I see the two houses, formerly occupied by the janitors of Commercial and St Margaret`s PS on their shared campus, have been flattened. I don`t know if there any plans to use that space now, or whether it will just increase the grasses area, but the houses appeared to be in good nick.
Considering Commercial PS doesn`t have its own nursery provision due to a chronic lack of space, perhaps it would have been possible to use the two houses with a minimum of modification. Failing that, could they not have been used to house a couple of families currently looking for accommodation?

I suspect it`s the damage done when removing the asbestos. Often it`s cheaper to knock things down and rebuild than attempt to renovate.

Correct. It has to be removed before demolition otherwise the site and recyclable material is contaminated. Wouldn't have necessarily thought there would be extensive damage from the removal as it has to be done by the means that minimises fibre release. They should unscrew panels rather than smashing them for example.
