Well in four years time we`ll find out accurate that is.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Well, if the SNP gets around 40 MPs in 4 years` time, then it`s no more than the electorate deserve.

From the Guardian -
`Reform UK would be the largest party in the House of Commons, but without a majority, according to a major poll published by YouGov today.
It is the first MRP poll produced by YouGov since the election. MRP (multi-level regression and post-stratification) is a form of ultra-detailed polling that produces projections for every constituency. In the past MRP polls have often, but not always, proved more reliable than conventional polls, and YouGov claims its MRP poll was most accurate in terms of seats in the 2024 general election.`
The results were based on a sample of 11,500 voters which is quite large. `Conventional` polls are usually based on around 1,000 voters I think.

Christ on a bike. Surely the local elections is evidence enough of how useless Reform are? Sure I read one of their council leaders quit in England now an 18 year old is in charge 😂
Is Have I Got News For You still on? They would have a field day.

This seasons just finished a couple of weeks back I believe.
Ive been a registered voter for nearly 20 years and have never once been approached for a poll. I could probably count on one hand the number of posters on here that have been contacted for one.
Are the polls different people every time? Or have the same people been polled on numerous occasions? How do they track it to keep it fair and impartial?

Jake if performance while in office was any indication of future success at the ballot box then no party would ever retain a majority. The Tories won three elections on the spin and the SNP at Holyrood are likely to make it five in a row next year.

The Council leader who resigned as leader in Warwickshire six weeks after local elections (but not as a councillor) cited health reasons.

He was however able to holiday in the Dominican Republic - so unless he has sadly suffered a significant medical issue since then ? That`s a 9 hour + flight time from UK.
Or am I being too cynical ?
If I were a constituent I would also be asking if he were fit enough to continue as a councillor.
Maybe Reform need to do some internal reforming first ?

What other party has had so many resignations and suspensions in such a short period of time?

I see Reform failed to defend the 2 seats that they had previously held in this week’s batch of local council by-elections.
It’s not that unusual for people to stand for election in the belief that they won’t be elected, only to find themselves voted in on a tidal wave of support. It is much rarer in Parliamentary elections but I suspect McMurdock is such an example
I imagine that Reform’s vetting process is less thorough than that of other parties, partly because of their structure (not being a membership organisation) but also, to be cynical, because of what they might unearth. And one of the by-elections was held because the candidate who won was not eligible to stand in the first place, which seems particularly incompetent.
Reform may also be particularly prone to recruiting many people new to politics whose lack of expertise is exposed on election. Perhaps they suddenly realise that being a councillor is less about stopping the boats and more about getting the pot-holes filled and bins emptied.

It would be interesting to see the electoral stats for those council seats.
If England is anything like up here, it`s a challenge to reach a 50% turnout due to voter apathy and indifference.
In Clacks it ranged from 39.06% to 48.00% in 2022.
