Apparently the new Foreign Secretary spent part of her childhood in Paisley. Her parents were left-wing and she remembers going on anti-Thatcher demos. In an interview Nick Robinson asked her if she`d ever shouted `Maggie! Maggie! Maggie! Out! Out! Out!` She said she had but, because it was in Scotland, it was `Oot! Oot! Oot!`
Reviewers on Radio Scotland this morning said they don`t remember ever hearing this Scottish version of the chant. I must say I don`t remember it either,

Yes, typical Tory revisionism. Along the lines of `My father was a communist miner but I saw the light,` kind of thing. Utterly pathetic.
I did chant on marches in the early 1980 and never heard `Maggie Oot.` Calling a Tory leader by their affectionate name is always a trap, as Johnson reminds us. Look at the Daily Express with its daily identification of `Boris` and `Sturgeon.` These things matter.
The best chant I heard was `Nationalise Tesco`s.` That was around 1982.

Talking of names from the past, David Davis, who was nominally in charge of Brexit negotiations between 2016 and 2018 and used to turn up for meetings with no papers, has been saying the Civil Service were `crap` at negotiating and Whitehall lawyers were `generally useless`.
