New UK Government Office in Scotland

Erosion of the Barnett formula

Bypassing the Scottish government and funding direct to local authorities

Be careful what you vote for, the EU protection has been swept away. There's been to many troughers and careerists sitting in our parliament, end it and the work for independence starts in May. Same voting will get the same outcome.

CONSTITUENCY VOTE SNP
LIST VOTE ALBA

Surely they're right to challenge this if it has an indirect impact on power over Scotland as a member of the UK?

If this were the other way around I would expect the Scottish Government to be doing the same.

As for going direct to Scottish Local Authorities and adjusting the Barnett formula - can links be provided?

I wouldn't be wanting the Scottish government back in the courts looking at their recent performances. You'd like to think they'd have a legal team to advising them when they drift into area's of contention.
Still to find one of the links for you.

Not quite true to say UK Gov are going directly to councils. What that article suggests is going direct for funds that previously would have been applied to the EU for. Obviously we won't be doing that and the replacement fund is held by Westminster.

Where I do agree with that example is on council funding. The current model is farcical and incredibly biased towards Glasgow. I've no idea where the Weegies are throwing all their money!

"The replacement fund is held by Westminster "
So why not give it to the SG to distribute?

The new UK office building in Edinburgh:-

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will be the largest department, with the offices of the Secretary of State for Scotland, the Advocate General for Scotland, the Information Commissioner and the Health and Safety Executive opening there.
These 3000 Edinburgh posts are already scattered across the city, this building brings them under one roof. no impact on Holyrood whatsoever.

Barnett erosion? Whit?

They weren't just scattered across Edinburgh. They were also across other parts of Scotland and moving them into central Edinburgh is a nonsense. Just makes the economy in places like West Lothian poorer.

I posted a good while back about the huge hidden agenda related to Brexit and one of its main objectives is to strip Scotland of its devolved power

SNP seem slightly upset, if they had been reading this thread they would have been ahead of the game.

Maybe they should start rolling up their sleeves and show a bit of fight now that the enemy has started marching, Oh wait we've still to deal with C-19

Basically, Scotland needs to make a decision now - do you want:

An independent Scotland which will apply to rejoin the EU

or

The gradual erosion of Holyrood and decisions made in Westminster.

Sounds a bit like "would you rather lick a lollypop or a nettle?" but, worryingly, there are a lot of people who want the second one. Many because they think it's like voting for their favourite football team.

But for supporters of rangers and hearts, they could still pretend to be British though even if officially they’re not. Folk in Northern Ireland have been doing that for years!

Don't think joining the EU is a simple and quick process . Better with the EFTA option as that will carry the 62% and most of the 32% who wanted out of the EU.
