 TalkTalk TV - additional charge
Topic Originator: veteraneastender

TalkTalk customers who use their TV service can call 0345 172 0088 before the end of January to cancel the £4 automatic add on fee for multi room use.

I got through quite quickly as well.

They are a bunch of chancers not giving users the option to opt in/out in advance.

They are treading a fine line......can't see Ofcom being too happy with that approach....

I'm with talk talk but only for broadband so I don't think this affects me. The website says they are doing away with this charge in February anyway if I read it correctly?

Best check your account allparone - did TT supply you with a box for their TV service via broadband ?

They did with me a few years back, it was free, hoping customers would sign up for add ons, their so called Boosts.

Assume nothing with TT !!!

I have phone (never use it) and broadband with talk talk. Never had TV with them. Their broadband is excellent and never had any problems. Very easy to either add or take away boosts online. I now pay less for their service than I did last year.

They did a few years ago but I'm sure I cancelled the TV part when I renewed. I pay £25 a month which covers landline(which has been unplugged for years) and fibre broadband. I rarley have an issue with their service and it's already cheaper than other providers. I doubt I'm paying for the TV part as there hasn't been a change in my bill since I started this contract last April.

Is the basic TV offering not free within the broadband deal ?

As I understand it, such subscribers will have to opt out of the £4 add on.

Nah, just checked my account. Tv isn't part of mine, just broadband and phone. It has the option to "add TV" but it is of no interest to me. As I said above it says on their website that there will be no charge for multi room from next month so it looks like they've changed their opt out strategy.

No basic TV offering is not part of basic broadband package. It's an extra

Is that a premium rate phone number?

Nah. Should be priced same as geographic and in call bundles. It may be pricey outside of bundle though....as most things are these days.

This above information is wrong. The 4 quid charge is not for multi room,it's for talk talk tv. If you opt out you will no longer be able to add boosts or record tv shows that aren't ondemand.

Thank you op for wasting my time.

The confusion has been caused by media reports way back in January.
