I have seen the rise of boys being wee fannies in their cars, but i`ve heard numerous counts of them throwing water at people trying to enjoy there days, has anyone experienced this?

Nope but not a surprise. same with the f*nnies doing wheelies everywhere on dirt bikes and intimidating drivers etc. Plus the Kirkcaldy f*nnies throwing things off shop roofs/flyovers at cars.

We used to egg folk from our cars...
It was fun but then we grew up.

I don`t know why, but I assumed kids would have grown out of doing daft stuff to pretty dull cars. The amount of Fiesta EcoBooms rattling about (sometimes literally) with straightpipe exhausts is frankly bizarre.

Not condoning driving without insurance in any way shape or form ...I think it`s madness ...
But insurance prices for youngsters is verging on criminal.
Mind you , it was the same when I passed my test back in the eighties.
I had to insure my first car third party fire and theft as couldn`t afford comprehensive.

Car insurance is obscene for first time drivers but then cars have gone up in price so much and there are so many more cars on the roads these days meaning more accidents.

Insurance has gone up massively however so has the number of young drivers in new or nearly new cars.
Most folk my age had absolute sheds for their first car (or borrowed their parents car), I can understand parents thinking though as new cars are much safer.

How many on here can remember them ? They were utterly terrible...or at least mines was
Spent so much time in the garage getting fixed that I shouldn`t have bothered ensuring it lol.

Probably because they can get a lease on a new car for Β£200 p/M rather than paying Β£3-4k for a shed car now. Prices have gone up massively.
Both our cars are worth MORE than when we bought them because of price rises.

Yep, it all seemed to start when there were finance deals including insurance (they soon put age restrictions on that!) and it becomes a keeping up with the Jones`s situation.
The shortage of cars during Covid is impacting used car prices again too.

Same - my first car was a 1.3 Talbot Horizon βTβ reg, in 1988, bought for Β£300 - and it cost more than the price of the car for 3rd party fire and theft insurance.
Mental insurance cost is nothing new.

Is there still "loopholes" in the insurance industry?
After the disaster of my first car I decided to not be so stupid again (I bought my first car on the day I passed my test without seeing it in daylight and it had no MOT cos I was just so desperate to own a car)
So I trawled round car garages looking at cars for a couple of weeks and came across an E reg vauxhall cavalier Sri saloon that i never thought for a minute that i would be able to insure but the salesman knew I liked it .
He took me aside and assured me that because it was a saloon it was a bit of a grey area with insurers and if I wanted to get quotes , he would hold the car for 48 hours.
I went home (this is in the days before mobiles so it was a house phone) and started getting quotes and to my amazement he was right.
If the car had been a hatchback it would have been well beyond my means but because the car in question was a saloon it was miles cheaper and I could afford to insure it (even though it was exactly the same car with the same engine as the hatchback version).
Does this still happen these days ?

I know it`s not ideal , but it helped folk of my generation (or at least the careful ones) get a few years under their belts so premiums started to come down .
I was two years driving before I could afford to go fully comp.

Only way to get it down was to add named drivers. In the end he got one for Β£2300. To me that is still ridiculous but price young drivers are going to have to pay if they want on the road. That is also with a black box in his car.

Have started to notice that the youngsters who drive up your bottom , play loud music in the car and ping past you at way over the speed limit are mostly young girls!

Hi unfortunately it is only fully comprehensive supplied to youngsters these days. If I remember correctly when I was looking for my daughter a few years ago, it was more expensive for 3rd party than fully comp. But I donβt think they even offer it now. The only way is to add the parents to the insurance.

They were doing wheelies past the primary school at 3pm today too after assaulting people
