I doubt if the Rt. Hon. member for West Bromwich East will be welcoming what is being revealed.

Or the top brass at the Met.

Our resident conspiracy theorist is as silent on this issue as he was when Sir Cliff Richard was cleared.

What better way to make it appear as though there is no Establishment cover up of influential paedophiles, than to get someone to make all sort of allegations, give it plenty police time and media coverage, and then discredit the accuser. Ta-dah! Nothing to see here, move along now.
It would have been better if the Police and media concentrated on what happened to the files Theresa May lost, but that's all been conveniently forgotten about, and she has had her reward

Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness - obviously not in "Nick's" vocabulary.

Mark Watts, who almost certainly cajoled and coached him to make these vile and heinous allegations should also be in the dock.

Quick question....have any of you lot even tried to take on corruption at local level?
The threats...police harassment...the bans from local establishments...the constant copy and paste legal threats etc?

Apply that to accusing our government of harbouring paedophiles, you think there wouldn't be a kick back?

I've no doubt he is a flawed character, no paedophile should be hidden or defended....none of them.
Savile didn't get by without friends.

"I've no doubt he is a flawed character...."

A masterly understatement for somebody who has falsely accused individuals of the most heinous crimes such as rape of a minor and child murder etc.

Whom have falsely accused?
They all come out in the end...usually after death to a chorus of " we didn't know".
I'm wholly comfortable with my stance.

"Whom have falsely accused?"

Beech has falsely accused a number of individuals, including some who have passed away.

Beech is innocent until proved guilty of course, however it's looking much like he has paedophilic tendancies himself.

I suspect many people would be wholly uncomfortable with defending his conduct.

If he himself is a paedophile then I am more likely to believe the accusations he made.
The vast majority of paedophiles have been abused themselves as children.

"This country is disgusting"

You are absoultely correct.

A country where innocent people can be accussed of the most heinous of crimes without the slightest shred of proof on the testimony of one person.

Where a police force is obliged by political interference to conduct a second and totally unnecessary investigation when the first (at huge expense to the taxpayer) has concluded there is no case to answer, based on a total lack of credible evidence.

Where the senior police officer leading the initial enquiries goes before a public parliamentary sub committee hearing and states that it was a "baseless witch hunt".

Where a senior politican like that odious Tom Watson can accuse an individual, for nefarious political motivations, using the protection of parliamentary privilege, based on the so called evidence of "Nick" (whom he met) - and then won't retract the allegations once they are discredited.

Where another senior policeman, on being appointed to lead the second enquiry, badly prejudices the investigation by publicly stating that "Nick" is credible, totally contrary to standard police practices - for which he was later reprimanded.

Where an investigative journalist can cajole and coach a so called witness into telling a litany of lies for his own purposes.

Where police disregard the advice of the family of the so called witness who told them he was a fantasist and had a history of making up stories since boyhood.

I'm with you on that opinion Andrew.

A man described as a ‘senior detective’ was reported by media at the time these allegations by ‘Nick’ first surfaced as saying they were ‘credible and true.’ At the time I thought this was an astonishing thing for a police official to say: he was entitled to his opinion regarding ‘credibility’; but only a jury can decide on ‘truth.’ A policeman knows that better than anyone. I would be very interested in discovering whether this particular detective will be called by the defence as a witness. If he is not, then I can understand those who feel that ‘Nick’ was being set up from the outset.

As VEE reminds us however, despite all the speculation over the years, no elite paedophile ‘ring’ has ever been uncovered. ‘Nick’ seems to have named the ‘usual suspects’ familiar to us all- the stories about Ted Heath and boys on his yacht date back to the early 1970s at least, although there is some evidence to suggest Heath was detained by the police for importuning in a public toilet further back in the 1950s when homosexuality was illegal. We can hardly doubt that powerful people have been protected. The criminal behaviour of Cyril Smith is fairly well acknowledged now, as is Jeremy Thorpe’s plot to remove an embarrassing former lover, although the latter case did at least make it to court. What is missing though is any evidence of their being part of a ‘ring.’

It seems more likely to me that people in power will generally close ranks when accusations are made, and that there is a broad cross-party political agreement not to wash dirty linen in public. A ‘Scotsman’ journalist told me back in the 1990s that a Tory cabinet minister had a predilection for young men but that there was a gentleman’s agreement not to put this in the media, since a Labour shadow cabinet member was of a similar persuasion. Both these men later ‘came out’ as gay but no mention was made in the media about the age of their consorts.

Updated

Detective Superintendent Kenny McDonald of the Met. - who has just retired after 30 years service.

I believe he was removed from the second (needless) investigation and internally reprimanded after his astonishing statement.

For the guidance of anybody confused or unclear - I loathe all child abusers, the lowest form of pond life IMO and any that are collared (like Rolf Harris and Stuart Hall etc.) totally deserve a hard time in prison.

However, only very marginally less loathsome are bottom feeding creatures who make malicious false accusations of such conduct.

If anybody has set up "Nick" it's Mark Watts, not the police.
