Sung to the tune of …

The party’s over
it’s time to call it a day
You’re just a bunch of balloons
at the moon howling away

It’s time to wind up
This masquerade
Because your times up
There’s the devil to pay…

I see another Tory MP agrees and has defected to Labour.

Suspect that may be a winner as the Tories head towards a humiliating defeat in England.

I think you’ll find this ditty is devoted to the Tartan Tories.

You know, the ones who hand free prescriptions and a council tax freeze to JK Rowling, her Morningside Neebs , and the poor folk who live in Edinburgh New Town…

That`s why they`re asked to pay higher tax if they can afford it.

I believe the opening post is known in the trade as an `own goal`.

JK Rowling`s house is in Cramond, not Morningside. You`re thinking of Ian Rankin.

Surely if they`re Tartan Tories then you`re a big fan? 🤣

Free prescriptions are cheaper than having to charge some people. There cosy of administrating that would be massive.

I think Ian Rankin llives in Marchmont. He used to live in Merchiston.

It`s right he lives in Quarter mile now. Sold up a few years ago. There were a few authors on the same street.

JKR will have a few houses around the country but pretty sure her primary home is at Cramond as that`s where she annoyed everyone with tree houses. It`s a big house with large grounds on the main road down from what used to be the hotel on Queensferry Road (now a care home).

To be fair, I don`t know him that well, so your info may be more up to date. Not Morningside, however.

Alexander McCall Smith is also Merchiston AFAIK. Iain Banks lived in Bruntsfield for a bit, as did Muriel Spark, although not together.

Actuallly Rebus lived in Marchmont in Arden St - maybe I got mixed up?

Ian Rankin also lived in Arden Street, Marchmont, when he was a student and I think he wrote his first Rebus book there.

You`re right. For some reason I thought both were in Morningside but it was Merchiston.

Does she own the “White House” then? The gate property on left hand side with the large white turret at the front of it?

Maybe someone will start a tour of famous folks’ houses, have a good gawk and take photos over gates and hedges …
