 Speed restrictions m90

Anyone heard anything about this between kirkliston and halbeath. Read online that it's getting introduced End of last month. Noticed tonight driving down motorway after joining from a92 there was the motorway speed limit displayed on the overhead gantry but can't remember there being any lesser speed restrictions further back?

Is this still the case? As I got flashed last night South Bound just after the A92 joins, the overhead gantry wasn’t on, I thought they were only going to be used when the gantry showed a speed (even the national limit).

I got flashed at 90 on the M90 last camera before bridge 4 weeks ago no gantry speed limits up but never go a ticket.

I know only 2 on each side of the bridge are live and that was from a guy who installed them, the others are all dummy cameras, he seemed to think the one Southbound before Pitreavie is live. The other is the last one before the Newbridge slip southbound!

If it works the same way it used to up in Aberdeen, only 1 camera on each side was live. However they moved them about every month.

More importantly, when will people start to drive above 40mph on the bridge? It’s a motorway is it not?

The amount of people that doddle over the bridge raises my blood pressure.

Police need to start patrolling the bridge and catching these people. Absolutely no reason to do 40-50 on it, even in windy conditions! And start catching lane hoggers as well

Lane hoggers is another thing that really raises my blood pressure. In fact, the commute to and from Edinburgh raises it pretty consistently.

In my whole driving experience Barnton to Halbeath and vice versa is one of the worst sections of motorway/dual carriageway in the country.

People forced to use a very busy road to commute and travel that if they had a choice would not use and have very little of experience of.

The look of fear of folk sitting at 40mph is common, the inability to overtake, the inability to use mirrors and the 3 miles they require to obtain the correct lane prior to turning right at Barnton on to Maybury Road.

Inability to merge or allow merging another manoeuvre far beyond people's capabilities!

Let's hope motorway driving lessons eradicates a lot of these poor standards as that is a major fault to all of the above previously!

3.30 in the morning Ipswich no other cars on the road!

Also may I add above and generally you never hear of people moaning about cars going faster or overtaking you being frustrating.

If you spend any degree of time on the likes of the M6 for instance the average speed is in the mid 80s for normal vehicles.

45000 miles a year clean licence and 15 years no claims 😉

Been driving the M6 on a regular basis this last 3 months and not seen a single accident. Motorways are less dangerous than back roads and agree with RM avg speed on M6 is 80-90mph.........speed limits need reviewed, technology has advanced massively now and cars can cruise at 80 with no issues.

Point taken about the time RM.

I do find it frustrating when someone comes flying up in the outside lane and gets way too close, but I accept my issue is with tailgaters not speeders per se, and if yours was on an empty road it's a bit different.

Driving on the Autobahn is a joy. Wish there was something similar here. You have to have your wits about you to be fair though.

Been trundling up the A9 to Inverness this past week in ma van, and have to say, can't think of a more soul destroying road to be on at 50mph.

Big T. I have the drive yo Inverness to do Monday........I agree entirely with your sentiment.

50 mph stuck behind lorries doing the same speed and a trail of cars behind to scared to overtake in case they break the ASC limit. Which I reckon is set at about 70 mph anyway.

Risks get taken, ironic when you see the overhead gantries on roads saying Frustration caused accidents! A9 is just that, a road that frustrates!!!!
