Yesterday a far right bunch of yobs and thugs, seemingly part of a group called Patriot Platform, dressed all in black blocked all roads and thoroughfares leading to the port of Dover.
They believe in the justness and righteousness of their cause so much that they needed to cover their faces in balaclavas as they intimidated and menaced locals and motorists going about their business. Police made no arrests.
Compare that to the scores of arrests made (and quite rightly so in my opinion) when the likes of Just Stop Oil and Extinction Rebellion were causing disruption and blocking roads. Difference being those folks had the guts to allow their identities to stand alongside their beliefs. The cretins in Dover yesterday had no such conviction.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Just out to cause trouble no matter what the consequences for others.

Only there was no thuggery at all, videos of locals dropping off water, juice, snacks.
Kittens compared to what Antifa get up to.
Sure it`s all performative garbage but calling them thugs? Literally nothing happened.

I think in the past you have written about the impact of mental as well as physical health.
In that vein, thuggery can be emotional as well as physical.
So here`s a quote from local residents from the BBC that they are extremely intimidated.

A bunch of men dressed in black who we can`t identify suddenly turn up in an area and cause disruption.
Yeah this stuff is meta.
I`m guessing just stop oil protestors don`t need to wear masks because most of them don`t have a job to lose, they are mostly retired gender studies professors and trust fund kids and they tend to cause criminal damage.
I imagine the gentlemen at Dover are mostly working class, hence the masks and why it took place on a Saturday.
Nice to see a truly peaceful protest rather than a "mostly" or "largely" peaceful one come off.
Having made their point I hope they choose a less disruptive form of protest the next time they decide to congregate.

Why would they fear losing their job if they are protesting peacefully?
Peaceful protest in the UK is legal. Or are you saying that blocking roads and causing traffic disruption is an illegal act?
No problem with them protesting an issue they wish to protest. But whats the need for the balaclavas and intimidating look? Its clear it was meant to make sure locals/people using the port were too scared to challenge them. The issue is the look of them, rather than their actions, which seemed fairly peaceful.

Because some people will brand them "thugs" and "yobs" just because of the way they look, you`d be surprised how many people prejudice btw.

Them dressed like that, in uniform makes them all blend in....them dressed in the "Antifa summer range" means they are unlikely to get any bother from anyone.
If these people are who I think they are they have pulled off quite the coup, kept it so quiet that there was no time for whoever normally informs the counter protesters to show up to do so.

Im pretty sure wearing balaclavas and all black, whilst marching in a large group doesnt stop some calling them yobs and thugs though, so why the face coverings? Again, Its not illegal to protest peacfully…..

The video embedded into the article shows these odious individuals trying to intimidate some poor motorist.
Like you say BP, Patriotic Platform will now have an even bigger target on them and with their founder Daniel Thomas, up in court next month their card has been well marked. I`d imagine al the convoy of vans that these peaceful protesters decanted from will be able to have been tracked back on CCTV so at least the owners will now be known to the authorities.

All this talk of protests and balaclavas.
The only protests or marches that officially banned the use of balaclavas to join them were arranged by Tommy Robinson or whatever you want to call him. Seems like there are some in here who would agree with him that they shouldn’t be used at protests

I think it actually is illegal now following the Crime and Policing Act 2026 being put into force.
Certain conditions need to be met to put a 24 hour ban in place in that area. And I`m not sure if it was in Dover.

The difference between right and left is that the left don`t hate any race, and want equality/equity for all. The right only want their own race in this country. Unless they are enjoying a takeaway, or driving a foreign car, or cheering on a foreign footballer etc.
The more we argue amongst ourselves, the more the elite thrive without being challenged.

I mean you are just outright making things up, the climate change protesters who blocked roads weren`t violent and they also weren`t masked. They still got arrested though. You`re right Dandy, Far Right is the wrong term for those Fascist idiots besmirching their grandparents` anti-fascist actions in the 1930s and 1940s and their parents` anti-fascist actions to run the NF off our streets in the 1970s and 1980s. Punching fascists is a great British tradition.
Bletchley is correct for once - they were wearing masks to stop what happened to their movement repeatedly, and correctly, in the past from happening again.

