Not content with robbing us of our Stone of Destiny and hanging onto it for centuries it now seems the six ton Altar Stone at Stonehenge was transported from Orkney around 2600BC!
Get it up to Princes St Gardens, we Druids won’t take no for an answer!

It`s an amazing story. How did those in the North know what was planned at Stonehenge and did they have a way of reporting their progress to those in the South?

I remember reading a hypothesis that the Welsh stones were transported by folk migrating, perhaps the Scottish one was like that: maybe folk took their altar with them when they flitted?
Frankly, it usually comes down to migration with humans - we`re not a species who likes to stay in one place.

Aliens are almost certainly involved
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Well Aliens built the pyramids so a wee stone circle would have been one for their apprentices…

Doesn`t seem very impressive for interstellar alien civilisations to go around doing stuff that humans could do at least 5000 years before the invention of the steam engine.
You`d think they`d have better things to do, the lazy feckless sods.

Ahh poor naive Wotsit. These stones have unique molecular properties. The aliens weren`t building some sort of shrine for the primitive natives but were assembling the building blocks for a temporal distance terminal or to give it its vernacular handle a "stargate". Alas even back then NIMBYism was rampant and so planning permission was refused and the aliens left the project unfinished and built one on a planet just off of Alpha Centauri instead. Their gain but very much our loss.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed
