I had my bag stolen from me this morning at 11.15am at the junction of Alexandra Street and Victoria Street. He ran up Alexandra Street then Victoria terrace before leaping over a garden wall and into Gladstone Place. Where he went after that is anyone’s guess.
A man, I’d say in his mid-30s, around 5ft10”, sallow skin, dark baseball cap, dark green / navy loose bomber jacket, dark blue jeans - slim build with broad shoulders.
My bag is a cross body one with braided rope strap, multiple colours and with jewelled cover on the flap. It’s a small canvas one originally from Accesorize. It contained my phone, purse and keys. All necessary reports with phone provider and bank have been carried out. I’ve also given an interview with the police, and had swabs taken as well as handed over my jacket for evidence.
The police dogs were out and I think they might still be in the area.
If anyone has seen this man please contact Dunfermline police station and report it.
Shocked isn’t the word.

I’m aching all over now that the adrenaline has left me. Lost some skin on my hand from the force of him pulling at the bag strap but thankful there was no assault. I’m a wee bit unsteady on my feet too but that’s probably shock.

Sorry to hear this, Buffy. The main thing is that you're safe.
Given the description, I suspect the person may already be known to the police so hopefully your bag will be quickly retrieved.

I'm pleased to hear you've come out of this reasonably unscathed, Buffy, but no doubt you'll be emotionally traumatised by the shock of the theft.
I hope the thief is caught and you get your belongings back. It would be good if the law allowed the victim a free kick at any part of the convicted criminal's anatomy, by way of retribution. 😉

I had a hard enough time trying to stay on my feet never mind lash out at him.
The owner of a business in Alexandra Street saw the man earlier, and went out of her way to look out for him prior to what he did to me, because she thought he looked dodgy. He picked up some loose change from the street outside the local newsagent and then went in the shop. She told the police this and has checked her cctv but nothing was on it as to the crime. But she’s going to look at it for yesterday and later today, to see if he’s been hanging about, and speak to the owner of the newsagent too.

Sad news Buffy, I hope you are feeling a bit better today,
Don't let this lowlife get you down.
He will get caught and suitably punished, but until then you have to get back out and carry on the way you were before the little $h!t assaulted you.

Any word on whether he's been caught, Buffy? Shouldn't be too hard to find a guy with that description in Dunfermline.