Climate change road blockers were arrested because they were mostly mild mannered pensioners and tofu eating students. They were prepared to be arrested without resisting. A half dozen police officers were able to haul them into the back of a van without much fuss. While I certainly didn`t agree with their method of protest, fair play to them for willing to take the consequences on the chin. I doubt the balaclava wearing crowd on Saturday would have allowed themselves to be detained so easily. Hopefully next time the police grow a pair and enforce the law.

Without looking at Dr Britts checklist I’ll guarantee there’s at least a few points in there that’s just describing authoritarianism in general.
Nazis and communists have an obsession with control. They come at it from slightly different angles but the end goal is the same.
Authoritarian right will say it’s for law and order/public safety and the left will say it’s resource management but both will decide where you can go and who you can speak to.
My point being-even communists will tick boxes on that checklist

You specifically took to this forum to post that you can`t define what fascism is, yet when it`s pointed out that there is not only a dictionary definition, but also an widely recognised checklist, you would rather ignore it (whilst still arguing against the definition) instead of taking a minute to educate yourself? These demonstrations would never be happening if our own government stopped the illegals entering the country.
600 arrive at Portsmouth and are taken onboard a RNLI ship and brought into Portsmouth. Tents, food and clothing await their arrival and busses to ship them to the nearest hotel where they will be housed getting £50 a week pocket money and everything free.....how any British citizen finds this acceptable is mental.
What about looking after our own that have problems?
Where are these illegals from, have they any criminal convictions and have they been part of their countries military?
If our government think they can sit back charging the British working people the taxes they put on us and expect us to not say anything then get more demos throughout the country going....its about time the British people stood up and were counted. Imagine the money we are paying out for these illegals to be here and what it could be spent on in our country?

This issue was caused by the right who voted for Brexit. Yet somehow they get off scot free because their main leader, Mr Farage, isn’t in charge.
Farage caused the Brexit vote - blame Cameron.
Braverman and Jenrick in charge during the height of small boats crisis - blame the Tories 🤔
Labour reduce number of illegal migrants and deport tens of thousands in 2 years in charge - not doing enough and all their fault.

Good. Want a balaclava and to burn down some buildings that someone on Facebook says are for illegals?
Gonna be honest, this is a big change for me, so it`s little steps to start with. I`ll probably quietly mutter a few racial slurs tonight, maybe shake my fist at the mosque, but I`ll build up to the big stuff soon

How have we so quickly forgotten the lessons our grandparents taught us?

The problem is you can’t define what a fascist is.
Dr Britt helpfully provided a 14 point checklist. There`s some on here that tick more boxes than they would like
Without looking at Dr Britts checklist I’ll guarantee there’s at least a few points in there that’s just describing authoritarianism in general.
Nazis and communists have an obsession with control. They come at it from slightly different angles but the end goal is the same.
Authoritarian right will say it’s for law and order/public safety and the left will say it’s resource management but both decide where you can go and who you can speak to.
Very strange behaviour
I don’t need educating on the subject. I’ll stand by everything I said.
If I’m wrong point to it…
The checklist btw, is just generic stuff and I was right, there is a bit about an unhealthy relationship or obsession with law and order in it. Again, just generalisations of authoritarianism. Which btw is one of the criticisms of the checklist.
The dictionary definition of fascism is much more helpful than that checklist.

The problem is you can’t define what a fascist is.
Not comprehensive but people who call those who disagree with them anti-fascist would be a start.
Also doesn’t make sense.
Unless you want to play children’s games, then it might work. But at that point Hitler and Stalin were both Nazis since they shared the same beliefs on some things.

So Dave 1885 stated we have deported thousand of illegals…where? They have no documentation so please tell? To their home countries where they have fled from?
Does no lefty’s want a peaceful life where they live in Britain?
So we deport thousands but why are we still letting them in? Doesn’t make sense.
All of us living and paying taxes in Britain need to stand up to the corrupt government now and say enough is enough…
I have no problem at all with migrants coming into Britain and getting jobs but these illegals are costing millions and have no intention of getting a job but a free life!
All mostly young men so what is going on? About time the people of Britain stood up and said that’s it…

