Watching the news last night I commented it must've been a slow news day. This morning I find out there was a double shooting in London (shotgun to the face!) and a teenager stabbed to death in Sussex. Last night they simply covered:
London attack 1 year on
England winning a friendly
Soap awards
Have the media given up?

I kind of see this from both sides.
Experience tells me that highlighting crimes seems to actually increase it.
It's like when you see a street riot and it's never off the news.
You can be damn sure that there will be another soon after elsewhere because of the publicity.
After all that's what they seek.

Think then it's a case of shutting the door after the horse has bolted.

It's like the school shootings in America.
The moment I heard these kids say "this won't happen again" was the moment I knew it would happen again very shortly afterwards
People are so consumed by the media that it becomes like they must make a name for themselves.
Isolated incidents seem to be a thing of the past

Are you blaming the media for these attacks? There are a lot of folks who watch T.V and read newspapers who don't consider any of these actions.
Society is plunging into an ever increasing cycle of dehumanization. It has always been there but seems to be accelerating just recently.

Yep and some of the smaller towns are actually worse.

I didn't mean focus specifically on London. It's just when you see it being reported that a wee ned chased a fella with a machete you kind of expect a double shooting and a murder also being newsworthy.

I'm assuming you mean Suffolk rather than Sussex ot....at least I hope there wasn't another.
There's been a big increase in gang problems in Ipswich.
That area used to be on my walk home from town. It wasn't good at the best of times but there's no way it would be sensible to walk through there now. There's kids as young as 12 getting caught up in stuff now.
As well as the police cuts I'm sure gangs are filling the void that lack of opportunities are giving these young folk.

We live in dangerous times where our media is now a government propaganda tool and ITV is almost equalling BBC.
Lol !
Why do you think the BBC was set up in the first place?
