the sad thing that more investigation and criminal convictions will come out of the "joke" bonfire scenario than will come out of the actual event.

^^^^WOW!
I’ll have to look into this one. Any pointers, Rasta?
The company charged with collecting the donations was a private entity and they received millions.....a tiny fraction of which has been given to help the victims...the trick is who said company is linked with.
Appalling but not entirely unexpected.
Edit....glad the scum will be charged.

"replica" bit cardboard burned, few dis-tasteful laughs. 5 arrests and charges brought within 24 hours.
24 storey, 120 dwelling tower burns, large parts of which streamed live on TV as people screamed for help out windows etc and hundreds/thousands killed or still unaccounted for, 18 months later still nothing.

If you watch the video , it's absolutely moronic and vile, I can't quite believe it. Plenty of scope to bring charges under the Public Order Act in my opinion. They looked like they knew exactly what they were doing.

While I find there behaviour absolutely abhorrent and disgusting, I honestly fail to see why this is a crime! Their behaviour is not what most of us would find funny but is having a strange warped sense of humour a criminal act nowadays?? This seems to be another case of the country jumping on the snowflake bandwagon and wasting more of the taxpayers money dealing with this “criminality”. What’s next?? Will it be a crime to dress a little differently??
What happened to free speech where you could say things and crack jokes without worrying about getting locked up for it?? As I said before I think their behaviour is outrageous and disgusting but it shouldn’t be a crime!!

the only "crime" is being stupid enough to film what you /your mates see as banter and post it in the internet where there is an unlimited number of snowflakes awaiting to be offended.

Delete “warped sense of humour” and insert “grossly offensive mocking of people who died in horrible circumstances” ?
Or perhaps it’s also OK to make fun of Auschwitz etc. ?

I'd bet those arrested are white and that this video falls into the category of a racially motivated hate crime.
In which case it is only right and proper that the police are involved IMO.

So what do you thing motivated the six arrested to make this vile sickening video ?
Just having a laugh for bonfire night ?

I'm not sure how that video could be misinterpreted - I'm not up to speed on such derogatory comments, but "All the little ninjas getting it” (as reported in the press) sounds suspiciously racist.
Based on a quick trawl through online Urban Dictionaries that appears to be slang alternative for the 'N' word.
Maybe not of course.
You are correct about jumping to conclusions - and we all know what they say about making assumptions.
I doubt these guys are KKK material, but the case for their defence will be interesting.
At the very least they have been very silly, now that their names and addresses are in the public domain the have a lot to be concerned about.

"You had to trawl through 183 posts on a website that is full of fictional statements to find that. Total ninja."
Eh ?
I trawled through nothing.
I Googled key words and it came up with that page in a few seconds - I have absolutely no idea what entries 1-181 were, as 182 was the first entry it took me to.
As for it being fictional - how do you work that one out ?
That apart, taking your definition as more appropriate.......how could "All the little Burkhas getting it” be interpreted as anything other than a racial slur ?

Trial? Jury?
you've already got them convicted in your own Kangaroo court for this being a race related attack, why would it need a trial?
While we are at it if they can burn an effigy like that maybe need to start questioning where they actually were around 14th June last year eh ;)

Not eligible - but if I were I'd concoct some excuse to bodyswerve.

Attack ?
I see the alleged perpetrators have been released pending enquiries.

There can be no justification for the crass and intemperate behaviour of this low-life scum. In the days before social media none of this would have been publicised. Unless incitement to cause racial discrimination can be proven then no criminal action will be taken.
In condemning actions such as this we can be hypocritical in how we react to other inflammatory and insensitive behaviour and comments.
John McDonnell, Labour Shadow Chancellor; “I want to go back in time to the 1980s to "assassinate Thatcher".
John Osborne, former Chancellor; “I will not rest until Theresa May is "chopped up in bags in my freezer".
Jimmy Carr, so called comedian; “Say what you like about these servicemen amputees from Iraq and Afghanistan, but we’re going to have a f---ing good Paralympic team in 2012.”
I could go on........

True enough Parbucks, they may have been attempting political satire but fallen short. It didn't seem particularly funny to me. It's only words though, and I think anyone should be allowed to say whatever they want without any repercussions. Rather than the outrage over this I would prefer people to be outraged over why the tragedy happened in the first place

parbucks, it was Billy Connolly's quip about Ken Bigley that came to mind when remembering bad taste jokes that were then sensationalised.