There are two fundamental issues with illegal migration that I can see with respect to deportation.
1. By the 1980s-2000s, the enforcement problem increasingly involved overstaying, false documents, clandestine entry and unsuccessful asylum applicants remaining in Britain. Asylum applications rose dramatically during the conflicts and instability of the 1990s and early 2000s, reaching about 84,100 main applications in 2002, before falling to around 18,000 in 2010.
2. The Channel-small-boat phenomenon is much newer. Significant recorded crossings began in 2018, with 299 arrivals. They subsequently rose to roughly 46,000 in 2022. In the year ending June 2026 there were 33,374 small-boat arrivals, accounting for 88% of the 38,086 detected arrivals through illegal routes. Of the 85,891 people claiming asylum in the year ending June 2026, 40% had arrived by small boat, but 41% had previously held a visa or other lawful leave. In other words, the asylum system and the small-boats problem are not the same thing.
A person arriving illegally is not automatically a failed asylum seeker. Under current UK law, knowingly arriving without the required entry clearance can constitute an immigration offence. But an irregular entrant can nevertheless make an asylum claim, and being guilty of illegal entry does not by itself disqualify somebody from refugee protection. The Refugee Convention itself recognises circumstances in which refugees may have entered a country unlawfully.
Once a person`s asylum application has finally failed and they have no other right to remain, the expectation is that they leave. But an enforced removal requires several things to line up: a final legally executable decision; confirmed identity and nationality; a destination legally permitted to receive them; a passport or emergency travel document; the destination country`s cooperation; the ability to locate or detain the person; flights and escorts; and no outstanding protection, human-rights or other legally valid claim.
This is why the EHCR is not the only barrier. Some countries can take months or years to issue passports or travel documents. There is also a bottlekneck in processing asylum claims.
There is therefore a substantial gap between the popular explanation—"the courts/ECHR stop deportations"—and the engineering reality of the system.

How many millions of taxpayers money is spent on the illegals when it could be spent on the British people and helping them and we just sit back and allow this?….its our money we work for spent on people illegally coming into the country.
If you have no passport/documents then bugger of back to where you came from!
We don’t have a clue if any illegals have convictions for anything in their previous country..does this not worry anyone??
Depending on their culture/religion these men can sleep with 12/13 year old girls as Allah stated in the Quran…disgusting and not tolerated here.

Ask UKIP (now Reform) and everybody else who was pushing for Brexit.
They had all the answers before the vote, and thought it would be simple. That`s what generated most of this mess. Firing folk back to France used to be much easier. I suspect it was a lot easier for the French to deal with folk before they left as well, so it incentived them to be more proactive.
No doubt Farage will be looking for the easy way out now rather than more scrutiny on this point. Don`t worry, though, he`ll reappear just before the next General Election. Another part of his Hero`s Journey.

I`m astonished at how little people seem to understand about how damaging Brexit has been for the UK.
Small boats pre-Brexit were under 10k. In 2025 there were over 40k! This has reduced slightly to around 38k but it`s still significantly higher than pre-Brexit levels.
So much for all the "control ar bohdahs" brigade.

Patriotic Platform leader Daniel Thompson, or Danny Thommo as racist things refer to him as, has a fund raiser that has currently raised over £60 thousand to buy his Mum a new house after he revealed her address by using it as his business address on companies house. The grift never ends with these characters does it?
Just for the avoidance of doubt Thompson was convicted of attempted kidnapping at knife point back in 2016 along with a couple of his associates when they assaulted a man who they had accused of stealing 10k worth of drugs from them. Good old fashioned British values eh!

Lol.
Have you read any of the comparisons that economic bodies have done? Are you more qualified, have access to better data and do you have a more accurate worldview than them?
The other stuff clearly has had an impact too, but that doesn`t therefore trend the impact of Brexit to zero or anywhere close to it.

Why is Scotland affected more? I can’t imagine that the Scots are eating more avocados.
Is your position that Brexit is so bad that it has led to an increase in the amount of people risking their lives to leave an EU country to get to non-EU Blighty? I’m struggling to follow the logic.

The UK left the EU`s Dublin III system, under which EU states could in certain circumstances transfer asylum applicants to another participating state responsible for their claim. The UK`s departure therefore removed one mechanism available for transferring some asylum seekers back to EU states. That did not mean Britain previously had an automatic right to "send everyone back to France" — a common misconception — but losing Dublin made returns cooperation more difficult unless replaced by bilateral arrangements.

