I spent the day in hospital yesterday after accidentally spraying the weedkiller Round-Up in my eyes. It was really painful and left me practically blinded for several hours - all I could see was the outline of things through a heavy fog.
Today, I feel a good bit better, but my sight is still 50/60% of what it should be and my eyes are a crimson red colour. The doctors say I should be okay in a few days.
But it does serve as a warning to pay attention to the signs on products that say "avoid contact with eyes". In this particular case, I would have been well advised to avoid spraying a dangerous product in windy conditions...

Classic min... Being serious of course, what you should have sprayed in your eyes was Windolene... For sparkling streak free vision๐

I hadn't seen that cheers Rasta. Recently bought a weed burner so I'll be setting that up and punting the Round Up.

I'm sure there was a fairly recent case where a terminally ill Gardner was awarded 246 million dollars from Monsanto after proving round up caused his illness...

Not much sympathy on here for you Oz.
Hope the eyes are on the mend.
Ditch the Round Up. I'm not sure why it is even still legal to sell the stuff here in Oz.
And the "weed burner" is a much better alternative to gardening, although we had a different name for those when I was younger.

Thanks GG. I didn't expect too much sympathy to be honest as I obviously was pretty damn careless. I was wearing my normal glasses but they didn't provide much protection. You never think these sort of things will happen to you, but of course, they do.
Feeling a bit better today as the stinging has gone and the redness is disappearing. My sight is improving, though not yet back to normal.
And yes, the Round-Up is duly ditched...
:)
