Honestly, I think I have just diced with death...
A few weeks ago, I went to my local farmer`s market and bought a jar of English Mustard. I have just added it to a steak sandwich and had the most frightening coughing fit.
To say the mustard was spicy is a massive underestimate. This was positively nuclear! I am cowering in the corner, shivering with the trauma and wishing I had opted for HP Sauce...

There`s a mustard museum near where I stay. Never been though, can`t imagine the history of mustard to be anything other than tedious.

I`m over the hot sauces and mustards that are sold at the majority of farmer`s markets. Most of them are so hot that any other flavour ingredient is not identifiable. Maybe it is easier to make them hot than actually good and tasty.
However, if you get a chance, visit the Bowhouse market at St. Monans. All of the products were of the highest quality and the range of traders was a good mix. An excellent day out.

Goodness, GG741, I haven`t been to St Monans in such a long time. I love that part of Fife - all that country and coastline east of Cupar and Earlsferry. I am getting homesick just thinking about it.
Fifers are blessed to have it on their doorstep.

That Bowhouse market is superb, especially the wee brewery and bar there, Futtle brewery--they do some nice beers. Some good records at Triassic Tusk Records there too. Both run by Stephen Marshall (who does a great podcast with the singer James Yorkston, some really eclectic songs and wittering that`ll make you homesick for Fife). If you are lucky, him or King Creosote might pop in and play a few tunes as well

The produce on sale at Bowhouse is excellent, and it`s from local producers so it ticks all the boxes about food miles. However, the butchers also have a UK wide delivery service.
The market attracts craftmakers and artisans too, so it`s not just food. Definitely worth a visit.
