Haven`t heard much about Lewis recently, but he seems to be doing well and is highly regarded at Fleetwood Town. He`s Player of the Month for August!

As has been stated many times he doesn`t play up front any more. He`s a wing back.

He’s a wing back so why should people expect lots of goals?
For the Pars he always seemed more effective out left but let’s face it, we had very very little up front at the time.
He’s found his position now and good luck to Lewis.
Always have nothing less than 💯 no matter what.

Not sure what your point is, Gaz3822. All I"m saying is if you`re voting for POTM for August the votes of Fleetwood fans are relevant but ours aren`t unless folk have been sneaking down to watch him. If he`s getting a game every week he must be doing something right.

I see Lewis signed an extension in the summer to his original two year deal, keeping him at Fleetwood until summer 2028. That suggests to me the club value his contribution enough to get him tied up.
I always liked McCann, big strong powerful lad, always gave 100% effort any time I seen him, while playing in a struggling team.
For some unknown reason, the wee keyboard banging maggots on this site seemed to have it in for him, as they have had for many of the young guys who have come up through the youth ranks. I can only assume a lot of it comes from petty jealousy seeing someone do what they themselves dreamed of doing, while knowing they have done, and will do, nothing meaningful in their entire lives

He is a really nice lad. I worked with him many times on our Pars Tackle Health school visits. He`s an absolute unit and opponents should have been bouncing off him far more often than they did. I`m delighted to hear he`s doing well at Fleetwood.
It didn`t work out for him at the Pars, but I really don`t see the need for fans to keep sniping at him now. 🙄

Seemed a decent lad, nice to see someone local and who learned his football at our club go on to make it in the game. Cant be many posters on the forum who were heading for 200 professional appearanced in their mid 20s having missed 2 fairly sizeable spells with hamstring injury requiring surgery and a broken leg.

Lewis didn’t do well here for sometime. He needed to move on, if he does well elsewhere - fair play to him but do you think comparing his performances while he was here compared to the current squad he’d get in the team?

This question is hypothetical but I do think he would be a regular in this team because he has better players around him. He had the ability and was really our only hope in what were difficult times at the Pars. He was the main and sometimes only outlet for movement forward when Kane had injury troubles. Did he score enough, the answer would be no, but 45 chances in the last 3 games with goal return shows it isn’t that easy and we should be happy he was here.
So I did a check on Google AI for the following
In his final season, when McCann was in the team DAFC win rate was 33%. When he was not in the team this dropped to 25%. Substantial.
Now to the loss rate: the loss rate ratio of playing v not playing was 44% v 62.5%. Again substantial.
When he scored DAFC won 5 of those and drew 1, losing 1 against Falkirk. Again substantial.
Personally I liked him. I thought he had more to offer in a better team, but agree he was better away from DAFC as he would do better away from us.

I looked at his stats on motmob and it is his defensive contributions that are quite high.
So they`ve turned him into a wing back/left back and seemingly a bit more disciplined defensively.

Parsmad yeah it is all hypothetical but IMO he wasn’t progressing as we had have hoped. I thought he needed to leave to kick on again. From what I can tell he’s also had a position change so perhaps leaving was exactly what he needed-fresh perspective and all that. Probably also adds to him just being out of place at the top end.

Very scathing Jock Par and no need for the "idiots" comment. Lewis did play a few really good games which, at one point, led us to consider he might develop into a top player. The two games I remember most were a victory at Hampden against Queens Park, when he scored with a great free kick and an excellent win at Firhill when he and Chris Kane both scored.

He came as a midfielder, IIRC. It was only when he stepped back into central defence that he became so much more effective.

Just watched the highlights too. Great win for Fleetwood.
McCann did hit the post but tbh he knew nothing about it as it was a clearance that bounced off him.
He never set up the goal. The cross came from the left ( Danny Andrew’s) number 3. McCann 14 was playing on the right.
Tell you what he did do. Made a fantastic last ditch block to prevent a late equalizer……

To be fair I did miss out that he knew little about the shot off the post, it was late when I was watching and I could have sworn the commentator said McCann had crossed for the goal but I’m willing to admit I could have been mistaken. He did exceptionally well with the last gasp clearance and although only a highlights package he seemed to be doing well in his new position.

In case anyone doesn`t know, Fleetwood play in the same style red and white shirts as Arsenal and their stadium is called Highbury. This simply reflects the name of the street the ground is situated in, so the `Arsenal` connection seems to be purely coincidental.
