The BBC Archive on YouTube is full of historic gems. Unintentionally, it emphasises how much the BBC has declined since its heyday.
Here`s a prime example, presumably from the Tonight programme, showing the legendary Fyfe Robertson`s visit to Dundee to tell the tale of the nation`s first chip shop.

Fyfe Robertson - now there`s a name from the past, he was a great interviewer.
The BBC put on good current affairs programmes back then - Kenneth Allsop was another I mind of.

Another classic series still available on STV Player was Weirs Way. Tom Weir had a similar style, may be a bit dated now but still enjoyable viewing.