Couple of points:
1. The U.K. was a net RECIPIENT of transfers under the Dublin agreements.
The receiving country had to agree to take the transfers - no automatic sending back - and in the vast majority of cases, other EU countries refused to accept our transfer requests.
2. The scale was in the low hundreds per year, and was mainly used for bringing family members together.
Dublin Agreements (1,2&3) were never going to allow repatriation of ‘illegals’ and whilst it is true that we no longer have that facility, in practice, the effect was less than negligible to the numbers.

My understanding is that entering the country illegally is not a bar to asylum. There would be a process to follow, and if at the end of that process the asylum claim fails, the country of return needs to agree they can be returned. If they do not have a passport, one would need to be issued. This could take months or even years for some countries. This is why it is not so straightforward and a more complex problem to solve.

I think a poorly aimed joke to try win an argument online is as useful as a poke in the eye.
It really doesn’t stop the reality that’s being pointed out from happening.

I’ve said my piece to Dandy in the past but I don’t feel the need to insinuate something about someone because I don’t share the same political views as them.

You`d think this vile and horrific crime would be making, not just national news, but international news. Then again it`s only allegedly so maybe, despite there (allegedly) being footage of this sickening act, the likes of the Daily Mail and GB News are waiting till the police finish their investigation. I mean all the people who are in this footage should be identifiable and they are surely now in the system having their asylum claims processed and should be fairly easy to locate.
I`ll give it till Monday. If it`s not hit the headlines by then I`d say it`s a pretty safe bet to say you`ve been duped.

I usually put the post into AI ask it to validate and provide links. On this statement it concludes below but as is standard in this culture war, horrendous events are manipulated and exaggerated to push an agenda. This is why credibility is in question as they don’t need to exaggerate or conflate 2 stories (one being hearsay) as the facts are bad enough;
the core claim is based on real events, but the forum wording combines two separate allegations and makes the connection between them sound more certain than the evidence currently supports.
I searched current Spanish and UK reporting because this is a very recent story.
What definitely happened
On 16 September 2026, a migrant boat travelling towards Lanzarote was rescued after getting into serious difficulty offshore. Three men, aged 21, 25 and 30, were subsequently arrested after a woman told Spanish authorities that she had been sexually assaulted during the crossing. Spanish police said another passenger subsequently came forward and said he had witnessed the assault.
The three men were initially placed in pre-trial detention. However, there has already been an important development that some UK reports haven’t reflected: on 25 September, a Lanzarote court released all three because prosecutors questioned whether Spanish courts had jurisdiction, since the alleged assault occurred in international waters. The investigation itself has not been closed.
So “woman gang raped on migrant dinghy” is not fabricated. More precisely, it is an allegation of a multiple sexual assault, supported by the woman’s complaint and a passenger who said he witnessed it; it has not been established by a criminal conviction.
And the baby?
This is where the forum post needs much more qualification.
On 24 September, Enrique Espinosa, head of Lanzarote’s Emergency and Security Consortium, gave an interview to local radio. He said that emergency workers had been told about an incident in which a two-year-old boy was allegedly thrown into the sea from a migrant boat while travelling with his mother because he was crying.
That account was subsequently reported by Spanish outlets and then by UK media.
However, I cannot find independent confirmation that this actually happened. In particular, the available reporting attributes the story to Espinosa’s account of what emergency personnel had been told; it isn’t presented as an independently established fact by Spanish police or a court.
The important distinction
The claim:
“Woman gang raped on migrant dinghy before baby allegedly thrown over the side.”
is therefore misleading in its presentation

Are there any unoccupied island on the planet that people who don`t like to follow the law of the land could go? That island could be the "do as you please" island for all the people who think rules don`t apply. It would be their paradise, surely?

Wouldn’t say the picture is clear…..but it wouldn’t be a surprise if it is Iranian migrants.
Its also not surprising that Iranians are attempting to sabotage/attack American “bases” on foreign soil either. They have been doing that in the Middle East in retaliation for American attacks.
Could also be a false flag these days.
Problem with the internet these days is folk will speculate and not just let the police/courts do their jobs.

