Dunno if it's sinister, or a childish prank, but someone's looking at jail time for this. Idiots.

They should have shotguns as well as rifles which would pose no risk of falling bullets.

Someone's in a lot of trouble... If they catch them.
Wouldn't mind a drone myself.
I have noticed a lot of them while out and about... The bridges are supposedly a no fly zone... But nobody seems to either know or care. Its dronetastic doon there.

Really scuppers my day so far.
Trying to get home spent 5hrs at Gatwick this morning sat on the 0650 to Edinburgh
Then flight cancelled....
Then trooped of the plane and sent to passport control ??
“I have no passport”

Imagine the conversation!!

They then realise there are hundreds like me..
A driving license will do I’m then told.

My driving license has expired!

Imagine the next conversation!

A debacle

I hope to meet the drone flyer however I don’t think it’s drones....
Got a wee hunch when I saw the search regime that all is not quite what it seems

I can get home but some will be stuck and won’t get flights.
Good gesture by LNER offering anybody flying to Edinburgh who has a boarding pass will get a free seat on the train from kings cross.

Imagine if Corbyn was PM and this happened. The tabloids would have his guts for garters.

How on earth can a major airport be so susceptible to this kind of disruption? No doubt the Russian hackers will be blamed before long. Or maybe it's a warning shot to show our errant politicians the brute reality of military strength like occurred at Heathrow in 1974.

I suspect far more to this!
The fact German Airport was under close patrol last night with a suspected imminent attack.
The fact with all the sophisticated equipment available they can't trace the flyer(s) of multiple drones.

Yet can arrest someone within hours for pointing a laser pen at an airplane.

The fact no RAF aircraft were brought into the area to help trace the flyers.

Various rumours saying that the drones were police or army looking for a potential terrorist attack from outside the airport using RPG or Ground to Air weaponry which is very concerning if that is the possible next form of attack!

I certainly don't believe this was some Eco Warrior though!

Flights at Gatwick have been suspended again due to a new "suspected drone sighting".

A spokeswoman for the UK's second biggest airport said: "We are just hearing a report of another drone sighting that we are investigating.

"As we look into it we have taken the precaution of suspending flights."

Aircraft have been circling above the area as they are currently unable to land. The sighting reportedly occurred at about 17:10 GMT.

The Ministry of Defence has not confirmed the sighting but Sussex Police said its officers were investigating.

The police have been made to look a bit stupid.
The army have apparently resolved the problem. (There are suspicions it might have been their drones.)

The public have been prepared for a Brexit government of emergency- with martial law optional- for 2019. Happy New Year.

TOWK,

I hope we can share a laugh in 2019.

There is a government emergency policy to deal with the backlash of Brexit/No Brexit. It is called Operation Tempera. On face value it is concerned with ensuring food and medical supplies are not blocked.

In reality, this is very serious indeed. For the army on the streets is a forerunner to the disintegration of the rule of law, and ultimately parliament. I hope to hear from you soon, before the internet is closed on grounds of Brexit security.

Apologies, that should have read 'Operation Temperem.'

Make of hast what you will. Bjut the aristocratic landowning caste, represented by Rees-Mogg, see a potential in societal breakdown. They can either pick up the scraps, after the army has interned Corbyn. or run for the hills when Corbyn comes after the tax they have not been paying for the last 40 years.

TOWK,

Probably not. The UK is a place that has allowed the aristocracy to control the land for 400 years.

If this is not addressed by the populace, then they can look forward to a Happy New Year of serfdom If you cannot control the land then you cannot claim this country back. You become a serf yelping for his master.

If they rightfully own the land and pay the relevant taxes on it what does it matter who owns it?

Proposals being muted are nothing short of a draconian land grab by the SNP with no thought process.

A bit like someone saying we are going to take a quarter of your garden because we think it is too big, but we have no idea what to do with it once we have taken it off you!

heres hoping the general populace of Scotland finally waken up, and support the snp, transiently to win full independence, only then can we really start to have our say, and determine how we wish to live our lives

however I have mine doubts.

calpar if you believe that you are deluded!

They are a populist vote more so than Labour in Scotland, who have already indicated they will destroy income streams in return of that vote without giving a clue where the income will then come from!

The only hope will be taxes on everyone to fulfil a dream of making those impoverished people who saw Independence as a game changer a reality.

Be careful what we wish for! We do not have the nearly enough income to replace our annual income in the form of the Barnett formula until those figures are equated we are up the stream without a paddle!

"There is a government emergency policy to deal with the backlash of Brexit/No Brexit. It is called Operation Tempera"

It's an operational deployment devised to support police in a major terrorist incident, planned before EU membership referendum.

UK Special Forces in civilian dress have already been undercover assisting with survelliance etc. at potential threat scenarios.

Norway's tax revenues from petroleum activities are estimated to around NOK 119 billion in 2018. The net cash flow from direct ownership in fields through the SFDI system is estimated to NOK 123 billion. The government has additional income from fees and Equinor (formerly Statoil) dividend.

Norway is one of the most heavily taxed countries in the world with a total tax burden of roughly 45% of GDP– almost 4x Hong Kong and nearly twice the US. VAT here is a whopping 25%. Personal income tax rates border 55%. Corporate profits tax ranges from 28% to as high as 78%.

Don't forget that Norway's Government own 67% of their oil fields too, Scottish Government own none of ours and only receive tax on what is pumped and sold through Scotland. If we increase taxes on this then the companies will just slow or stop production and strangle our economy further.

The oil giants are far bigger and better resourced than the SNP.

So you are saying that Westminster goverments have made huge, strategic blunders with their handling of Scotland's North Sea resources?

It is not the cash cow as has been made out and never can be. Yes blunders were made in the roles of exploration without the government ever investing happy to take tax payments.

As was seen after the last referendum the oil price crashed and the oil companies went to their easier and cheaper oil wells to keep profitable and it all but shut down the North Sea Oil fields and subsequently Aberdeen.

Call it a warning shot, a taste of the future possibilities, but when you realise how fragile this resource is then you become very aware that it not a suitable foundation to build a countries economy on, at the same time as giving up on the guaranteed payment via the Barnett formula.

The muted talk of banning shooting and hunting, the inevitable collapse of the farmed salmon industry, our closure of power stations and access to sell electric via the National Grid all but strangled. Traditional farming under more pressure than ever and coal mining gone. Scotland is not in a very strong place financially.

Yes we have tourism but we need a functioning economy for that to work and support it, hotels, bars, shops etc etc can not survive on 5 months income.

The current Uk and Scottish Governments have no huge current infrastructure projects or plans as they have currently down South.

Ones that should be getting chased include, 3 laning the M8, M74 complete the 3 lanes from Hamilton to Draffan, Duel the A9 to Inverness. These are infrastructure needs which can and will only happen with Westminster investment.

Are we going to get this perverse argument again that Scotland having a big deficit as part of the UK is an argument AGAINST independence? When you see the GERS figures for all the 'regions' of the UK it's quite obvious that most of the wealth of the UK is concentrated in London and the South-east of England which makes it look like they are 'subsidising' the rest of the UK. That model must be the result of government policy. An independent Scotland wouldn't be following that model.

(Not sure how a thread on drones has morphed into one on independence!).
