I'm not the world's greatest historian but I'm fairly sure we were on the opposite side to the people that though it was ok to demonise people because of their religion/ colour/political beliefs and sexuality.

I've seen no reason to change that position.

looks like it's going to cost folau his job. Saracens/rfu have tried to dodge the bullet with the one match ban for Vunipola. At least rugby Australia have got some balls.

Don't think the Australian RFU have been left with any choice... Remember, this isn't the first time he's posted such views online. He posted something similar last year.
Apparently he's said that he will give up rugby if that is God's plan.
He's arguably one of the best full backs in the game but it seems his talent on the pitch doesn't equate to brains off the pitch.
Vunipola it seems also had a brain fart when he agreed with Folaus stance on the matter but seems to be trying to squirm out of it now by claiming that he doesn't hate anyone. No idea why the English RFU have only banned him for one game but I'd imagine if they start to get a lot of heat about this they will punish him further. He has in the past stated that his faith is his No 1 priority in life ahead of his family and rugby, and that has helped him through injuries.
I think this whole thing will have far reaching consequences in sport... Not just rugby.
Social media can be very dangerous.

When he said he was standing by "what the Bible says" it would have helped the conversation if he had quoted the text fully, which gives the good news as well.

"and such were some of you but you are washed and sanctified in the name of Christ and by the spirit of God.

He should be allowed to say whatever he wants. As everyone should. Everyone just has to remember that what you say helps form peoples opinion of you though

Aren't these contractual issues? If the players don't think they can comply with the terms of the contracts, they shouldn't sign them.

That's just it eck,we don't know what is in his contract.Rugby Australia obviously believe he violated it.

There are federal laws protecting freedom of religion but who knows how that impacts this case legally

Yep,pretty much standard policy nowadays.Man expresses his religious views(oops make that Christian views) and has to be crushed.

Would it have helped his case if he had better articulated 1st Corinthians 6:9-11,perhaps.

Or, rather than risk offending anyone, could have kept his views to himself. Religion should be a personal thing, there is no real need to ram it down peoples throats

He wasn't offending anyone...if you read the whole passage its a warning to fellow men. What could be more caring than that?

It's in breach of Rugby Australia's code of conduct... As it says in the link. Simples.
If ye break the rules ye have to pay the price.

Was there a clause that said he couldn't quote the Bible(albeit ham-fistedly)

I've no idea but I'd hazard a guess that this falls under the old "bringing the game/sport into disrepute" category.

I'm assuming he would feel vilified if people were to attack his religion/identity so I wonder why he feels the need to not return that same respect and attack another group in society?

Maybe he's struggling with his own sexuality and is trying to reaffirm his dogma?

Anyway I'm pleased at the outcome, if you go out of your way to vilify others in society then you can't be too surprised when society vilifies you back at your expense...

He called out adulterers, thieves, the greedy, swindlers and drunkards as well...i'm pretty sure some of them you find less than palatable.

What he didn't do a good job of was quoting the full remedy.

Some of the most bitter words I have heard came from the mouths of "Christians".

Does anyone think folk choose to be gay? Genuine question to the Bible quoters.