Sadly these plots are becoming more commonplace. There were well documented plots reported in the press that led to prosecutions at Shrivenham in 2025, Victoria Barracks in 2024, RAF Menwith Hill in 2023, RAF Lakenheath and Mildenhall in 2015, Parachute Regiment TA centre at White City in 2014.
The DG of MI5 said in his speech in 2025;
"Since the start of 2020, MI5 and the police have disrupted 19 late-stage attack plots. And we’ve intervened in many hundreds of developing threats". On state threats he went on to say "My teams are routinely uncovering attempts by state actors to commission surveillance, sabotage, arson or physical violence, right here in the UK. We are dealing with these threats every day. We wish we weren’t. But we’re rising to the challenge."

Why should they be more transparent? 🤔 being more transparent could jeopardise any case they are now building, if theres even a case to answer. Theres clearly something not correct with their initial assessment if they have been released on bail.
The “hurty words” gang openly and blatantly posted or said their things on socials or on camera. Easier to deny bail to someone thats obviously committed a crime.

I do struggle with these cases when folk are arrested on such potentially significant charges but then let free so quickly. Strange place to be with those vans at that time of day.
I mean, if folk are up for causing a terrorist attack (in general, not these specific guys), there are clearly ways where they can cause real problems without huge planning and weaponry. Something that bail would allow them to do so.
It does seem a little bit different to bailed for ABH after a scrap on a night out.
Of course, it might be a handy way to help them implicate themselves while being watched.
What`s on their bail terms? Do not go near a military base, and don`t carry around some dodgy looking stuff that needs Johnny 5 to investigate it?

You’ve repeated wokey leftist talking points then said you’re not a wokey leftist 🤷🏻♂️
And the bail/non bail bit isn’t the talking point. You should look up the free speech union.
And the transparency bit would stop anyone having the talking point of they got arrested for shouting at a police officer and denied bail while they got arrested for terrorism charges and were given bail within 24 hours.
If it’s something as simple as trying to steal diesel, saying that publicly won’t exactly harm an ongoing investigation

"What specifically makes this vision far right—what beliefs, policies or exclusions are you referring to?”
It infers guilt by association, its group signalling, and moral framing. I`ll ask the bloke today when I walk the dog. He has a black lab. I`ll ask him if he`s far right.

My question to her would be
"What specifically makes this vision far right—what beliefs, policies or exclusions are you referring to?”
It infers guilt by association, its group signalling, and moral framing. I`ll ask the bloke today when I walk the dog. He has a black lab. I`ll ask him if he`s far right.
The self loathing and virtue signalling from the "caring left" is hilarious, devouring themselves in hypocrisy.
Its a bit like saying the phrase “No decent person could support this.” It places psychological pressure on the listener. It puts their character at stake alongside the merits of any proposal preceeding this statement. Questioning the argument risks looking as though you are uncaring. Politicians use this emotive language alot. The sheer hypocricy of Burnham thanking Starmer and Reeves after plotting their downfall is incredible. They say if you want a friend in politics get a dog.....a black labrador perhaps

One of men arrested for the RAF Fairford incident is an Iranian-British dual citizen, released on bail. I think this was the “ring leader” that was arrested a few days after on suspicion of planning the attack/incident.
Not sure why he has been released if the planner of an attempted terror attack 🤔

In June 2026 the EU introduced new rules on migration and asylum. The Migration and Assylum Pact came into force on the 1st of October. The purpose of the legislation is to introduce stronger border controls, faster asylum decisions at the border, tighter controls on movement between EIU countriles and mandatory responsibility sharing.
Safe countries of origin have been identified subject to individual examination to speed up the process.
Under specific conditions an EU member country can decline to examine a claim because effective protection is available elsewhere "safe third country".
The October reforms add stronger obligations to cooperate with removal and possible sanctions on countries for non cooperation. Return hubs outside the EU are also possible.
Over time, and depending on the effectiveness (delivery, case worker training, capacity, reliable identification etc) this could impact the UK in terms of numbers arriving in France. This of course does not give the UK the right to return Channel arrivals to France however the UK is seeking to cooperate with EU countries.

Just to be clear - it is not possible to do mass deportations. If Restore or Reform suggest it is, they are incorrect. You could potentially jail people who have travelled here illegally for no valid reason, but where do they go after that, and how much has that cost?
What was already tried under the Tories was nonsense like Rwanda and putting people on old ships. I don`t recall a significant drop in crossings.

