There have been so many clever, memorable ads on British TV down the years, some funny - others poignant, that it's virtually impossible to pick a favourite.
We could all easily come up with at least 10 ads which would be worthy contenders for best ever. Here's mine, an iconic ad from 1973, which all Pars fans of a certain vintage will fondly remember:-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Mq59ykPnAE
this ad provided the inspiration for Tony Capstick's very funny parody, which reached No. 2 in the pop music charts in 1981.

Not politically correct and not really my favourite but I like the gag at the very end. "If you hum it son I'll play it!" ๐

Second the hamlet adds awp
I was also influenced as a boy with the cigarette adds all the young good looking people having so much fun and enjoying a smoke
Today's cigarette is a Bristol still sticks in my mind So I bought ten and felt dizzy and sick so gave them away and never tried it again

Had forgotten all about this advert for blackcurrant tango. Probably, as a piece of filming the best advert ever. It obviously isn't but it looks like it has been filmed all in one shot. Tremendously choreographed. The fact that it spoofs the little englander mentality is the cherry on top.

Here's an Italian one for a soft drink which most of you won't have seen before:-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKdfIvx169M
Here's the dialogue:-
Gorilla - Give me a Crodino
Barman (to wife) - What will I do?
Wife - Give him one.
Gorilla - Braw, how much is that?
Wife to Barman - Charge him 50,000 Lire.
Barman - But that's extortionate.
Wife - He's a gorilla, what does he know?
Barman - That's 50,000 Lire. Thanks.......
We don't get many gorilla's round here.....
I'm not surprised - at these prices!

The Milk Tray advert quote, reminded me of a wee story.
My daughter had bought a black polo neck jumper. She put it on and I was saying that she looked like the milk tray man. Obviously, she didn't have a clue what I was talking about, so I told her and showed her a few video's of some of the ads. A couple of weeks later, she's getting dressed and she shouts down from her room.
Dad, have you seen my jumper that makes me look like the milkman ๐๐๐

Your dad makes Private Frazer, of Dad's Army, look like the life and soul of any party.
Does anyone remember an ad which opens with a cowboy sitting on his verandah? He picks up his rifle and shoots a bird in flight, turns to his hound and says,
"Go get him, Floyd."
It may have been an ad for Levi jeans but not sure.

You're thinking of the advert for Texan bar GG. "A man's gotta chew what a man's gotta chew".
If I remember correctly, Floyd was the Sherrifs deputy and was told to round up some renegades while the Sherrif sat on his erchie on his rocking chair chewing his Texan bar "go get em Floyd" ๐

Oz, I remember seeing an old Aussie ad for a sports bra...
It featured a splendidly endowed lady playing tennis... It was shot in slow motion, with the relevant thunderous sound effects... the punchline?
"Sometimes the only thing you want to bounce is the ball..."
Probably not appropriate for these tender times, but funny nonetheless...
