 Your favourite podcasts

Podcasts seem to be the thing these days, and I must admit I find some of them quite addictive.

My favourite has been The Rest is Politics, with Rory Stewart and Alastair Campbell covering a range of political issues in what seems to me a fair and balanced way.

There are a thousand podcasts on American life and politics, but the one I find most entertaining and consistently listenable is Countdown with former sports commentator Keith Olberman. He`s been around a long time and is not afraid to call a spade a spade.

I like Bill Burr`s Monday Morning Podcast for a bit of comedy. I have nearly crashed the car a couple of times listening to him. Not everyone`s taste, perhaps, but he creases me up.

There are many football podcasts too, but if I were to pick one it would probably be The Price of Football. The two guys on there know their stuff, and I usually learn something new in each episode.

I am always on the lookout for new podcasts, any suggestions?

We Have Ways Of Making You Talk. Hosted by James Holland and Al Murray but if you have no interest in the Second World War I wouldn`t bother.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Some of the BBC Sacked In The Morning episodes are quite good if you don`t mind Craig Levein.

You are not alone Busspasser and I don’t think it’s my thing, prefer something I can get hold of.
At the moment I’m enjoying a Trollope that’s should keep me going for a while. Very hefty though, certainly couldn’t manage two at once.

Under The Cosh is good for football, lots of famous ex pros and lower league journeymen as well as former referees.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, folks, keep them coming.

Busspasspar, Parboiled. Podcasts are audio files that can be listened to on-demand anytime. You can access them on your phone or computer through an app like Spotify.

When you open the Spotify app, you will have options such as Music, Audiobooks or Podcasts & Shows. Click on Podcasts, and you will then see what is available...

They can cover various topics, including news, sport, entertainment, politics, education, technology, etc. The choice is almost endless.

Only really listen to a couple, one of which has already been mentioned. Other one is the Some Laugh podcast. Three Scottish comedians (Marc Jennings, Stephen Buchanan and Stuart McPherson - Stuarts a Pars fan). chatting about their careers, growing up and other random stuff, very funny.

How I built this...
About companies and how they came to be and interview with the founders etc very good

Quickly Kevin will he Score
A 90s football based podcast which is funny and nostalgic

I used to like the Graham Hunter one as well - but I find he talks too much now and has become a parody of himself

Not podcasts but I like retro gaming YouTubers/TikTokers like

RMC The Cave
8 Bit Guy
RetroSega (fairly sure he`s local)
Lady Decade
Nostalgia Nerd
Kim Justice
Metal Jesus Rocks

Probably loads I`m forgetting. The quality of the material some of these guys produce is way beyond what you`d get back in the day on programmes like Bitz or Gamesmaster. What`s even better is they`re producing all this amazing work without being the son/daughter of an 80s celeb, which is a refreshing change!

Football
Open goal although slaney grinds on you after a while. Just done an interview with mcpake.

Off the ball - usually a mix between the Saturday and Sunday show.

Scottish football podcast - usually the sport sound from Saturday and a good few during the week.

Sacked in the morning- good if you can hack Amy irons saying "I can listen to you all day " or "oh the stories "

Walking down the halbeath road - brilliant interview also can have a drinking game where you drink every time Mikey says "brilliant mate" his knowledge of the topics talked about is class.

NFL
The nat combs podcast - really like Nat as a host and guests are usually decent.

New heights with travis and Jason kelce- just downloaded this so can`t really say how good it is.

Hope this helps

c'mon the pars

Unashamedly another plug for our Dunfermline Athletic related podcast, East End Tales which released another episode this morning https://www.buzzsprout.com/1972630/12878853

What do we do?
Normally we chat with an ex player about a specific match or time period as well as their thoughts on different players/managers etc from that time.

We also chat about the recent happening at East End Park and rundown the fixtures since our last episode.

I really enjoy listening to podcasts while I`m jogging, working, doing housework. at the gym and commuting for those that aren`t sure when to get round to listening to them.

I`ve recently got into You`re Getting Sacked in the Morning. Craig Levein is really good on that and their guests are normally decent with their stories.

The Scottish Football podcast with Steven Mill and Euan Cameron is alright too when Euan isn`t trolling or talking about Rangers.

Also a big fan of New Game Plus, a retro gaming podcast. Really enjoy their deep dives into random retro games.

Ep.17 of East End Tales is out now with Andrius Skerla
