Somewhere Else still gives a great platform with open mic on a Friday and always live local music on a Sunday. Not sure about PJs much these days but felt it was slipping away a while back.

The place on James Street (unsure of its new name) was good before but I think it was down to the guy booking the acts who then quit when things went south at the pub.

Hadn`t heard it was venues that weren`t interested last year. I think they decided to try something different in the glen. I think it was considered a success.
My guess is that they couldn`t use the glen this year because of the road closures (same as the food festival) but couldn`t really go back to the town venues after last year, apart from PJs.
PJs has an open mic on a Thursday and still has regular band nights. McQs above coadys is also a proper venue and puts bands on. The Monarch was putting bands on until it closed. It`s reopening under a new name so will be interesting to see if they restart the band nights.

Never thought about the road closures. They seemed to announce things later than usual so were maybe scrambling for venues.

Monarch now called Harleys.
I didn’t ask about bands but owner did say it would be used as a private function suite.

Agreed great night , and for those worried about it being a Celt fest , total opposite , very much about the man ,more than the medals , plenty for Pars fans as well.