So far it’s cost us £500k in legal aid and will continue to cost us an estimated £85k annually for accommodation, food allowance, monitoring and other related support costs.

From what I say of their coverage, they were very clear that a lot of the problems were caused by both far left and far right, with the far left being by far the most responsible.
Seems a bit bonkers to behave that way as it seems to make it more likely to stoke far right support....which sounds like it might get worse after the elections.

There are likely just as many wronguns on the left as on the right.
No issue with people protesting but what`s the point in smashing up homes and businesses?

Look at the overwhelming demographic, this isn`t about school standards, unless they`re allowing 30-plus year old men into high school.
Not to worry, when it comes here i`m sure they`ll take into account your kind words like they did in Paris, ah, wait a second, sorry, they don`t care.
I don`t wanna go down like disco.

Probably words like this woman was offering while the rioters were looting her store like "I`m on your side","This isn`t helping Gaza".
She is now asking for donations.

That`s the left for you, all for them and they don`t care, animals.
Videos circulating of them killing ducks in England.
But hey, cultural enrichment eh.

Don`t you see the irony is saying terms like "left" and "right" or whatever terms you referred to were meaningless because they were overused, and then calling everyone "animals"?

The "left" commentators now claiming those fighting age men, tanned, beards are not immigrants looting Louis Vuitton for Palestine, it`s Antifa.
So wait, Antifa are the violent bad guys now? The "left" will eat themselves before taking any accountability.
Ipswichpar, signal your withering virtue for these characters for all your worth, Paris has shown you`ll be treated as no better than dirt.

I`m not signalling any virtue.... yet another of your pointless phrases when you`ve been called out.
What they did was bang out of order and it is significant issue in wider society that needs to be addresses. I hope they get the book thrown at them.
I was going to post earlier about that Q idiot now running for Rector at St Andrews Uni. Why we`re letting an Indian here on a student visa become an MSP (who has held no surguries) and run for a significant role at our best University is a clear sign we have lost the plot while Rome is burning.
I`ll leave others to make a view on once more your inability to respond to a direct calling out of your inconsistency in posting. Don`t know why I even bothered raising it as you never accept any challenge.

The rector position was voted on last week Ipswich and some local guy who is defence analyst won but yeah I agree that this man shouldn`t be allowed to be an MSP. As far the rectorship, there were other non nationals standing for election including some American comedy actor. There have of course been other non British nationals who have served as rector, as far back as the 1920s.

So the answer is "no words" then? 🙄
Again, the use of left/right is unhelpful. I believe we should seek to help people in need (pretty left sounding) but on the terms that people follow rules and are suitably vetted (sounding a bit right wing).
I`m not too in the know about the French riots but it seems to be primarily French nationals rather than immigrants, isn`t it? I can understand the frustrations and suspect we`ll soon see similar soon, but I can guarantee the majority of rioters are doing so out of greed rather than rage. What statement are you making by stealing a load of clothes from Zara?

Reading the French newspapers on the topic there have been over 2500 arrests. Approx 60 have already been prosecuted.
The snapshot of those arrested mentioned students, homeless and first time offenders. The UK news recently reported that a man had been arrested for the townhall fire. He is considered to be "ultra left".

I agree left and right is unhelpful but I also agree, it’s left parties who are coming across as completely mental.
I don’t know how anyone could take Polanski seriously.
Lib Dem’s have went full blown crazy recently.
Labour still happy to entertain Islamic extremism. They’ll bring in blasphemy laws for votes then get kicked out

Please tell me Jake you are not trying to claim to be some nuanced centrist. I get the impression you are a Lib Dem type, but as NMC intimated the Lib Dems have been overtaken by leftists for some time now.
If we were talking about helping genuine refugees who have been properly vetted we`d all be on the same page.
That is not what we`ve been doing, we`ve been letting in economic migrants with little or no vetting for some time now and even when they commit the most heinous crimes we seem incapable of deporting them.

Some of them have been vetted as actual criminsls, rapists, groomers and terrirists but leftist extremists have been advising them on how to say they are gay, trans or claim to be children and facing persecution so they can stay.
Lunatic behaviour.

The caring left urging riots in the UK, can`t wait to see how the media still blame it on the "far right".
No doubt the looting by heavily tanned individuals will be framed as righteous cost if living protesters.
