Livingston have been a joke club for so long now. I used to think Martindale was alright but I reckon he’s a bit of a ghoul now. Can’t believe how we let them beat us a couple weeks back.

Marindale sent down for drugs and money laundering and he left as manager of Livi working in the backround.. obviously he has one over on the club as they still keep him on…and now back as manager..

I suppose given the fact that they were relegated last season and have the benefit of a parachute payment, and they were beaten at home by Stenhousemuir who are managed by Bartley who they didn`t give the job to puts them in a precarious position. Livingston had previously stated they had taken their time to get the right fit. Sacking him after 5 league games suggests instability at the club. Interesting to see if a new manager will make much difference. The owner stated previously he did not come to the ckub to hire and fire managers, but that language has changed to "not accept mediocrity. As it stands, they don`t seem to have recruited well.

The club probably has the most structure and stability in it`s existence.

Like all clubs who try to expand, things take time and there are hiccups but they`ve never had a structure as positive as the one currently.

It wasnt so much the results that got Whelan fired but the performance levels which we`re very poor.

Connor, any truth that Martindale was meddling in team affairs and undermining the manager ?

When your 100 home fans are sarcastically cheering when your team pass it along the back your number isn`t to far away from being called.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

TBF Raymie I don’t think Connor would answer that question on here even if he wanted to…

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Interesting to hear Calvin Ford, the chairman/owner, say this time they will cast the net wider and the focus will be on data analysis. I assumed that would always be the case.

I always feel for Livi supporters. Their crowds are really poor for the size of the town, but then it`s a town that was made up of overspill from Edinburgh and Glasgow. They`ve never really managed to capture that new generation as presumably the kids follow their dad`s team.

I wonder sometimes if clubs invested money in attracting local supporters rather than in some players it would offer a better return on investment. If you can attract a couple of hundred extra supporters thats potentially £4,000 each home game. That would fund a players wages. Its the old 80/20 rule - 80% of your problems have 20% solutions. An active campaign and incentives to attract supporters, particularly young supporters may help to boost the home gate and income. Too often I think supporters are ignored in the solution and very much treated as "people who turn up to watch us". An actively engaged support can be part of the solution. I wonder if for example, there was any supporter engagement in the recent Scottish FA meeting in St Andrews? It needs a hollistic approach with multi perspectives.

Its always going to be difficult to break that trend of following your dad`s team or whoever you go to the game with.

They have a great thing this year where all p6/p7 kids in West Lothian schools can get a free season ticket. Anyone accompanying them get in for a fiver.

If you get 10% landed more permanently it`s a success I`d say

Honestly Raymie, I`m not entirely sure. I think there is always rumours of that with a sporting director/head coach relationship.

What i will say is Glenn took every session under his own stewardship, left to his own devices in terms of systems, preferred styles etc.

There will be more than that too, but not close enough day to day to provide a solid answer.

It takes a long time, unfortunately. Particularly if their dad supports a team based on their religion (even though they don`t ever attend church/chapel!)

I echo the posts above regarding the crowds. I always thought there was a hint of jealousy when Livi were in the top flight, with people making crazy statements about how they shouldn’t have been there because of their small crowds.

Anyone who supports their local team instead of simply sticking an Old Firm shirt on and never seeing “their team” play should be commended.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

I just wonder if there are any other initiatives that clubs could introduce for example;

Bring a mate - ST holders get say 3 cut price ticket options in the season.

Monthly/3 mothly subscription

Maximise revenue rather than people ie lower season ticket costs to make it more affordable.

Dynamic pricing releasing some cheaper ticket deals to registered companies, organisations or individuals subjrct to a maximum.

Beat the attendance record campaign for key matches

Pay what you can for specific games

Earn a free ticket - volunteering, community service etc.

Laspsed supporter deals

Flexi season ticket. A half season ticket from say January coukd be a Christmas gift.

Use data properly - model demographics, attendance frequency, trends, lapsed supporters etc. And associated marketing.

Future supporters - childrens supporter packs (scarfs, hats etc.), birthday messages, school visits.

Next home game free competition

Release my seat - where season ticket holders can`t make the game, they can release their seat allowing the club the club to resell the seat and credit the ST holder a nominal sum

For the Pars - something like the Pars 10,000 Project - to get 10,000 supporters in the gate or some other higher than average figure. Build an aquisition campaign around it using some of the above - post match tracking and marketing deals for new attendees.

These things involve work and IT systems but teams such as Dusseldorf, Copengagen, and Bradford use some of these approaches.
