 Rise of Skywalker

Movie forum for this p*sh etc.....

Surprised no thread started yet on the trailer for the next, and final, Star Wars movie "The Rise of Skywalker"

Leia doing her Mary Poppins impression aside, I didn't mind The Last Jedi as much as many did so must admit I am looking forward to this one.

Doubt it will be a patch on 4, 5 or 6 (what could be) and the Disneyfication of the series will be in overdrive, but will hopefully still be a fitting way to round off one of the best movie stories of all time.

Oh I'm sure there will be countless new ones and TV series too - all potentially destroying the good name of the franchise - but this one is (or at least should) be the last one in this particular story.

They will wring every last dollar from the franchise.
Wouldn't be surprised if another 3 films (at least) are on the cards.
And the inevitable TV stuff as you say.
R2D2... the toaster years...
Along time ago in a galaxy far away...
R2D2 has been forgotten and reduced to functioning as an all in one breakfast making machine, tea, coffee, toast etc...
But he yearns for a return to the days when adventure and danger were commonplace.
Then... He receives a sub space signal from his old buddy, C3P0... there's been a disturbance in the force... IRN-BRU has been ruined by a sugar tax introduced by an all powefull overlord... He must catch a freighter to a distant planet... As soon as he figures out how to unplug his power cord and deactivate the house alarm... 🤣

Ewan Mcgregor has already signed up to an Obi Wan tv series. To be honest let's not pretend that the star wars franchise is top quality drama or movie making. I enjoy the movies and really enjoyed the original trilogy back in the day. However when you look back at them now the script and some of the acting was cheese of the highest order.
I'll still definetly be taking the boy to see the new movie at Christmas so what do Disney care.

Turn on, Tune in, Drop out.

R2D2 couldn't handle today's thicker sliced loaves.

"Ewan Mcgregor has already signed up to an Obi Wan tv series."

Sent shivers down my side when I found out about that. He was - imo -bloody awful as Obi Wan in the prequels. Although, to be fair, he wasn't exactly alone in that regard.

Let's just pray they don't bring back Hayden Christiansen to do anything regarding Anakin Skywalker. Now that would be bad !

I thought Ewan Mcgregor was the best thing about the prequels but that's maybe not saying much.

Personally I thought the best thing about the prequels was when they were finished.
Utter keech min...
But they were never going to compare to the originals so maybe I was expecting too much.
I've enjoyed the latest ones more than the prequels.

Revenge of the Sith was good. Just needed a better actor playing Anakin

I personally thought they should have killed of Princess Leia in the last Jedi.
A few re-filmed scenes was all was needed and edited out the ludicrous part she floated back to the ship.
That way, they could have kept Luke alive by not killing him off right in the final scene and leaving one of the original trio to fight another battle.

If you only turn up to moan then do it elsewhere
