I genuinely enjoy the Singapore lifestyle and if this rule was applied in the UK then we would see much less disorder. If you don’t misbehave, then there is no issue. Simple.
There have however, been breakouts of violence in little India but the Singaporean government swiftly dealt with this. So it does happen but the response in no nonsense.
I tend not to go to Robertson Quay as I feel there is an entitled attitude from the foreign national (edit: worker, not national) population

Would be good Blacklight. I spend around 3 months a year in Singapore. I stay in Balastier away from the main area as beer and food is cheaper than the city! Once lock down and the circuit breaker in Singapore is over then I will be back as it is long overdue as I am still in Scotland.

Ignoring other countries' laws is a recipe for self inflicted grief.
We were in Bangkok a few years ago and the guide told us about the Australian visitor who went too hard on the local brew.
A small shop owner refused to sell the Aussie a 6 pack, so he went out and graffitied one of the (many) portraits of the then King of Thailand that were displayed.
Big mistake !!!
The Thai people revere their royal house and he was sentenced to several years in the local pokey - despite pleas from the Australian administration the Thai government was unsympathetic.
I believe he was eventually released, a much chastened man.
