 Audi drivers
Topic Originator: widtink

Now I know this was done on here a couple of years back.. But I hadn`t really noticed it myself.. But now that I commute to Edinburgh and back every day it has to be said....
Audi drivers are the worst.... They have taken over the mantle from BMW man most definitely.
Or is it just that there are more audis on the road these days?
Now I`m not suggesting that every audi driver drives like a complete tool... But they definitely have a higher percentage of idiots behind the wheel.
Too harsh.... Or fair observation?
Ps.. I drive a vauxhall... I`m a peasant 🤣

It`s because Audi drivers have a bird that goes quack bouncing about the back seat more than three times but no more than five for every mile that they drive. It must be distracting but it comes as standard with all Audi`s. It is the four spring duck technique.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

It is annoying towk.

I drive an Audi and commute to Edinburgh, I also detest tailgating and lane hogging.

Driving in Edinburgh can be an unpleasant experience with fuds at the wheel of their fancy cars driving like they own the road, taxis doing whatever they please because having a private hire badge on their car apparently means they are allowed to break all traffic laws, pedestrians trying to kill themselves and people who don’t drive in the city much not knowing what they are doing.

I will take your Audi driver and raise you...a Mini driver (no, not THAT one).

Young women are now easily the worst. It`s like they`ve taken over from the boy racers.

There`s very little need to drive around Edinburgh: public transport here is fantastic and reasonably affordable, and that`s before we even mention the constant roadworks that make driving anywhere a confusing lottery. Or parking.

We should have better provision for commuters to feed into the city`s public transport network though. All too often those driving around the city are those from outside who aren`t used to driving in a high traffic area like the city centre. Folk who live and work in Edinburgh are far more likely to get a bus to work because it is ten times easier than taking a car.

The enemy travels by private jet, not by dinghy.

Not half as much as those under 30 drivers. As the data proves.

That is exactly it!

Everyone else on the road is an bottom when we’re in our little metal box
As for believing any particular marque having predominately worse drivers, then just shows that our minds look for and find evidence to prove our assumptions.

It’s a common theme with humans. If we believe a player is rubbish we’ll spot and remember 5 things during a match that prove our hypothesis and be blind to ask the examples that proved otherwise.

Another example is that police are trained not to use their hunches anymore

Drive a wee mini and a lot of big vans, its the amount of folk welded to their phone thats the issue. Add in folk driving pseudo 4x4s like they are weaponized and contractor in a warzone and it gets a bit 5p 50p at times. Need to invest in a railway horn....

Today I had two examples of why some people should simply not be on the road.

First one was a guy doing the classic "straight across a roundabout". Why bother following those neat road markings when you can just cut right over? At the next round about he surpassed himself by going right round the roundabout...from the left-hand lane!

Second was another fairly typical one - the slow driver. Doing 20 in a 40 and then braking as they saw a bus pulling in about 200m away! They then stopped when they had right of way.

These are the people who cause the accident and then toddle off unscathed and like nothing happened.

For whatever reason, white cars seem to be the worst for bad driving.

Edinburgh drivers are far worse than in Dunfermline. Far more aggressive. I`d be angry too if I`d spent £300k on an ex-council house with a driveway so small that I have to park my Audi Q5 on the street.

100%. I never drove when I lived in Edinburgh as the bus network was/is brilliant. Cheap and regular.

The issue with commuters is that they`re unlikely to park at the park and rides and travel in if they`ve already made it that far. I know this from experience. When I first moved back to Dunfermline I would get the train to work. The problem was how bloody awful the trains are. Overcrowded, expensive and late/cancelled. On occasions when they were cancelled in the morning I`d just drive in...and then it became a regular thing. Free parking at work so it was far easier to drive in/out and not worry about missing putting the kids to bed because Scotrail couldn`t be bothered to provide proper trains for Fife.

I wrote to the then transport minister and all I got back was a note from his assistant to say my concerns had been noted.

I`d like to think Scotrail will improve as a nationalised organisation but I really doubt it. They cared more about shaving a few minutes off the Edinburgh-Glasgow journey than they did about anywhere else in Scotland. The busiest routes were the Fife ones yet they didn`t progress electrification and left Fifers using carriages from the 70s. Utterly disgraceful.

Network rail can’t progress electrification to fife as they aren’t allowed to touch the forth rail bridge to electrify it as it’s a unesco world heritage sight. The only way would be to modify the current electric fleet to store battery power.

You are right though, Edinburgh to Glasgow queen street is what Scotrail care about most and all other routes get overlooked.

Probably not allowed to say these days but I drive the A92 every day and that last bit is definitely true.

Glad it`s not just me! The A92 is a shocker of a road. Almost as bad as the Edinburgh City bypass for idiots.

Network rail was out doing a study on the fife circle last year and hope to have it electrified in the next 3 or 4 years

It will be something they look to do as they spread electrification throughout the network, no way will it be done in 3-4 years for fife, the leven mouth extension still has 2 years before completion. the next part they are electrifying is dunblane to perth.

They still need to modify the trains to make it over the bridge. There’s other routes like tweedbank still to electrify as well.

I work on the railway and was speaking to the guys doing the survey , 3 to 4 years was what they told me , they were also doing the survey on the Kincardine branch

As do I lol. It will 100% get done but 3-4 years is hugely optimistic. Tweedbank to Carlisle is the other line extension they are looking at. There are so many major improvements to the network in the pipeline it will be whatever takes priority. 2024 till the leven branch is done and as far as I’m aware they aren’t putting in electrical Stanchion foundations as part of their groundwork’s. Glasgow to perth and perth to dundee are likely to be the next routes for electrification but they haven’t started doing a new route since they finished the glasgow central via shorts line a few years ago.

On top of that scotrail will have to add to their electrical fleet which will also need to have the capability of making it across the bridge without overhead wires.

But you never know, they might get it done in that timeframe, I just don’t see it. Put it this way, the final proposal for the edinburgh to glasgow queenstreet electrification was in 2007 and that wasn’t complete until 2017 with the actual works taking around 3 years.

There`s no business case for Tweedbank to Carlisle, as much as I`d like to see it done.
