My wife keeps getting an, " Oops something went wrong, please try again" message when clicking on notifications.
I googled it and got vids saying go to the fb app and select clear cache.
Problem is I cant find that option.
Any ideas?

If you're on Android go through the following menu options:
Settings>>Apps>>Facebook>>Storage and the clear cache option should be on the bottom right mate.

Might need to clear data as well or possibly uninstall and reinstall the app?

Ok i was worried about clearing her data. Says that deletes everything.....not sure exactly what she might lose.

Yeah it deletes the passwords etc and leaves the app like the first time she installed it.
It won't delete anything in Facebook but anything that's been downloaded to the phone to run quicker in the app will be reset. Any notification settings will be reset, history notifications, most activity records of activity in the app etc.
