I`ve just inherited an older car. I don`t have any use for it or a full time place to store it but it was their pride and joy and well looked after and in great condition for it`s age so I`d like to see it go to someone who would appreciate it and take care of it, rather than it rust on the street outside my house or go to someone who will wreck it (obviously I won`t ever know for sure).
It`s an H plate 1992 Mazda 626 2.0L GLX Exec, the bodywork is immaculate, it`s done 72k since new, and I`m only the third owner. It`s spent most of it`s life garaged, and only did about 2k miles per year.
The question I have is how do I go about selling this to the right person? I`ve tried to search for Mazda owners groups, but drawn a blank other than people speaking about newer/current models.
It`s not really a `classic` as such, and being 31 years old, there are very. very few up for sale that I can find that gives an indication of where is the best place to sell it or what it`s worth as value seems to vary wildly.
I`ve tried online car buyers to get a valuation but they don`t even recognise the reg.
I might have someone to who might be interested but it`s a long shot until I actually get to speak to them, but has anyone got any advice they can give in routes to take?

I’d say it’s worth 3k to the right buyer, but because of its age it won’t appeal to the masses. The majority of people won’t consider it unless you were offering it for a cheap price.
Best place to try and sell it would be autotrader

I think you`ve done the right thing checking in on the Mazda forums. Are there potentially Mazda magazines or online groups specifically focussed on sales?
I`d say it`s worth considering the difference in what it`s worth Vs what people are willing to pay. It sounds like a well maintained but older vehicle so it`s a tough sell unless you get someone who really likes Mazda`s.

Aye, I get the difference, and that`s the point, I suppose because I know how much they loved the car, I want to respect that by trying to find a like-minded owner as opposed to just punting it which is not what I`m trying to do.
I`ve taxed it, and insured it so I`ve got time, and I have a place to store it, so I can afford to find the right buyer, it`s accessing/finding them I`ve struggled with for now.
I`ve owned cars for nearly 30 years but never sold one privately before as I`ve always traded in so I`m starting from scratch in terms of knowledge but It seems I wasn`t far off in my thinking.
Dover/Jake - Cheers for the input.
James - Hilarious. Absolute top drawer patter.

What an absolute fud that guy is.
Back on topic... How about crafting your post above into a screenshot Digs and tagging lots of Mazda accounts on Twitter?

I`m on a couple of forums for lovers of older cars online, Autoshite and Retro Rides, maybe worth having a look and posting for sale there.
