....or Clipshears, which is it?
Anyhoo. I haven`t seen one for years.
Are they extinct?
And while I am at it, why is there not a gardening forum?

Dermaptera or, as the layman would call them, `Earwigs` were placed on the UNs list of endangered species in 2008. It`s believed there is less than 100 of them still existence and certainly none will be found in these shores.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

If they are close to extinction then I better get my house declared as a protected area...we have had 3 in the past few weeks.
I belive it is the St Helena Giant earwig (reaching up to 8cm) that was declared extinct in 2014. Of the 1000 species world wide we only have 4 in the UK.
And each and every one of them strikes me as being a super aggressive bampot.

Strangely enough I just picked up my phone meaning to search on Google about earwigs, as out in the garden this thing that looked a bit like an earwig landed on my arm. It was dark but not quite black, almost like a metallic really dark brown and had little bits of yellow on it

Earwigs aplenty here in Oz. In fact, nasty beasties aplenty wherever I happen to look around these parts...
