I wonder if Reform voters are struggling with the fact that Nadhim Zahawi, the former Chancellor who made a tax error which resulted in him having to pay HMRC £5m.

Maybe it`s just the growing appeal of Reform, but the amount of people who I see making daft comments on Facebook who turn out to be Reform supporters is silly. It feels like the stupidest people in society have been won over. I`m talking people who are older who will quickly find themselves paying a fortune for their health and social care under Reform.
The worst are the ones complaining about immigration who don`t understand that it was thanks to Farage`s push to leave the EU that we have MORE immigration.

Apparently Zahawi made enquiries about the possibility of a Tory peerage before he committed himself to Reform. If Reform win the next election Farage is going to have to appoint a great number of Reform peers to make sure he gets his legislation through the Lords.

Show me where I suggested it would? My point is based on a simple fact that it was suggested that Brexit would result in fewer immigrants in the UK. The opposite has happened.
We now have Fartage telling us the same again but under the banner of electing Reform. How will Reform reduce illegal immigrants coming to this country?

Changing terminology there?
Can we be clear what you’re trying to argue about?
Reducing immigration?
Or reducing illegal immigration?
The U.K. has needed ‘immigration’ for years, and will continue to need it. Every party has agreed and accepted this, and has facilitated same - whether it be builders/joiners from Poland, nurses from Philippines, UK needs skilled people.
‘Cutting immigration’ has never been a policy for any party.
Each party however - not just reform - has promised to cut ‘illegal immigration’.
So far, all have failed, due to inaction, due to injunctions, whatever the excuse/reason, they have failed.
Reform are not my cup of tea - but they are appealing to the same people who have been persuaded that illegal immigrants are the cause of all problems.
“Vote for us and we will get rid of the boogeyman”
Cleverly, they are getting the likes of Zia Yusuf to say borderline racist slogans and propose repatriation policies that no white man could dream of uttering without being branded the new Enoch Powell and chased out of office by the woke mob.

Illegal immigration isn`t really that important in the grand scheme of things in terms of volumes.
The stuff that changed post Brexit (and there is no denying that that is firmly at the door or Johnson and Farage) is that the numbers coming into the country went through the roof.
Particularly students and family members.
So now we have all the additional strain on public services without the benefit of a much bigger percentage of immigrants filling jobs that UK born people can`t fill. Instead we are paying a **** load of UK born folk benefits to exist when they could be doing something much more economically valuable.

Reform voters don`t understand the difference. We have far more legal migrants than illegal ones. The difference is the number of legal ones from the EU (typically white) has reduced and the number from outside the EU (typically black and brown) has increased. They`re not racists but they don`t like that.
We were told that Brexit would mean British jobs for British people. So there are now queues of Brits wanting to be carers? Nope. We now have to hire people from further afield to fill carer positions. We`re going to need more and more carers as time goes on due to having an aging population and low birth rate.
So, imagine Reform get in. What`s their plan to reduce the need for legal migration? Cut benefits? Force people into jobs?
What about the illegal migration? They want rid of the migrant hotels so how do they plan to process illegal immigrants?
This is always the issue with parties like Reform - they state they`re the ones to solve problems but never show their working. It`s always "trust me, bro."

Zia Yusuf’s latest proclamations have been all about immediate returns (to where, under which laws, as yet undetermined) with multiple flights per day.
He goes further - Illegal immigrants are by definition ‘illegal’ and will not be allowed to ever gain citizenship or be permitted to stay.
He talks about leaving the ECHR, changing laws etc etc.
How much will actually come to pass IF they manage to get their noses in the trough is another question…

Agreed. But if someone is mugging you off by saying "look over there" when there are much larger and more important issues to resolve then I would suggest you need to reprioritise in a world of finite resources.

Exactly. It used to be benefits cheats, then it was these bloody Eastern Europeans and now it`s illegal immigrants. They always have to demonise a group as a distraction. Obviously we need to ensure fair treatment in the UK and shouldn`t tolerate fraud or illegal activities, but perhaps look at who we`ve elected to run the country and ask why they are always so slow to respond.

My Nigerian friend is a carer in Fife. Why would her being African mean she doesn`t care? She works bloody hard, as do all carers.

Clearly different experiences then. My experience is of hard working individuals who are overworked due to lack of available carers and money. All for £12.60 an hour? Stacking shelves pays more for less hassle (still a labour intensive job).
There was an opportunity after Brexit when many Europeans left for Brits to pick up these roles. They didn`t. Why?
ETA: Following the budget today, carers should be in line for a wee pay rise. May help attract more to the roles.
