A song lodged in the brain

I truly wish a pox on my local radio station for playing a song today that ever since (about eight hours now) has been playing on an endless loop in my head.

The song is as old as the hills - `All aroung my hat` by Steeleye Span - and not one you hear too often, but perhaps that is why it has locked like an exocet missile on my brain.

I`ve tried distractions - shopping, walking, even went swimming. I`ve played other music loudly, but to no effect; as soon as that music stops, the volume quickly rises on a folksy tune with the accompanying words...

All around my hat I will wear the green willow
And all around my hat for a twelve-month and a day
And if anyone should ask me the reason why I`m wearing it
It`s all for my true love who`s far, far away

And again...

All around my hat I will wear the green willow
And all around my hat for a twelve-month and a day
And if anyone should ask me the reason why I`m wearing it
It`s all for my true love who`s far, far away

And again...

All around my hat I will wear the green willow
And all around my hat for a twelve-month and a day
And if anyone should ask me the reason why I`m wearing it
It`s all for my true love who`s far, far away

Any suggestions?

PLEASE HELP!!!

:)

Oz

There is literally nothing you can do about this. Scientific research cannot help either.

Motorhead cures everything....
Try "overkill"... That'll do the trick.

Try playing Birdhouse In Your Soul by They Might Be Giants. Then it'll be stuck in your head all day instead

I thought I`d read somewhere that if you sing it out loud, that will fix your problem.

I remember reading that you need to listen to the song and let it finish completely - giving your brain `closure` if you will...

I had the opposite recently. Ten weeks without internet access when I couldn't remember stuff about Screamager and Therapy? other than the fact there was a song out there that existed.

Couldn't remember the band, the name of the track or how it went. Now that was brutal!
