 Printer issue
Topic Originator: Big T Par
Date:   Sat 11 Jul 13:03

Anyone able to help. All of a sudden my pc is not recognising my printer. Got it connected via usb and before it was just plug and play. Tried everything that I can think of to remedy it. It's a Ricoh SP 213 W, if that's any use

Anyone any ideas.

Cheers

I had similar issue a few weeks ago - could not print or scan normal way - went into control panel and it was recognised there amongst devices and was able use it.

Does your PC recognise it in control panel ?

Could be a problem with your usb ports.Seen it before and just needs the drivers re-installed.

I suspect your ip address on the router might have changed. When I moved from bt to sky, I had to reinstall from fresh for all the pcs so it recognised it. Rather than just reinstalling driver is it possible to remove device completely and reinstall?

Try another USB port.
Try another USB cable.

If it was wireless before its probably looking at the wrong port.

Can you connect the printer To your WiFi?
You should be able to do this through the printers control panel or the wps key on your router.

Right. I have connected the printer to my router via USB. When I go into the router settings, it is set to share. Now, I'm probably being thick here, but when I go to print a page, there's no sign of the printer. What am I doing wrong here?

You need to connect your printer to the router wirelessly or from the pc to the printer through USB.

Thanks a lot for all your help guys. I've somehow got it to print, but it's coming out with text only. No pics. When I click on it to rpint, it's listed as generic/text only, not the printer name. It's in the control panel list, but it's in the unspecified bit and not the printer bit. Any idea how to move it to the printer bit

Sounds like it has the wrong driver.

Try this ;

http://support.ricoh.com/bb/html/dr_ut_e/re2/model/sp213w/sp213w.htm

Download the driver - install.

Hopefully the correct driver will print text & pics.

When I download the driver, there's nothing showing for Windows 10. Should I download the firmware thing?

Microsoft Windows 10 (64 bit)

PCL 6 driver - Download

Got to your download folder and double click on the downloaded file.

You need to install the driver files to the printer manually.

Go to Printers (type printers into your search bar)

Find your printer in the list.

Manage

Properties

Look for the tab with the printer driver.

Look for the update option.

Choose update and point it to the folder that your new drivers are in.

That should do it.

When I do that mate, my printer isn't there. What comes up on the list is generic and Microsoft. Doing my head in.

Update the generic printer drivers with your Ricoh download.

I'm absolutely lost lol. The Ricoh update had ten files, when I've unzipped them, and when I click on each one nothing happens. Think it's petrol and matches time.

Have you uninstalled the existing drivers? Sometimes that help before a reinstall?

SUCCESS SUCCESS

You'll be delighted to hear that somehow, it's worked. What I think it was, is when I was going to add a printer, Ricoh wasn't coming up as a manufacturer. Just Microsoft and generic. Had a look under Microsoft and the PCL 6 printer was listed. Highlighted it, clicked test print and VOILA Success

Thanks for all your help guys. Mucho appreciated
