Loved the new year back in the 60's ..bottle in the pocket any hoose wi a light on and they knew yer Mam and Dad or Uncle and Cousins etc ...A firm handshake, pickled ingin, pineapple and cheese oan wee sticks black bun and a plate oh stovies to soak up the bevvy Kind generous folk who didnae have much but shared it with others .... beam me back Scotty ... That's exactly how it was Busspass. I nearly posted something similar myself. I remember it fizzling out in the seventies and I was wondering why there was never any big New Year's Eve disco on at the Kinema when it was still around in them days. I see there were parties advertised for Edinburgh this year. You'd think a proper disco in Dunfermline on NY Eve might go down well?

I remember one year first footin' in the seventies - I was about 17, my gran lived at Allan Crescent - and my pal got on his knees and sang 'Mammy' to her, impersonating Al Jolson. Some good memories.
Maybe first-footin' will come back one day.
