It's being proposed that that taxpayer nails out energy companies. Given how much we pay in this country, why on earth would we be bailing out privately owned and run firms?
Why do UK governments keep pandering to big business like this?

I spent a month trying to switch energy companies recently without success due my supplier`s incompetence. The delay was costing me more and more money so I eventually switched to a new fixed price deal with them. They only coughed up a measly £50 in compensation. The consumer always ends up footing the bill.

I spent many months being hounded by Scottish Gas for a bill that wasn't mine. Despite providing my final readings before leaving, they continued to come after me for future payments.
They also forgot to zero my account when they changed the meter so assumed it had gone round the clock again. They sent me an enormous bill and then I had to guide them through how to bill me correctly by removing previous payments. Absolute joke and I'd never use them again.
Bulb is an interesting one as it's a business that's run at a loss to encourage more people to come on board and grow their footing. Obviously this is a risky game and it sounds like they're about to get their fingers burnt. Not my problem though. Would they reduce my bills if it paid off? Would they hell. It's disgraceful that our energy companies are run for profit in the first place.

My daughter moved into a Duloch new build 2 years ago, despite constant emails and phone calls she has still to receive a utility bill!
A meter reader was round last year and told her she was one of many not being billed.

My problem related to my address. I was told it could take up to 18 months for a `new-build` address to register on the national database. I pointed out that my property was built in 1900, I`d lived here for 46 years and had switched many times without a problem.

If you are with one of these small companies that have given you a cheap tariff and they go bust then you`ll automatically be assigned to a supplier of last resort and you will be put onto a much higher tariff. If these small companies get bailed out then those same customers will have their contracts honoured.

I'm going to stick with them but I've got a credit of a couple of hundred quid with them that I'm going to ask be returned.
Admittedly that might not help them and the money is meant to be ring fenced but I've seen stories of people waiting months for refunds of credit balances when a utility company goes bust.

It actually seems slightly cheaper. I did the 100% green one for both gas and leccy. There's another one where I think it's only green for leccy and is slightly cheaper.
This whole things seems a nonsense. I know it's not all down to Brexit, but we already have the highest bills in Europe and now there are reports of potential supply issues. The depressing thing is that these numpties will still get elected.

Fact is that so much of this was based on racism. Johnny Foreigner taking all the jobs except what we now see is they took jobs that British people won't do. We don't want Poles and Romanians here picking fruit, gutting fish, delivering our takeaways, working in our restaurants etc but no Brits will pick up these jobs. But then apparently they don't pay enough. Okay, raise the pay but the prices in the shops go up but then these idiots will buy the cheaper chicken from Thailand.

Cheers I thought they were saying the tariffs were about 40% higher than a year ago. Good to know ta.
