14 Day Isolation Your Top 10

OK so you are going into a 14 day period of self isolation, what do you do to keep yourself amused?

What 10 albums do you take in , assume you have no internet/ wifi connection?

What book do you read - no Complete Works of Shakespear allowed!

I will need to have a think about it.

(Just to clarify I am not in isolation btw - just bored- I have always found Sundays boring)

I feel more reason then ever to write a novel as I always wanted, but still don't have the self-belief. But that could all change!

We hope this is a momentous time in history (not something that's gonna become common) so maybe a diary would be of lasting interest.

I don't wanna do that, I wanna escape into imagination.

I've got my notebook and pen handy, my wife is in the living room watching 'Murder She Wrote' - here goes..

Anyone else trying to write a book/ escape into an imaginary uncharted world in their own head?

Buspasspar - a few great choices there. I really like Steve Forbert, I love Jackson Browne and I have every Al Stewart album ever issued. Time Passages is fabulous - Palace of Versailles and End of the Day are two of my most loved songs. 😀

Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series are excellent as are the many spin off sideline character entries.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

I was at the Al Stewart gig in Glasgow that night Buspasspar - in the Strathclyde Suite of the Royal Concert Hall. Laurence Juber is quite a player and Between the Wars is another great album. My wife and I saw Al perform Past, Present and Future along with Year of the Cat (both albums in entirety) at the Royal Albert Hall. Unforgettable!

Some interesting choices , mine are:

ALBUMS

Seargant Pepper - Beatles ( I really wish I had seen them live)

Bridge over Troubled Water- Simon and Garfunkel ( I saw Paul Simon in Manchester on his farewell tour recently ,still brilliant an everlasting regret I didn't see them perform together)

Live at Leeds - The Who

Tapestry - Carol King. ( snap Buspasspar - I only bought this album a few months ago having been to the musical "Beautiful"on Broadway - highly recommended on return to normality)

Rumours - Fleetwood Mac ( again a band I wished I had seen )

Born in the USA - Bruce Springsteen ( have seen Bruce live half a dozen times - what a performer)

The Joshua Tree- U2 ( I heard their performance at Murrayfield on the Joshua Tree tour - I hadn't really paid any attention to them up until that point - wow.

and now for something completely different as someone once said, I also like opera so the final three selections are ;

La Traviata- Verdi
La Boheme- Puccini
The Marriage of Figaro- Mozart

Perhaps Traviata and Boheme are too sad for today's times hence much more upbeat selection to end on.

My book choice ( and I haven't started reading it yet ) is "Washington - a life" by Ron Chernow , recommended as one of the better biographies on George Washington. I will let you know - it's a heavy 800 page read.

Keep them coming.
