Obviously knew his name and that he is regarded as one of the greatest guitarists ever but couldn`t think of a single song featuring him.
Searched online and still don`t recognise any of his songs.

My sympathies to his friends family and fans.

Any recommendations on what I should listen to to get a feel of what his music was like would be welcome.

Hi Ho Silver Lining. Can`t believe you`ve never heard that song SIF?!
Having said that I can`t name any of his other songs and although that was his greatest hit I don`t believe it is indicative of his other work. I`m sure I`ve read somewhere that he thought it was a bit too catchy and `pop`.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

He is probably one of those people who was not that well known by the wider public, but held in very high esteem by his peers, musicians and fans who know their stuff.
Some nice tributes on the BBC website from the likes of Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, one of which read
"the guitarists guitarist"

There was footage at the end of C4 News of him playing at the White House with Mick Jagger when Barack Obama was President.

I bought one of his few singles back in the day. It was called `The Tallyman`. It was a decent piece of music at the time.

It is a little known fact that he could have changed the direction of two of the world`s most successful rock bands. Both the Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd at different times wanted Jeff Beck to join them.

Could you imagine the Rolling Stones with Jeff Beck and not Ronnie Wood? Probably.

Could you imagine Pink Floyd with Jeff Beck and not David Gilmour? No. I doubt that would have worked so well.

Was sick of Windows having his music automatically there when I had to reinstall the damn thing.

Ep.17 of East End Tales is out now with Andrius Skerla
